so lame how everyone is just complaining about the choice of songs, when the best music is always subjective. i appreciate that this list has some songs you dont usually see in videos like this. and you edit like someone with 200k subs, not 20k. i think you'll get there and improve your video making skills on the way.
I actually did start with a few of these back in the day just starting out and getting skills up. Began early on with punk - then moved through classic rock, onto progressive, then stuck to power/prog... along the way, started to just run scales, focusing on note articulation and speed, then found more exotic scales, and some theory... then learned to mix it up, see "patterns and shapes" as I ran various modes... then that laid the foundations to really "shred" on bass, since I'm of that style mostly when I play... decided I liked descending and ascending strings, so I went up to 6 string over the years... but for bassists that seem to have complete mastery over every aspect I think Mr. Franck Hermanny is probably as good as it gets, without much doubt. That's what I practiced learning to aspire towards as I got pretty good, then once I mastered all the bass stuff from the "so-called legends" out there, there wasn't a lot left to pursue. Hope you like my dumb story - illness slowed me down in the end, but I had fun, and still do jam a bit here and there... Anyway, no doubt he could cover about everything, while almost nobody could cover anything he plays that's of his own original making. I don't believe any of the "greats" can do this kinda stuff... sadly. But that's how music goes at every position and band - the most skilled are not really noticed, but the "top guys" in the public are far from the best out there. Came here to make sure Flea got something in the list lol. Good video, you might be able to get more traffic to this if you put the songs in the description!
This list would be much better called "A random selection of songs that have bass guitar in them, including a couple that are somewhat cool sounding, but are all great for that 1st year self-taught bass player to utilize as he becomes a bit less newby, but are fun-ish to play." Nothing here is top 20 anything, except pop chart standings, except for a couple maybe. Imho
Tip: For the Come Together riff keep your index finger on the A string and slide all the way up to the 15th fret, at which point play F on the D string 15th fret then D on the A string 17th fret with a little hammer on. Sounds way better ;) Do the same on the E string for the A, slide all the way up to 15th fret then hit the C 15th fret A string and pull bend it to a C# Brings it to life! No need to thank me :)
Perfectly done tutorial, will recommend this to my friends who are wanting to learn a bunch of songs on bass, Thank you for a super clean, helpful and straight to the point tutorial.

Gotta say something here. First of all, very good job of making a tutorial, borders perfection ! However, your choices are at least .. uhm... debatable. You mention Another bites the dust, but not Chic's rhythm "Good Times", where Queen and a lot of others got their inspiration from. Most songs are base players from Rock music, and playing bass with a plectrum is using the bass as an extension of the rhythm guitar. I think what makes up memorable bass lines is the ones where they actually carry the song. Where it's not just melody, but amplifies the pure rhythm, like extending the drums. And then you have to mention funk music ! I can't even start to make a list of them, and not just the Chili peppers. What about Jamaican reggae ? Aston Barrett ? No ? I guess , in the end, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
