    Great work once again Mark, I really appreciate all the editing you put into this, it's a lot of work. If you want an easier video idea, you could just film yourself talking about the gear you take with you to a football match, people love knowing what camera bodies, lenses, and bits and bobs people use for games, and it's an easy one to make. Great ROI for you ;) Keep up the great work.

Between a 28-75 mm f/2.8 and 28-200 mm f/2.8-5.6, based on your experience, what would you recommend if I could only get one lens? (Ideally, it would be 28-70 and 70-180/200 but that's $$$ haha)

I now have a EOSR and whilst I like it for many things I miss the 1 series camera , now back to my main reason for posting this . Hi Mark, loving your videos. Amateur sports photography and learn so much from yourself and other pros. Main issue I am still grappling with is exposure. I just can never decide on ISO. I shoot usually in Manual and manually adjust the ISO but tend to not go above 500. I am wondering should I use Auto ISO and secondly am I just being cowardly by not bumping up the ISO? The sports I shoot include soccer and other fast paced sports so constantly adjusting iso is something I would rather not have to do during a game. My gear is intermediate - Nikon D7500, Tamron 70-200. Decent enough for me who is not doing this for pay (yet) and I get some good stuff but would like to be brave enough just shoot and not be checking and adjusting every 10 seconds . Does any of this make any sense? Any advice?. Should I just try out next game? Cheers.

      Hiya. Thanks for watching, glad its helped you out a bit. Yes, that all makes sense. I would defo try Auto ISO for sure. Just always remember to keep an eye on it through the shoot. My 1dx's are great for high ISO's so I know I can get away with keeping it on Auto. However, some bodies soon get very noisy at 3200 plus, so just be careful. Have a go on auto iso for the next game and let us know how you get on.

    I just found your channel...and have enjoyed all of your videos. I noticed that you rarely shoot at f/2.8...which most sports photographers do with the lens you use (myself included). while I'm certain you do it to gain more DofF with multiple players in the frame, but do you ever find that you wish you had more background separation/blur? This also assumes you have enough light to keep the ISO down. just curious. Keep up the great work on the videos. You are touching on many topics that most sports photographers do not.

      @@MarkKerton Understood. Please don't take my comments as though I thought anything was wrong with your photos not shot at f/2.8. What is going into your decision on choosing what f stop to use?

    • @MarkKerton
      @MarkKerton  4 года назад +2

      Hi John. F stop choice mainly stays the same on each lens. For the 400 I like to have a shallow depth of field, so the player is prominent against the back drop. I might knock it up to f4 or f5.6 for the opposite goal mouth action, if there’s time to alter it! This just giving me a better chance of achieving sharpness for the group of players. With the 70-200 I always keep it slightly wider at f5.6 to ensure at least 2 or 3 players are sharp enough for any action in the box area. Sometimes it all happens so fast changing from the 400 to the 70-200 my focus area can be slightly off the main player and f5.6 just helps me out a fraction. Hope that helps👍🏻
