You have to hand it to the US Presenters. They cool. This station kicked arse and changed British Radio. Oh yeah u will hear Caroline did that? Not in my generation.

Absolutely loved this station, still got loads of souvenirs such as recordings, posters, Tommy Rivers' old Butwin jacket and one of the carts from the studio.
I had the pleasure of going on board about 15 years ago when it was owned by Dave Miller and anchored in Lowestoft harbour, poor old girl had been vandalised in Holland when some idiots opened the seacocks and sunk her in the harbour, a few months later after leaving Lowestoft, she was towed up to the Orkneys where not much of her is left now.
To GZAPPA. THANKS for your reply! But I saw earlier footage of Lazer558, when the ship wasn't in bad condition. Unfortunately, being victimized by the law, those ships weren't able to come into harbours for maintenance or repainting. Lamentably, another time, it was filmed with rust ALL OVER - and in my opinion, wasn't safe to continue to broadcast any more.
mal you have made me a happy man to hear emeories of all europe radio laser 558 again thanks for posting on youtube to listen to all the best american dj's of the time from john macleod.
Little known fact but true I used to have the tape recorder ready when they played thank you for the music at end of Charlie Wolf show and closedown of days transmission.
To Anthony Duncalf. At least at the B.B.C., staff can go home at the end of the day. Not 24 hours exposure to radiation! There have been pictures of somebody on the deck of a radio ship , holding a fluorescent tube ( not connected to anything) The, I think STATIC (?) electricity in the air lit up the light tube!

Laser 558 always sounded repetitive and amateurish to me. It certainly signalled the end of "needletime" on UK radio, however, I don't think that was necessarily a good thing because listening to what UK radio has become now is a direct result of Laser's intervention.

The greatest radio station of the 1980s
It still exists today as Laser Hot Hits International, broadcasting both on shortwave and online
For Sure

A FILM MUST BE MADE ON THE WORLDS MOST FAMOUS PIRATE RADIO STATION. LASER 558
Happy Memories - That was a really good Radio Station ! Something Governments don"t understand.
I absolutely despised radio 1 in the 80s so when I chanced on Laser 558 I was very happy
Radio 1 was very establishment with patronising DJ's.

Thank you verry much !
Отличная радиостанция👍👍👍
You had laser on one end of the AM. dial and Radio Caroline right up at the other end 📻🎧🎙️🎶
It was certainly better listening than Radio 1, Other dj's I remember were Craig Novak, Tommy Rivers and Liz West
Laser558 and Radio North sea international where the best
Can't be healthy being that close to a powerful transmitter 24 hours a day .

Sounds so old now. Guess i getting old? Only yesterday i was speaking to Peter Moore about this hit station.
Laser 558 was het laatste Amerikaanse pop station voor de britse kust
Terrific! DEEJAYENPS
I enjoyed this video Mal its Ian off your friends
Does anyone know who the reporter is on this audio? It sounds like Ray Clarke (ex-1980s Caroline and BBC Radio Essex) who's doing the voice over.
wy did loose power sudenly generatars?????
Laser's main problem was substandard equipment.
shame nobody is that dedicated any-more??? we had gold radio taken off last-week...and replaced by smooth radio!!!!!!! NOT GOOD...
Laser
No one catch this station.

Would rather have laser than that thing called Heart.
