Could you imagine Axel Foley crossing over with the Bad Boys or Riggs and Murtaugh from Lethal Weapon? I’d love to see it done well with a great action comedy director. 😁 Only in my dreams…
This is such a fantastic movie that holds its own against any movie of the era. Murphy's comical talent was clear but the dramatic moments that needed him to feel real came naturally to him. Even with the great names mentioned, I can't see anyone else as Foley. I've said this a few times recently with creators covering older movies. When I was younger, actiom movies were often on TV during the evening when I could watch them anyway. But darker or sci-fi movies were often relegated to late nights, I have my older brother to thank for recording movies like Dune, Psycho and The Alien movies. I watched this so often on VHS.
Sometimes you should just make one good movie and let it be. People can look back on it fondly, buy a dvd or watch it on streaming every so often and it'll bring back good memories. Of course most of the time Hollywood wants to cash in on a popular movies and just milk it to death till it ruins the whole franchise.
i like the third movie. sure it's the weakest, but i don't think it's bad. the main reason it was different was because it was a 90's movie at that point, and it feels like one. while the others still feel like 80's movies.
I think Beverly Hills Cop AND 48Hrs are both brilliant films that show off Eddy at his Peak! Though i think Another 48hrs is a better sequel than BHC 2. Though I always thought the latter wasn't too bad. But definitely didn't live up to the 1st one.
I don't know if I'll say this is Eddie Murphy's greatest franchise. I think The Nutty Professor earns that, but Beverly hills cop is an essential '80s movie. You can't mention that era without mentioning that movie. I liked it because for the time it was completely different. A completely different take on the action cop genre and help put the action comedy/ buddy comedy genre on the map
Trading Places is arguably a _superfluous_ film, for Eddie had already had his break with both SNL and 48 Hrs. The retelling of The Prince and The Pauper did result in Dan Aykroyd finally leaving the shadow of John Belushi. Looking forward to BHC: Axle Foley this summer.
Did you know that a script for part 4 was done in the 90s when Eddie Murphy travels to London for a case , sir Sean Connery was cast too , but the budget was to expensive and the idea was scrapped
I have to say i enjoyed BHC 2. I agree it's not as good as the first but it has its own charm, Never saw 3. I like alien over aliens. Aliens was good as an action flick but watching the xenomorph in a pure horror setting just seems..right.
Bruv there are no goodbyes. Hollywood has given up on originals. the movie going public simply will not show up for them. i don't care how much they claim to hate reboots, remakes and sequels. they piss all over originals even if they are based on established works. Every movie that made more then $5 in profit over the last 30 years is going to be remade, rebooted or get a sequel in the next few years. i will keep saying it until somebody listens, the girl in the spiders web was one of the best movies of the last 15 years period! if you disagree then watch it 30 times like i have and come back. As far as BHC 1-3? one was 4 out of 5 stars. two was 3 out of 5 stars. three was 0 out of 5 stars. Part three was soulless and lifeless and thankfully even eddie murphy was ashamed of himself for making that movie.
If you adjust for inflation, 284 million in 1984 is around 2,5 BILLION today. I suspect that, the Matrix sequel in 2004, when adjusted for inflation, does not supercede this movie in profits.
The original had a gritty, real-world feel to it, as if you were watching much of Axl's world through binoculars. The sequels would have benefited from directors from a documentary background, like Friedkin or Mann, as the sequels looked too polished, over-lit, and over-planned compared to the original. The sequels lacked the spontaneous aspect. Far less love and care went into the sequels, and the objective of the second film seemed more of a cash grab rather than a labor of love. The third film as made to solely keep the franchise and flagging career of Eddie Murphy alive. The headspace of Murphy during the third installment wasn't in a good place, which was clearly reflected in the finished film.
Insert Eddie Murphy laugh here 😆😎👍
One of the most unforgettable of all time!!!

I ❤ Mr. Robinson's Neighborhood, 2019 SNL
I didn't mind Beverly Hills Cop 3.

I watched that in Hong Kong when it came out. 😊
Crused back later and watch return of the jet eye in Pearl theater Hong Kong.
I love the 🌎. Even if I divorced from Hollywood 😂

Axel Foley is the most bad ass Detective in cinema history... Imo. I'm excited for Axel F 🎉🎉🎉🎉
This was a 15 certificate in the U.K. and I had to lie about my age to get in. My fuzzy little moustache did it’s job.
The first Beverly Hills Cop is the PERFECT action/comedy Cop movie!
I like almost every Eddie movie, even the bad ones

Bob Gayle and Robert zemeckis, who did Back to the future?
Have stated that they will never be a reboot as long as they live on this franchise.🇬🇧
Interesting fact the guy who ran the bar in flashdance was in a cut scene where he talks to AF before he headed to Beverly Hills
BHC 1: a classic. BHC 2: a fantastic movie with some great cinematography. BHC 3: Disney, with too much input from Eddie and shouldn't have been made.
i like the third movie. sure it's the weakest, but i don't think it's bad. the main reason it was different was because it was a 90's movie at that point, and it feels like one. while the others still feel like 80's movies.
37:08 That's always what I felt was wrong about Cop 3. Axel Foley wasn't a wise-ass anymore.
Just released if they don't do it with this Netflix one beverly Hills cop 5 should have victors son come back as the villain for revenge

BHC II is my favorite in the series due to Tony Scott's style and direction.
How many videos can you make on the same movie?
had no idea there was a third installment, I'll watch it as a murphy fan for completion's sake.
3:28 Daniel Petrie Jr looks like a mashup of William Shatner and Radio DJ Chris Evans
I love ❤️ Beverly Hills Cop and love its sequel. I don't hate III but it's nowhere compared to the other two; but I still enjoy it. 😉
1984 was the first of the 3 great years. The height of western civilization.
It's been downhill ever since.
in 1987 we got Predator. Pretty quick to write off the 80's there.
No way I'm watching 4. I won't let Hollywood pull the football again
BILLEEEE!!!
I must be psychic. I just watched the first one the other night. I forgot Jonathan Banks was the bad guy.
Awesome overview of this franchise! What’s the name of the song that starts at 5:23?

They're all good to me. 2, 1, 3 is my order but they're all in the 90s as far as scores.
May 1987 was the release date part 2
to think, this film could never be made today.
The Netflix movie will bury everything
As a Sequel, BHC2 is very well made; from the plethora of the plugs and callbacks.
Richard Pryor woulda been amazing too. Luckily, he had his own vehicles.

The original Beverly hills cop is the best but part 2 was good Tony Scott brought a MTV style to it
Ronny Cox was ‘Bogomil’ by the way. These vids are so much better when they’re narrated by people who love the subject.

I liked BHC2. More comedy would have been nice but I love a good chase shoot ‘em up movie.
