Good job and I love your passion for your D2. I love mine too X. 12:27 mins into the video and you can see she needs an whole new chassis. It is terminally rotten above the section above the rear shock mount
Yea it was pretty bad on the top
Just a few tips/comments,if you didnt, its a good idea to treat the inside of the old and new chassis with waxoyl etc esp the new replacement, why, well with all the welding you've actually burnt off some of the galv inside,so,unprotected
Another tip is where the join is at the lowest point drill a 20-30mm hole this will allow water to drain away easier,in fact it'll do no harm drilling a few holes along the bottom, either stop water getting in or make sure it can get out
Great advise man cheers Chris
Dude, o--ride, o--ride...lol Great job on this, love to see what you doing to the truck. Good info.
I secured all fuel lines when I replaced mine... However I neglected to cover air suspension line and a weld holed the plastic pipe... Amazining how quickly the airbags deflated whilst I was underneath! I know didn't chock body will do next time
Oh aye that sounds scary 😳 mine is on springs as my air bags was a never ending battle to work 🥴🤣
Great job my friend
Thank you! Cheers!
Is this the same as the V8 SALT VIN chassis in the US?
Not sure sorry
Can I replace the v8 engine with a td5 diesel engine on a v8 gearbox?
I have no idea sorry not a big landrover guy
@@SMTMOTORSPORT You are very moral
Is it possible to bolt on instead of welding this on?
Not sure if that would pass mot inspection in uk maybe another country would pass
on the fuel lines, thats ok if you have the inspection cover,i've worked on one where it wasn't there at all,its a NITEMARE
oh that sounds a nightmare
Did you disconnect the battery ? or just the ECU,, before welding , ,
I use a battery surge protector it’s great you don’t need to disconnect battery or ecu 👍🏻 £50-£100 to buy one I think
If you don’t have Disconnecting battery is good enough if ur about to go this job 👍🏻
Any tips for getting the body mounts/bushings into the new frame section? The rubber on mine still look brand new and don’t want to press into the new piece.
a C clamp probably force them in
@@SMTMOTORSPORT Yeah I ended up having to use a ball joint press. My normal c clamps were useless.
How much would a job like this cost in a garage thinking of buying a td5 and it needs doing really thanks
I have no idea sorry
How long did this job take?
Be a day or two depending one what tools and ramp etc I was a day doing it
Does this product will be shipping me I have to live in turkey?
I have 2 tools for 2002 4.0 discovery.
can you help me please
Sorry no idea what you are asking here 🥴
@@SMTMOTORSPORT ı have The Same problem. But there are no parts in the country. How can we do that

Lol 2 in 1 day, I thought Xmas was last week 😂
😂😂😘 happy new year buddy
Also forgot to say I used that fertan on my old MK1 MX-5 sills, didn't help much as the next year I was sorting a couple bubbles out to find a few 5p size holes 🙄, may be better on thicker metal with a bit more meat on it 🤷♂️✌️
mr malavey yeah I don’t think it helped much at all
You're supposed to squash the flaps of the new chasis closed against the old chasis with a large g clamp then weld not cut or grind away. You left yours open and welded in the gaps, this is incorrect I'm afraid as you don't have full chasis to chasis contact inside if you get what I'm saying. Also why didn't you remove the rear floor for access? This was all totally the wrong way to do the job.
It is knocked on 4-6inch inside and spot welded where marked…..plenty room to weld on top why I didn’t lift body, plus did u see state of chassis I had to cut so much off as it was totally rotten u can’t weld to rust mate 😂🤷🏻♂️ it’s fully welded where company said it should be so I don’t get what u mean if u watch full video u will see there’s nothing left on top of oem chassis! I live in Scotland so rust is a major issue on old trucks!
