I was introduced to the Pinch Crawler a few years ago. Very effective bait. I use a #8 or #10 Salomon egg hook. About a 12-14” leader line with a swivel and some spilt shot. Great setup for kids also.
Excellent. Just one piece of advice: never tell anybody the name of that beautiful creek, unless you want to have people shoulder to shoulder in your hole...
It was probably the scent deal with the yellow gulp and yellow trout magnet. Overcast skies you usually want a natural bait and bright skies you usually want bright colors from my experience
Just wanted to say thanks for your comment on these pinched worm baits. Just got back to FL. from west N.C. and east TN vacation. Tried a lot of baits while there, but the Trout magnet jighead with the Berkeley Pinched Worms in those 2 colors worked great! Heck yah!
Great video. Found your channel and subscribed. Sent it to a buddy. Love those pinched crawlers. Been catching good sized pike minnow with them. Ordered the trout magnet and will be testing it out this week.
A fairer test would be Gulp versus a Trout Magnet with scent on it, like MegaStrike. No surprise that a scented bait attracts more attention than a non-scented bait! I’ve caught more fish with a Trout Magnet with a little MegaStrike scent on it by at least 2 to 1 than any Gulp product.
Enjoy all your videos. Would like to.see you out in public lakes and streams. At this point brother I would not doubt you'd catch a PB in a puddle in the parking lot. Good job in all your videos.
Do the Trout Magnets have scent built in? All the Berkeley Gulp products use scent. I find the rubber lures have a funny chemically smell that unless you use scent or bury them in the dirt for a week doesn't go away. Do you ever worry that the fish can smell the rubber and it turns them off?
That's a good question and I often wonder the same. I've found using soft plastics for many species including trout that although it smells unnatural it differs "enough" from natural materials that they find it appealing... As to why I don't know.
He probably started fishing with a Zebco closed face spinning reel, which back in the day only had the reel handle on the right side. Once you get accustomed to fishing that way it feels unnatural, at least for me, to reel with the left hand. Heck, a good friend of mine’s grandpa, who was a darned good fisherman, would hold his 202 backwards and reel in backwards with his left hand! I’ve seen folks hold an open face (this is before you could reverse the handle) facing them and reel it backwards with their right hand! So this fella, and many more-including myself, get by just fine reeling an open face with our right hand. I’ve out-fished a bunch of folks, friends and family who tried to advise me on how to hold and reel my rig-just sayin. Heck yeah-tight lines!!
Even before I watch this, I could tell the results. Berkley and Trout magnet are both excellent Baits, so you can’t go wrong. And on a day when the fish are hitting, they’ll hit pretty much anything you throw in front of them within reason.
Just curious, after watching this; I wonder if it’s cause of the scent that the gulp pinched crawlers have? I’d like to see the pinched crawlers against the mice tails if you could boss? Oh and just gotta say this also, bomb a** video! Love the content man huge fan. Thank you for this! You’ve made me go from being a big time bass fisherman to completely transitioning into a trout angler! Thank you sir god bless
I’d like to see a 1v1 of the Gulp Pinched Crawler and the NRV Mini Minner or the Speckled Pup. I’ve used the Gulp Pinched Crawler and the Trout Magnet. And I’m left with the same thought. The Pinched Crawler will attract the bite more often then Trout Magnet. Not to say that the Trout Magnet is inferior to the Pinch Crawler, just not as quick to attracting fish - trout. I’m currently waiting on a reply for a mixed color assortment of the NRV 72pc kit. Will definitely be purchasing in the near future. LOVE the videos, great advise!!
Hey man. I have the same rod. I'm from north central WV and was fishing on the buckhannon river for small mouth. Hooked into a 40 inch musky with that rod. The rod held up really well. It's not a bad rod for the price
It's a tough test because trout will react to different types of bait at different times with a ton of other variables as well...... but you are ALWAYS catching awesome trout so I will always trust your suggestions!!! I live in NH and while there are a lot of places to fish here I feel like there's just nowhere near as many giant fish as there seems to be in Virginia. Maybe some day I'll come down for a few days cuz for me, if I can go and catch a fraction of the big trout that you do then it will be more than worth my travel
Great comparison video. Thanks. Trout Magnets are proven winners. Gotta try Berkeley Pinch Crawlers too now that I saw this. Question: would these baits do well on lakes?
How deep was it there? I'm just trying to get an idea of where you place your bobber in relation to the depth. I've tried trout magnets multiple times, and I've never had a bite. I want it to work! I always catch limit using other methods
I have other videos posted with more indepth explanations. But the easiest method is starting too deep and move your float closer and closer to your jig until you find the depth there at. Good luck
Whatever depth you think you have, add 20% to it and peg your float there. If you hang up, slide down the line until it only very sporadically tics bottom structure.
I highly recommend atomic teasers! They work. I use them in streams and they never disappoint. Try getting a few different colors to help with both murky and clear water.
In 2017 I landed my personal best brown trout on a gold magnet. Broke one off the day before slightly smaller and actually watched it get snagged minutes later. I asked for the gold magnet back from the fish's mouth. The next day I used the same hook and bait to land me pb weighing in at 9.66lbs.
@@NRVOutdoors I know they are not in any big retail places. Found them around here in local / mom and pop places but mainly I've ordered mine off of ffcustomtackle.com. if you want I could send you some to give em a try. Got alot of colors
Great videos man I seem to watch them daily, but I really wish you would net and release the trout much faster. Besides that great videos with alot of good info
Good video, both baits do catch fish . Berkley a bit better with sent tho. Lets talk "Spinners" , seems no one uses " MEPPS Spinners ", why ? "Cost ? Granted , Panther Marten spinners etc. catch fish, so do the MEPPS Spinners. Tho I never see anyone using em. They are the "original" French Spinners , now made here in the "USA " ! The cost is a bit more, tho they are very well made here. I use em and have for over 50 years. I think they are great ! What's yer take on them ? Tom Daytona Beach, FL. Thanks.
I just bought 115.00 worth of all my childhood mepps favorites & a few new ones. All in size double zero up to 2 in gold, silver & a copper 1 & of course black fury ea in plain & dressed, panther martins inbound (another 28 lures) some roostertails that looked enticing & lotsa micro flatfish, jointed rapala & 1 1/2" rapala. Even some promising looking tiny blue fox. Been so long since Ive fished freshwater rediscovering it. 2nd childhood... Oh & 3 15/16ths inch red&white daredevils cuz what tacklebox is complete without a daredevil. 350.00 in all with tax & shipping. Now for a loomis 7 ft 2 light power fast action 1 pc & a shimano schadic 2500. It really never gets old. Trout magnet heads inbound & now I will grab some gulp pinch crawlers natural & yellow. Love this stuff.
If you don’t like how he handles the fish, then it would shatter your little heart to see how the stockers handle them🙀, but I agree with you about being as gentle as you can with them, and this fella does pretty good…much better than in his earliest videos…I thought he might work for the stockers the way he was flinging them back at that time😂

Love and appreciate the way you land and never touch the fish but for unhooking, great content in my view.
Thanks!
I've learned to do the same by watching NRV. Rarely, if ever, do I touch a trout.
Nice video! I use KVD Fish Sticks scent sticks to add scent and flavor to the Trout Magnets. The garlic and shad scent works well.

Nice seeing comparisons and big fish doing great job
Oldie but a goodie✌️
What the heck??!! That small creek has so many big trouts. You are lucky to have such a place to fish.
Would love to see a one-to-one comparison like you did only with just an old school worm.
The o.g. #10 pink nighty(real nightcrawler) has no rival. It's dirty, it's cheating, it's incredibly effective.

Holy crow those are TOADS you are catching one after the other
Do you use the trout magnet float with everything?
How long do you leave the hook from the bobber?
Such a relaxing video 🤘🤘

@@rumdab I’ve used MegaStrike regular scent and ProCure Crappie & Panfish scent.
If you going to add Megastrike scent to trout magnet then you have to add it to the Berkley Gulp as well to be fair.
So he recommends the "yellow" pinch crawlers overall?
Enjoy all your videos. Would like to.see you out in public lakes and streams. At this point brother I would not doubt you'd catch a PB in a puddle in the parking lot. Good job in all your videos.
Yes!! El Cheapo tackle to catch decent fishes!!
Nice job here. Pointer for you... looks like you are right handed, so try the spinning reel handle on the left side of the reel.
What weight line are you using?
Just subscribed greetings from France

Great video. Thanks.
Gotta get some of those yellow pinch crawlers! 👏👏👏
Cheese scent if I’m not mistaken 🤘
How come you don’t put the retrieve handle on the left side? You work the rod with your right hand and have to switch everything up to reel?

Ct stocks some big ones forsure
Just saw this. Would like to see more and learn more. Thanks! Pinched Crawler is scented, and Trout Magnet is not, correct?
Correct
are you putting any splitshot on the rig? or is it just jighead and float
In fast current I will add a shot or two
Yellow and pink pinched crawlers are my 2 go to baits if the honey worm isn't working.
awesome video! keep up the good work bro
I haven’t tried pinched crawlers. Are they good for panfish?
Yeap!
@@NRVOutdoors crazy question but are these a floating bait? Also did you know they have these in jars?
@@seizedcarcass8440 they sell them both floating and non floating

What are you using as a float? I'd really like to try this out
Ez trout float from trout magnet
Joe fly and Rooster tail nice fish
How do I find streams near me? Do you find them on maps? Just curious….
You can or check and see if your department of wildlife resources has maps or pins.

The difference between scent and no scent can be massive sometimes.
I would like to see the Berkely slayer against any comparable bait
How was the Shakespeare set up field to you
I was SO impressed by it to be honest. I expected it to come with some issues but it's been preforming on a high level so far.
damn those were some killer fish bro.
We’re they 1inch or 2 inch pinched crawlers? Great vid by the way!
1"
@@NRVOutdoors ok, thanks!
Cool video. Now I will try them as well. Haha
You should get the feild and stream tech lite
Are there no small fish in that Creek? Love your videos 👍
One is based on presentation and the other on scent. It's all situational.
Great video. Make more
Love it thanks

You should make a video using salmon eggs with trout magnet
Was that a small bubble float you were using
Do the trout magnets vs the mini tubes
Mini tube jig works very well for me in lakes
Wish they would stock trout that big where im from they limit 5 there all around 8 ta 12 skinny rainbow
Theres alot of people stop fishing cause all the different rules no treble hooks catch and release different spots on same river
The Wren is singing
Can't believe you not taking those home to eat.
Limit your kill... don’t kill your limit!
You should do power bait 1 on 1s
Them Berkeley Gulps look more natural.
I always see guys using a float with trout magnet. Never works for me.
I have much better luck without the float as well. Have stopped using it completely.
Bros catching huge rainbows and doesn’t affect him
are u the only one that is allowed to fish in these streams and please show some lake fishing with ur lures
They are open to the public. I leave the info in the description of every video

Excessive use of the term, "guys"...otherwise a nice video showing these two baits.
You shouldn't try to lip trout and dumping them out of the net and slapping against the shallow water and rocks also is not good for the fish
