Don't ever forget that ASSes used to cost like 30g a piece and people still needed 100 of those (and made leggys week 1). So, if someone's crazy to rush it, by all means (those shards are down to 2ish gold now)
Times we've fought Decima and Greer so far: - Initial story instance (one by one) - Climax of the release story (both at the same time) - Janthir Synthri meta - Mount Balrior story instance - Mount Balrior convergence - Mount Balrior raid Add three more for the Challenge convergence and the Challenge and Legendary raid diffculties, and maybe a few more down the line.
I think they went a bit overkill with getting their moneys worth so they could justify making the raid. If this plan worked I think you might not see them go so much overkill in the future. itll likely just be raid, convergence and maybe a climax story fight. I actually dont mind them using them this much if the fights changed a bit more.
My main gripe with Gw2 has always been the model limiter limiting mobs/enemies. I wish they just made separate settings for hiding players and then hiding mobs if you want to. I remember having so many issues with metas in EoD
Not only trash mobs, that setting will sometimes hide important boss mechanics such as the AoE adds in XJJ or the damaging arrows in the new W8 Decima fight.
The only thing that was kinda underwhelming is the fight in the story mode, like how they just reused the trope of "oh we conveniently found out a weakness for the titans so we can plan an organized attack on them if we use this weakness in our favor" (this is the same for Dragon Storm in IBS ending to kill 2 elder dragons at the same time) i was expecting Ura to be such a big boss moment from what the last piece of story seem to build up to, but then it was really weak indeed. Also, it was too short honestly, i wanted more story!!
4:40 Cerus and titans etc. with main character energy just written out of the story like with a stroke of a pen in Death Note: I'm always reminded of Primordus. We made a lot of excuses about that one because of Covid and Anet deciding to abort the Saga (that name aged like milk) for getting EoD done, but honestly now it feels like this is their MO now. Not the O'Brien, the modus operandi. And it's a shame really, as nothing ever gets a chance to be fleshed out. And then the "New Cadence" giving thimbles of story every 3 months for the price of a whole expansion honestly just adds insult to injury.
As a dude who plays maybe once a week here and there, I'm not interested in Raids (altho I did some of the easy bosses alongside you Muk, thanks for that !) The convergence doesn't seem very happealing, it's basically the same thing as the story but with more people, the story was really short, and the legendary spear is whatever. I played like 4h after the patch released and then I already had everything I wanted from this. Most of the hype for me comes with the reset of the Wizard's Vault tbh
The convergence does give a glimps of what you gonna get when you jumps into wing 8,but thats only one boss and only work for seasoned raiders,if the objective to encourage new player or player that never raid to raiding it wont happens, theres plenty of reason for that and we all know whats what. if Anet objective is to invite people to raiding then give something to work on like turtle collection, lately this past month i run KO with squad that filled with majority of new player or player that never touch instance content, this week alone i run with 3 squad like that, and guess what the reception are super positive, granted for raiding at least for wing 8 give us difficulty setting to chose
Step 1: Craft Aurene Weapon Step 2: Sel Aurene Weapon Step 3: Buy Gen 1 Weapon that is on discount due to Legendary Starter Kits. Seriously, Aurene Weapon have less maps to run and need less clovers. Even with the starter kits, it would be stupid to put time and ressources into gen 1 weapons, when you can craft a Gen 3 weapon, sell it, buy a Gen 1 weapon and STILL have spare gold left. Unless you really want the Skins, they are just not worth it.
The spear was a bit tedious but im sure it'll dwindle down in overall cost the more time goes on. I made it for both function and aesthetic and I love that thing I'm ngl. I'm not sure if it's on purpose (maybe I'm telling on myself) but it unlocked every variant right away for me in my wardrobe. The versatility feels nice! As for the rest I totally agree on. I wish we'd have gotten a crumb of more story because I blew through it in like ~30m and I felt like I was taking my time with it
When I fought the Titians in the story, my NPC helpers got stuck on one elite mob when I charge in to fight Geer. It took me about 2 minutes to kill him, and yeah, he wasn’t that much of a challenge compared to his raid self. When I check on the NPCs, they were still stuck on the elite mob, only bringing its HP down to 80% in those two minutes. I kinda felt sorry for them when I finally help and killed it in like five seconds. Really shows the NPCs are really for show… not sure how to fully fill about that.
I also noticed a lot of the audio quality for the voice acting sounded scratchy, like they were using a low-quality mic or messed up the audio files. Hope that gets patched as well
I have a theory that the godspawn update was originally planned to be part of the launch update but during the soto push back on their quarterly updates they sliced off the convergence and raid and expanded the story chapters a bit In order for this first update to have enough substance to pass but then come through really strong in the later patches with the extra maps, CMs and LCMs. My theory is that the story in updates 2-3 will be a bit beefier then we got in Soto patches and Godspawn. Maybe im on the Copium train. Overall enjoyed the story love the raid and the convergence is a big improvement on Soto IMO
My main and oldest character is still on pause on the story, because I'm a female sylvari enjoyer. But I did the story with like 2 other characters already, so those dubbing issues are not that problematic for me (and I play in English, so I did not get the various European dubbing part that my friends had from the French dubbing version).
wb not the problem, the spear for wb kinda is, I don't play with spear but i know they made it with too much sustain on that wep vs any of the other weps, they've gotten back into the habbit of bad pvp balance and not making changes soon enough. They purposely balance the way they do to create content tho so don't expect that to change, and expect it to get worse when push mode comes out cuz push balance vs conquest balance is going to need different tuning and they aren't going to have time to do that cuz they already don't have time to manage it properly. They will probably turn their main priority to the push mode for pvp tho cuz it's going to be the main mode for most people so team fight balance will be prioritized which means all those builds for like roaming will get less attention and be kinda a problem but it may be negated due to the team fight builds which in itself are going to be a problem cuz they will be too tanky then ppl will find even worse counter builds that are even more annoying and unfun thus my point about worse balance, so enjoy.
And it amuses me that they changed the format from conquest, and all they had to do was create more good maps for the old mode and that would have been enough instead they chose to go around creating something new from . Everyone who plays this game knows how it ends, which you yourself described well. They won't have people/time and they will abandon it explaining the small number of people who play this mode 🤣
This is super minor in the grand scheme of things, but I do hope they eventually go back and retroactively convert previous Legendary Starter Kits into keys.
titans in gw inhabitated the entire fire islands together with mursaat which you needed armor with infusion for. and when you killed them they spawned another enemy and that spawned again two more. they start as warriors then becocome necro and then go back to two warriors. so you had 4 enemies in one which didn't allow you to pull a lot of big groups at once bc you can get overwhelmed easily. Liked gw1 titans. they were gods worshipped by charr. it shows in the effigy designs hell even grothmar valley in gw2 has one of those iirc. the legy spear isn't that hard imo. I had mats for legy pve armor prepared or stocked up. regarding homestead mats I recommend investing gold to max out the homestead and then buy mats for trading. with a maxed out homestead gift of the homesteader can be done in two weeks, bc you got a tradelimit of 800 each week.
So, my educated guess, from knowing the deeper lore about the titans, is that we will see them again. I dont really want to go into details since it might spoil some things that will come up in the next updates, but im pretty sure theyre not gone. It feeling fast is obv a byproduct of the current model, although it felt at least better than soto for me, since there we killed cerus as a climax to the initial release. Like this we had the initial release as build up and the story was structured halfway decent, with its own prologue, climax and epilogue instead of us spending a whole release stumbling into nayos and anet trying to halfheartedly playing up a baddy for us to kill in 1 1/2 chapters. The story bosses, i agree, felt super weak, but that is probably an issue of anet wanting to make the story accessible to everyone regardless of how good their gear or how high their experience level is. Every raider i know thought every story boss since like eod was too easy, but remembering how i was a few years back in the game with my exo gear i gathered from story rewards and my homebrew build with literally 0 knowledge about anything in the game aside from the lore and the story, i probably would have at least found them challenging. If thats a good or a bad thing is a different discussion, but that is about the level i would have expected the bosses to be. The raid and especially Decima and Ura are a step in the right direction for me concerning design philosophies for raid encounters, exactly because there is more individual responsibility placed on everyone instead of outsourcing it to 1-4 people. I kind of expected them to make a beginner raid and use the natural hype a new wing generated to sheppard more people towards the game mode, but clearly anet gave up on that a little bit and see raids as an addon to convergences or other content now, which is fine for me as long as we get more fights like these. :D Im really excited to see what they are going to do for the CM/LM.
Big disappointment that they didn't use Kamala's gate to enter the titan dimension, especially since it's unknown what happens in the torment dimension after kormir escapes
@@RUclipsChillZone Im assuming you mean the Door of Komalie and that is probably lost underneath lava after what happened in prophecies. Also its not entirely true that we know nothing. We know that Balthy used the "reclaimed realm" to gather troops for his invasion of elona through the mouth of torment and we know that demons at least invaded the library after kormir left. But im guessing we will see at least something of the Foundry, since its been namedropped multiple times now, as was the domain of anguish.
For the story, the 3 bosses being super easy was kind of a double edge sword. On one hand i hated it, specially since they tied a don't die achievement to each but was impossible to die to them. But the other hand for decima and greer i already fought them enough in the previous story and was bored of their mechanics (plant trees/lightning rods then chain them down with warclaw) so it was nice to be able to just blast them down to see the new boss. Who at first felt hard as your trying to learn her mechanics but after 30sec was too easy. Overall though in the big picture it was ok for them to be tuned that far down, since we'll see them over and over again in the future and the story, ppl tend to only play it once. Plus the previous story where they had more mechanics was also to kind of teach you for the open world version, raid and convergence. For the leggy spear, i do like that they changed things up, with it only needing the first 2 maps, which means the backpack will need the last 2 maps. Do like that everything can be bought for it, or put in time which realistically only takes 5 weeks, which is when we'll most likely see the prices for the spear drop down to like 3k gold. We'll probably also start seeing a drop of the other materials down a bit more after that aswell, b4 they start going back up for the backpack. I do feel for the spear although it is nice to have all the skins included once you bind it, it would have been nice to see a journey for each one, but.....maybe that's what the fractal will be lol. Overall though id say this expansion is great, and just needs some small tweaks. Like they need something to keep us playing it, cuz as it is now i only do convergence 3 times, the hearts once per week and do daily bee, honey jps and the torch run since there is nothing to really grind for. Where at least with soto their grind for leggy armor was months of about 1 hour per day in their maps.
I worry that we are getting another cerus/epoch situation. However we have seen the titans get resurrected once so whoever their boss is may do it again. Still I feel Ura didn't get a fair shot. There are just so many characters they feel a bit empty. Not that I'm not enjoying them but they could use a bit more time to get fleshed out. We'll see how it ends though.
Great review. Btw they very directly in the blogpost said that wing 8 is not to bring more people in raiding. It is made to satisfy people that already raid or do not and want a challenge and the reuse on several difficulty levels allows them to develop in a way that it is worth it even if it is a niche in the playerbase. They were not targeting to make an introductory raid but just a good raid for the raider.
In the blog post linked here: www.guildwars2.com/en/news/raids-return-to-guild-wars-2-next-week/ they mentioned " -and while each boss will create its own set of challenges, we have designed the normal mode of the raid to allow pickup groups and more casual raiders a chance at success. " Which I believe is what many fixated on.
I spend more or less 1500 gold for the new spear and had a lot of matts in the bank, imo it asks for way too many gifts, I think they runned out of time to plan to do any collections for this spear or was something squedule related. ( I needed it for my Spear dragon hunter)
Nice video! I have to disagree though with your assessment of Decima's difficulty. IMO a lot of people are running it with the ranged group standing still and tanking all the arrows, and that really increases the difficulty of the encounter, since there is more pressure on the healer and kiter, and you can get greens spawning behind the ranged group which can quickly kill an unprepared dps. I much prefer a rotating strategy, where the ranged group moves after each set of arrows, overall making the fight much easier. Most PUGs I'm in usually oneshot Greer (who is trivialized bt reflect as you said), 1-2 shot Decima by rotating, and then struggle a bit more on Ura due to the overall difficulty of seeing if you're targeted by a geyser (which is why people often just run triple heal and stack them on group). However I still agree that it's not an entry level raid as you said.
I found the Titans to be very anticlimactic. Like I know this expansion is meant to be lower stakes from the last one, but at the end I was just like "what was even the point of having them."
To be fair, you had already massively damaged Greer & Decima and were basically finishing them off after they had run and hide. The Ura fight definitely needed to be a bit harder, though, as it didn't feel even as tough as the final fights of the original release. As for Titans in GW1, I can't speak for the ones in the Realm of Torment or the Domain of Anguish, but in the rest of the game, they were at best the difficulty level of Elite Titanspawn, with most probably being equivalent to Veteran Titanspawn. There was one boss Titan, however, in Sacnoth Valley, who might've been the equal of a strong Champion Titanspawn (such as the one at the end of Winding Kant's quest). None, however, were anywhere near as tough as Janthir Titans. Probably whatever mutation gave them their fourth legs made 'em stronger.
For four years of my time in this game, there were not classes in pvp that could kill other players in < 1 second. Now there are. Either it is an imbalance that should be fixed, or a design decision I don't care for. Either way, I'm happy to play other games until it changes, if it ever does.
I did everything for me and stopped playing this patch as fast as I ever have. A convergence that told the same story as the raid with all three bosses could be great, but instead we got a massive waste of development resources on content a small fraction of the playerbase will ever engage with.
Obsidian armor also required insane amounts of motivation grinding, so I'd have to politely disagree with you on that one ^^ Spear's not insane, I've finished it yesterday, but I did play a lot of Janthir....
Gw2 story telling is...not one of their strengths, to put it nicely. Text book example of one-dimentional storyline and characters. They lack the complexity and rich substances and mystery of say... the likes of Elder Scrolls etc. They spoonfed the audiences all the details through 10000 words of dialogs each instances, not trusting folks to be able to figure out plot details and mysteries for ourselves. Character has one single defining traits. Many of the cast are pratically Jesus. The writings, no offense, are of the quality of college creative writing 101 classes. Nowadays, i merely clicked through dialogs at this point.
after this patch i honestly stopped playing...its once again when something on paper sounds cool but execution is so terrible its not even funny. Story is a joke. I gave it one more chance after soto...expac itself was okish, so kinda on netrual here but this patch really pushed it so low i cant take it anymore. Bring quickly gw3 and stop beating dead horse anet.
Because there was very little to do, everyone cleaned up at the premiere and there is nothing to do for the next 3 months. If they made at least 1 armor set in the style of the gloves that Ura drops, maybe more people would play, but currently there is no point
they fixed the character model limit thing not showing mechanic indicators....also, lava is fixed. Maybe review your vids before they go out when there have been significant patches between record and publishing them?
Lava bug fix is mentioned in the video (Editor Note at 7:44) and for your information the character model stuff WASN'T FIXED (especially since it's not specific to Decima, it happens at other places), the fix you seem to think about is "Fixed an issue in which some of Convergence Decima's attack indicators would be culled, REGARDLESS OF SETTINGS.", that's note what he was talking about.
Storywise it's very cringe that one of the only strong male leaders (Isgarren) is reduced to an angry/grumbly old man, who is (obviously) overreacting and wrong. Can Anet dial down the estrogens and give us a good and strong male leader who is not incompetent or proven wrong by a strong female?
I understand the impression that Anet story leans a little to the liberal all inclusive side, but your reaction is exposing your own insecurities and weakness. 😮
Don't ever forget that ASSes used to cost like 30g a piece and people still needed 100 of those (and made leggys week 1). So, if someone's crazy to rush it, by all means (those shards are down to 2ish gold now)

It is made to satisfy people that already raid or do not and want a challenge and the reuse on several difficulty levels allows them to develop in a way that it is worth it even if it is a niche in the playerbase. They were not targeting to make an introductory raid but just a good raid for the raider.
In the blog post linked here: www.guildwars2.com/en/news/raids-return-to-guild-wars-2-next-week/
they mentioned " -and while each boss will create its own set of challenges, we have designed the normal mode of the raid to allow pickup groups and more casual raiders a chance at success. " Which I believe is what many fixated on.
Anyone ever notice that Muk only needs notes when Chip is asleep?
Your review video is longer than the content in this update
Balls 😳 counter: 13
You're welcome.
I spend more or less 1500 gold for the new spear and had a lot of matts in the bank, imo it asks for way too many gifts, I think they runned out of time to plan to do any collections for this spear or was something squedule related. ( I needed it for my Spear dragon hunter)
god, imagining a new raid group of players who jumped on soto and janthir, no elite specs, going for the one raid they have access to, christ.
Your German pronounciation is very good
i never raided and puged every single boss. every week since patch landed 😅
Who's even listening to story voice acting, I usually play and when it's talking time it's time to make a coffee, wash dishes, etc
Just depends on what people enjoy in the game, some will value the story most.
the Jnathir shards are less than 2g already
Probably whatever mutation gave them their fourth legs made 'em stronger.
have you considered if it could be a skill issue on your part if you get 1 shot by willbenders
For four years of my time in this game, there were not classes in pvp that could kill other players in < 1 second.
Now there are.
Either it is an imbalance that should be fixed, or a design decision I don't care for. Either way, I'm happy to play other games until it changes, if it ever does.
Bawls....
I did everything for me and stopped playing this patch as fast as I ever have. A convergence that told the same story as the raid with all three bosses could be great, but instead we got a massive waste of development resources on content a small fraction of the playerbase will ever engage with.
PUG raid life
Obsidian armor also required insane amounts of motivation grinding, so I'd have to politely disagree with you on that one ^^ Spear's not insane, I've finished it yesterday, but I did play a lot of Janthir....
New raid is a dead content!
Because there was very little to do, everyone cleaned up at the premiere and there is nothing to do for the next 3 months.
If they made at least 1 armor set in the style of the gloves that Ura drops, maybe more people would play, but currently there is no point
Less than 8k people on gw2efficiency have cleared it so far.. yikes. I wonder how low the replay numbers are.
they fixed the character model limit thing not showing mechanic indicators....also, lava is fixed.
As Ezoroth said, they fixed it while this video was being edited and text on screen mentions that.
Reading can be hard for gamers as we all know ;) 😂
Storywise it's very cringe that one of the only strong male leaders (Isgarren) is reduced to an angry/grumbly old man, who is (obviously) overreacting and wrong. Can Anet dial down the estrogens and give us a good and strong male leader who is not incompetent or proven wrong by a strong female?
From studios based in LA, Austin or New York or any another leftist city? No chance
Stoic Alder? Male commander too technically. I hear what you're saying but I don't think it's as much of a problem in gw2 as you think
This is an imaginary problem. Take your pills
@ spoken like a another woke trash
I understand the impression that Anet story leans a little to the liberal all inclusive side, but your reaction is exposing your own insecurities and weakness. 😮
