I found myself in a serral maelstrom, I can't get enough of his games, he has my respect as a gamer. I use to always choose protoss, but he inspires me to learn zerg, a race that always have overwhelmed and scared me away. I am going to play starcraft and train seriously. It's unfinished business.
Congrats to Serral. So excited for this year of SC2. Every year is amazing.
Serral plays the swarm like THE SWARM
Actions Per Minute my friend, he's ALWAYS a good 50-80 APM every game. Zerg can NEVER win an even Army vs Army fight, Terran too tanky and Protoss too much AOE and Burst. But, when you know how to Swarm: You win every other engagement. destroy the production line, destroy the outer nexus, destroy misplaced battalions, then it will never be an Even Fight. If your army supply never is more than a Zergs: Sorry mate, it'll be GG.
Yes, apm isn't the only way to win, I'm just sayin every great Zerg Player could literally play like a Swarm. Pretty frightening..

You guys should add like at least an hour of just blank screen at the end of these videos. So something like 3:30:00 duration instead of 2:24:26. That would mean the duration of the video wouldn't spoil the result. "Can Showtime win 4 games in 40 minutes? Or does Serral win 1 and then there are 20 minutes of talking/celebration?"

You could always watch the video without paying attention to the time in the video or the total duration.

In game 3, Serral was like a cat that plays with its food before eating it. He could have easily won many times but allowed him to keep going, giving the illusion of a possible Victoria, like when he basically allows Showtime the bases I the upper right corner of the map
He’s a very careful player that picks his fights. Dark on the other hand will sense a vulnerability, drop everything, and do an allin.
Serral should lead Finnish defence forces.
Even though I lost this time, I think " neeb " players are the best performing overseas!

I’m always glad when a final isn’t ZvZ. I personally love watching a PvZ or TvZ but a mirror match with Zerg is just not the same.

I feel like blindsiding Serral is possible but it only works once and he will make sure to kick your teeth in from various angles in every subsequent game
ok they are pro and brobably the best in eu or whatever. but where is the deal building a new main building with a drone witch has "minerals in mouth" ? isnt that a wast of 5 minerals, i mean they are so into eco and micro/macro. that just hurts my eyes

I've been in a Starcraft binge for the last month but I havent found any yet (but I also havent been looking)
I get lags every few seconds the screen freezes for 1-2 secs.... can somebody help ??? I tryed preloader, Compability of Windows 7. Back in the Days when SC2 was released even with my older PC I never had some issues...
Happy for Zerg Player, My favors to play Zerg since first SC released but I couldnt make it done. I am nearly 40yr old and my figures/ hands are not smart & quick enough to start over again.
yup im 35 now and my kids play.. but with some practice got my apm to 200. playing zerg very quickly is like my lumosity brain training.

Everytime I see PvZ Airfights, I wonder why the Protoss doesn't target fire the 2-4 Overseers, while having everything cloaked...
Wouldn't that be instant victory?
It wouldn't be, the Zerg anti-air would just target fire the cloaker and pick it off. Cloaking is completely useless at such a high level unless you're using dark templar sneak tactics.
He got too eager to close it out with rushes but it's really his macro and late game attack strategies/tactics that shine.

I was a WoL player back in the day but fell out of the scene. SUddenly got curious as to how the meta was doing since the expansions. I mained zerg, loved the race conceptually but the lack of map control for most of the game was really frustrating. It's awesome to see how much potential zerg has nowadays.

Very few players can take on the kinda army seen game 3, serrals use of infestors without the aid of many vipers was flawless in that match, taking advantage of any over extension made by showtime.
No race is overpowered, they all have their weaknesses and all have their strengths, protos could be argued to be OP if you look at their ability to build the most OP army comp in the game.
terran can also build an OP army with siege tanks and ghosts.
zerg cannot build an OP army, best they can do it counter the OP armies, which is their strength and their weakness.
If zerg were OP then i would expect this match to have been ZvZ not PvZ.
One could potentially argue that zerg has a higher skill ceiling due to their need to expand very fast, manage creep and be able to counter the opponent and defend very sporadic base placements.
Serral has simply gotten closer to that skill ceiling than any non korean has before.

Can't believe people are out here saying Toss is so OP. He turtled as hard as possible for the entire game and everyone is out here saying "WOW HOW DOES HE DO IT??? TOSS OP!" He had shield batteries, cannons and Sim city. On top of late game protoss units. Which are supposed to be strong. Even then that same comp lost the first two games because it's a dangerous tech switch. And beyond that, he never even left his side of the map. Zerg was out here showing how strong it is controlling the map and remaxing late game. And no one says anything about that? Dear lord there's some Zerg mains in here tonight. Grats to the champ he played a great series.

Toss is OP if you don't know how to play against them. Although I will say that late game Toss army does have a high skill floor to stand up against.
Just like the Terran harrass IMO.

The key to zerg play is being able to fight, lose the fight but weaken enemy army, then use banked larva to build reinforcement wave of counter units for the win. Serral didn't really even have to do this, showing how dominant he was. Showtime was just straight out classed
Are you out of your mind, what showtime did is kinda what happens in ladder from d2 or higher, what serral did is only seen in master 1 or higher, there's significant diference in the skill required to pull out the game like that.
@Russell kirkham No denying Serral had Showtime outclassed but the efficiency of trading with hydra/roach against a late game toss army looks disconcerting at its face. Granted Serral was masterful in pulling that toss army out of position and split up. To me Hydras/Lurkers look a bit too strong at the moment but I am a toss main so I may be biased haha.
Does anyone else feel like the players can hear something from commentary. Serial defending the storm drop without spotting seems strange

As a Zerg you have to be careful against toss and Terran because their static D is so good. You can have 3 more expos than them, but throw the game because you lose your entire army against an expo.

I find these commentators often miss areas of the map where battles are being made, albeit small ones, and they often keep the information overlays (income deficit etc) visible for way too long.
It's not often commentators make a game less fun to watch, but that's actually the case for this match.

Love this fight.. I think showtime can win if he tries to move aggressive. Sorry to say i saw all his (showtime) hesitation grounds even lot of game is in his grasp of winning. Still its serral hard to contest with his game play.

Hello, I'm a newbie here. But could someone explain why Showtime's Protoss army kept being defeated in whole scale battle on the first round? I've seen their army looks evenly matched, but Serral keep winning majestly on a full battle. Does showtime make a mistake on the army variation?
It's true that both armies were about equal, but in the 1st game, but Showtime went for the capital ships (mothership, carriers) and archons. Those have very high damage output and utility, but their biggest drawback is that they aren't very mobile an that they have to stay together (that's called a "deathball").
Serral exploits these weaknesses optimally. Serral always has some units (zerglings/dropalords/...) which are more mobile and can do a nice bit of damage to the economy. If Showtime overreacts with a part of his army, Serral attacks the other part with his main army and crushes it. If he doesn't react, he loses economy. So Serral always forces Showtime to split his army optimally and that is not easy to do.
In the end, Showtime is stuck on a dwindling 4-base-economy, while Serral takes the rest of the map and starves Showtime out of the game.

I haven't played SC2 in a really long time but did they get rid of Collosus? Why am I not seeing any Collosus unit comp to go with the Immortal, Archon, Templar comp? Collosus with extended thermal lance would do amazing against the Hydras/Lurkers.
I believe the Colossi have been nerfed since their days of glory. Correct me if I'm wrong, though.
Can someone explain win conditions for these tournaments? As someone who's barely played the games seem to end quite abruptly.
Mostly one of the players gives up the game because they realise they can't win anymore. That's why these games end before all of the enemy buildings have been destroyed.
