I followed Starcraft all years until a couple years ago, checking back on what has happened since then it's cool to see how Serral dominates and how a guy from Italy of all countries do such an impressive job of almost taking down Serral!
1:04:08 I haven't seen Serral faltering like this before, and in the next game he failed his all-in attempt at 7 minute. he obviously did not seem to be at his best condition throughout this whole tournament. But then he calmed himself down, defended against Reynor for over 20 minutes(his hatchery had been destroyed over 5 times), continuously sent roaches to harass Reynor, and did all micro for his units and crawlers as he could, to finally turn over the game. And that decision to nydus in the final game. This win is very well deserved for Serral. And my best thanks to both players to show the best bo7 zvz series i've ever seen.
I think he may have finally felt the pressure. After winning GSL vs. The World, people have been talking about him in different terms, and while he always felt winning three WCS in a row was improbable, he definitely thought winning four was, and that's going to affect even an outwardly stoic player like Serral eventually. Plus, let's face it, ZvZ is pretty stressful. It's fast-paced, even the tiniest of mistakes can cost a game, and he had to play a LOT of ZvZ games to get to this final. Perhaps this just proves Serral is human after all. Hopefully he takes from this tournament many useful lessons, and his win gives him a greater sense of confidence having survived the gauntlet. He's accomplished a stunning amount of tournament achievements against some very good players, and he should feel very proud of that. He's left an indelible mark on the history of this game, and the way Zerg is played.
Also I think after game 5 he felt like he actually screwed up because he supply blocked himself those last two minutes. Serral is stupid good. All that Roach micro was so balsy but just slowly slowly slowly got it back. Unreal.
Guys it is really hard to play at this level and micro so well. There is no surprise mistakes happen. Look at all hte micro in zerglings and banelings skirmishes alone. Most players can't do that alone. Now imagine behind that you have to macro as well.
An outstanding series for Serral and Reynor! I did not feel any frustrations on Reynor's end because the rate of his improvement is high I should say. It's just that Serral had way too many experiences comparing to Reynor that he had taken this championship. On this WCS cup, Reynor is my MVP. Hats off REYNOR!!!!! Congrats Serral on your 4th WCS Champioship! Awaiting for your reign in Blizzcon!
Except the fact that during the siege 1:11:02 Serral just sent his crucial 8 banelings throught the attack command and they all suicided into 2 lings and one drone... -_-
Was that... one of the best ZvZs.. ever? Unbelievably entertaining. On top of that this was a stunning tournament as always. Great casters, players, crowd, just an amazing time. And Reynor! Children should not be allowed to be that good at StarCraft.
Reynor is continually getting good for someone so young. I expect great things later. He seemed to play better than he did even not so long ago when we were saying very much similar things about him. Didn't expect him to take 3 off of Serral.
I'm really surprised Reynor did so well, but this is GREAT news for the future of SC2. Reynor can be a great zerg player on the level of Serral someday.
I don't think it's so unexplainable. For years, decades really, the foreign scene has been told again and again that the Koreans are invincible. Then foreigners started learning from the Koreans, how they practice, how they study, and started to try harder, and make some decent showings against them. I think with Serral winning GSL vs. The World, and just his dominance across the WCS, we're going to see foreigners all over the world saying to themselves "I can do that too if I work hard enough". There's nothing magical about being Korean that makes you good at Starcraft. They work hard, perhaps for a long time harder than anyone. But now foreigners are working hard too, and they sense that, through Serral's example, now is the time for the foreign scene to do well at Starcraft too. If Serral does win, or even just gets to the final series at BlizzCon, I think we're going to see a ton of new very good foreign players in Starcraft 2, young kids coming out of the woodwork from very unexpected places, and I think we're going to see an elite cadre of foreign Starcraft 2 players emerge who really up the level of skill to challenge that longstanding Korean dominance of the game. There will probably be some familiar names in that cadre, and probably some new ones too. That said, I'm sure the Koreans are going to work even harder, and start preparing better against foreigners, as they see this rise in foreign skill. There's a lot of pride at stake, and there's no doubt some big egos among the Korean pros who don't like seeing foreigners winning games against them. Again, I think a new elite cadre of Koreans, who are willing to work just that little extra bit harder, are going to emerge as well. Again, probably a mix of familiar names and new names among them. I think we're at the cusp of a revolution in the Starcraft 2 scene. This whole thing makes for a great story, and people love great stories. It will attract new talent, new fans, and sustain this game for years to come.
i was so happy when i saw lambo advising serral in between games! i think lambo is a really good guy, down to earth and humble and funny. Glad we can watch him at blizzcon!
They are both amazing. Actually I couldn't decide which player to support, because I wanted Serral to win and be the first player to win 4 consecutive WCS, but also wanted for Raynor to go to Blizzcon. Also, I have noticed that Raynor mess up late game. He got such advantage in income/army more than once in this tournament and lot of times he fail to use it. I hope he mend it so he can be Serral succesor next year or two.
It's really simple on why he failed later. His bread and butter is always the constant harass, zergling runbys, etc. That can get him a lot of early leads when the other player doesn't play defense perfectly. But it also means that your specialty is not in large late game engagements and warfare. Raynor needs to develop more strategies; he did the same sort of game like in pretty much all of them, with some tweaks here and there - and that one time he went largely roach first and got zling speed late (unusual for him; but it backfired as we saw in that game).
The mistake that really made Reynor lose that game (which the casters missed) is Reynor has way more resources to remax but he didnt do so right away, potentially he didnt have the larvae because he was multitasking to hard to inject. So when Reynor killed the base and didnt leave, serals remax was faster even though it would have been smaller if reynor just pulled back and spent all his resources but idk. Serral still had more drones but the slow remax was a huge mistake.
Serral taking out the Koreans at GSL vs the World, Neeb getting to semi finals in GSL. Reynor beat Classic and gave Maru some real problems, now he nearly took out Serral. The Korean throne is crumbling.
@@liersiron5444 I think one big reason is that funding in Korea has been much bigger in eSports for so long. Now however there is alot of money available in many countries, so it is attracting alot more people and talent.
The rest of the world was bound to start catching up at some point. It isn't like there is some sort of biological reason for Koreans to be better at video games. It is all about environment. As eSports becomes more accepted and popular in other countries, more resources and scouting will go into it and everyone will start producing better and better players. We can see it beginning.
Serral is just basic young finnish guy who plays a lot of sc2 =). They aren't socially well developed at that age, think when he gets older he will be more talkative with better english too.
He will also have friends, gf, maybe family and play a lot less and his skill and results will plummet. That is how the life goes. Unless he decides to fully dedicate to Stacraft, but is it worth it? Compared to what the traditional sport athletes make? I dont know.
I love Game 1 and 6 because they're basically the same scenario, the win was achieved with the same decision, but with a different detail due to the size of the map and the time when the decision was made. In both cases Serral spots Reynor's Spire and he immediately decides to attack while Raynor's ground army isn't big yet and his Muta count low. However, he isn't in a place where he has other anti-air units, so he has to use his Queens, which are notoriously slow off creep, to support his ground army. Game 1. Serral sees the Spire at 15:26 and queues another 3 Queens. 15:37 he makes a creep tumor spawn forward and at 15:44 another two go down. 16:07 he only makes one creep tumor spawn forward, maybe he's thinking the Mutas are gonna show up and take it out, which does happen at 16:11, but he gets the cancel before they do. 16:21 the Mutas move north and he resumes spreading the creep, but now with both tumors cause he knows where they are. At 16:52 he's still moving those two tumors forward for his reinforcements. Game 6. The Spire is spotted at 1:49:01 and, again, more Queens are queued almost immediately. However, this time he sees the Spire way earlier and this map is bigger. Spreading creep via tumors to reach even just the middle of the distance in this map would take much more time than the map in Game 1. So, since he's got a bit more time, he decides to go for a Nydus.
WCS is tacky and amateurish in general. They don't take it seriously. That sucks when even the esport community doesn't take itself seriously. Who else is going to?
yes. not good at all. I wish it'd be just a zoom in, it's not even that, it's a combo tracking+zooming that is very, very novice like. unless you are hitchcock =P
This series is absolutely crazy, I am speechless, I can't believe he actually won this. Absolute hero. I am sad Raynor will be missing at Blizzcon but Serral will be even better after this tournament being so tested...
I'm really impressed at Serral, I haven't played multiplayer but just completed single player which is not a big deal, and it was then I came to know that SC2 is such a great game having such a great platform !!
At what point will the contrast/colors for the gameplay be fixed? Every broadcast I've ever watched on this channel has been weirdly low-contrast and grey.
Good commentating and even better games. I'm not a fan of zerg as I think they're a tad op, but hats off to those 2. Two of the best players in the world.
To me, it seemed like with whomever was popping into his booth in between rounds, serral was analyzing reynors base layouts and what not, and held that nydus push for the last game, gathering intel in the other games leading up to it, strengthening its chance to win at the end. Strategy, that is where serral dominated Reynor. Tactics, I think Reynor was the better, but his lack of experience, although he is shoring it up amazingly quick, proved to be the crack that Serral wedged open to win this. Serral may have indeed pulled the SC equivalent of a Triple (ahem...Quadruple) crown, but Next year, I'm going to be in camp Reynor. Next year he will put on a show that is truly and utterly spectacular.
Rooted for Serral. Then I rooted for Reynor. Then I just couldn't decide anymore lol. Went back to see this only to come up with a scenario of how epic it would have been if Reynor would bow down to Serral as a humble funny gesture and now that Reynor beat Serral at a Grand Final, Serral would return the favor. Just my wet dreams
Agreed, but I have been a fan for at least a couple years now, well before she got in any of these major tournaments, and when it was still small potatoes stuff at things like Nation Wars. Now since she is big though, it is annoying how all the haters have come out smacking her as if she is annoying and doesn't do well, and is some sort of diversity thing. But they obviously haven't paid attention that well, or her grip on the game (easily master level, as some of what we have seen in her game play competition has shown), and not a total noob of an understanding at the game. It gets kind of annoying arguing with these people though.
Why didn't either player use infestors in the super long game? It was just roach/viper/hydra/lurker for each side. Infestors would make a great addition.
I'm sorry, I need to poo poo. Actually swarm hosts are very very slow and that was clearly a battle where mobility mattered the vipers would have had a field day and the lurkers counter them pretty hard.
I think it would be too hard to control well, can you imagine splitting your army to flank and trying to control 2 different casters in each group? then again I'm not Serral…
The stakes for serral: making history with the first season long winning streak. The stakes for reynor: making history being the youngest person to win WCS Also going to blizzcon.
WOW!! Say what you want, Reynor the Kid gave it to Serral balls deep. I’ve never seen Serral up against the wall like that. He’s already terrorizing the main guy!! Reynor is going to terrorize this whole game in a year, or so.
Reynor is definitely one to watch. This is a really exciting time for Starcraft 2. Foreigners everywhere are really working hard at the game and getting quite good at it. I think it's bringing a lot of new interest into the game as well. We'll probably see many new names in the next couple years inspired by the likes of Serral.
nicegoodspeed1, true, but I’m talking about THE BATTLES. Sure, Koreans take games off of Serral, but it’s usually because Serral went with the wrong strategy to win out the gate. Those matches are over before they even begin. That can happen in any pvp. Reynor was OUTPLAYING Serral in the long game, straight up! Very different, and rarely seen!! Maybe Scarlett, Maru and TY recently, but those are Top 5 type players, and more “mature” than Reynor!! In some of those battles, he was giving Serral a beatdown!! Outtrading him. I don’t see that much against Serral.
nicegoodspeed1, saw that game! Talk about a “Gouda one”... I’ve seen quesadillas with less cheese!! Winning is winning, but I’d rather see players win with better trades than trickery. Very clever, though. You have to know the maps better than your opponent to pull that off on the regular.
I just want to add one thing : you don't know where the players ceiling is. Maybe reynor will be the best SC2 player ever next year, or he has hit his ceiling now. Prodigys come and go who are said to be the best and change the game. Yet there are only few who become so good, they belong in the hall of fame. I think reynor is amazing, and he has a bright future, but we don't know. You see college basketball players who are so good, that people say : man they are the next Michael Jordan. And 5 years later they aren't even playing NBA. It takes a lot to be the best. More than we know, and more than only skill :)
Serral had it relatively easy, he only ever had to prepare for ZvZ ^^ BlizzCon will be decided between Serral and Maru. One won every WCS event, the other every GSL in one year
Hey, I like what are you doing, but why are these matches so late uploaded? I was forces to watch it at some russian channel, fffs. Do better next time please!!!
They are actually better in early game most of the times (Serral was King in early/mid games before), now he is better in late game, and other players will catch up ofc. And it just might be that he was really tired, I saw him losing focus more than once during match ups.
Every person in the game is studying and sharing ideas on how to beat him specifically. Each game is new data. Honestly it's a Miracle they haven't figured it out yet. And a testament to serral. Let's face it, maru is the only one that has a real chance. You don't think Terran received so many buffs for nothing do you? The whole world is against him, including the game designers
They need to shake the bottle before they give it to the serral so it achieves the effect they are looking for. He opens it then shakes which is backwards.
Serral isn't getting weak the other scenes are learning from him and improving their own game. Global finals won't be like GSL vs the world. Serral faced off against one foreigner, Innovation who is ranked 13th in Korea because he isn't even top 16 in the world, Dark 3-1, and Stats 4-3, where Stats started off 2-0. When talking about top players, it's very easy to lose 2 matches and get kicked out in the group stage. Instead of beating two top Korean players Serral will have to beat 5., there's an enormous difference. If the Korean standings stay where they are and TY and Gumiho go to Serral's bracket. Serral might not even get out of the first round. There's a lot of Korean pride on the line and I'm sure everyone is going to help Gumiho and TY to take down Serral. Special wants to know how to do it, Maru, Gumiho, TY, Creator, Cure, and others. If Serral wins Blizzcon that will prove he's the best in the world because the odds are stacked against him.
is serral lose a bet or something? he got to play 5 games in best of 5 and 7 games in bo 7, but the last game of everymatch up he rekt everything as usual.
Man who to root for? The Hero or the Golden Child? The only sad thing about this series is that Reynor won't be at Blizzcon despite having shown he's more deserving than most of the higher seeds.
Just a question guys? Why have u waited so long to post this final? I mean the replay was avaible from crank TV but in Korean and you guys what were u doing during three days getting drunk or sleeping? Come on not serious finally the replay with English caster is here... Finally!!
The day will be incredible that Serral wins Blizzcon, on top of four WCS championships and GSL, *OR* a challenger eventually beats him in the grand final. Serral ought to retire then and make bank being a Star Craft instructor. I'd pay good money to be a student at the feet of this grandmaster.(Zerg) I'd pay good money too to Maru to improve my Terran.
Game starts at 9:42
Thanks i love you for that :D
True hero in the comments
Huge respect for that kid Raynor. He's the future but Serral is ... just Serral :)
Yeah…

Please improve the titles!! It´s impossible to follow the competiton in a corrrect order.....
Woah. This is great. And here I am on youtube trying to figure out the correct order without too many spoilers on whoes going to win.
Yeah, man. It's a fantastic site. Share it with your confused brethren struggling with youtube algorithms.
also please add race label ( [Z] vs [Z] or ZvZ)
dope
thats the point?
Wow. The best ZvZ series in the history of SC2. Thank you Serral, and Reynor.
That game 6 is INSANE! Got me so nervous
+1, me too...
It was so close serral nearly didn't win all 4 WCS events
Except the fact that during the siege 1:11:02 Serral just sent his crucial 8 banelings throught the attack command and they all suicided into 2 lings and one drone... -_-
well, i what put him on the back foot and made the whole game a tense comeback. The MU is all about who makes less mistakes
I don't even know how Serral won....
Was that... one of the best ZvZs.. ever? Unbelievably entertaining.
On top of that this was a stunning tournament as always. Great casters, players, crowd, just an amazing time. And Reynor! Children should not be allowed to be that good at StarCraft.
Good fight kid, your time will come.
Indeed. Underrated comment.
Good prediction, reynor is winner wcs summer 2019
very good prediction, he became world champion
Reynor is great. Serral is greatness
Jacob Andersen Serral is inhuman
Reynor is continually getting good for someone so young. I expect great things later. He seemed to play better than he did even not so long ago when we were saying very much similar things about him. Didn't expect him to take 3 off of Serral.
TBH sometimes seem that he is toying with his opponent. He loses a couple of games and them just crushes them.
I'm really surprised Reynor did so well, but this is GREAT news for the future of SC2. Reynor can be a great zerg player on the level of Serral someday.

Serral at 1:57:01, trying to resist his finnish urges to not to drink the whole bottle right there.
Jajajaja buena esa Pedro
Wrong country, the Finnish people like their saunas, they don’t like alcohol
@Tagged since when did my countrymen not like alcohol? its like common for table vodka to be on table in roomtemp ready to be drunk
You have obviously never been to Finland
Best ZvZ ever, serral is the most skilled player of all time. So much apm, decision making, just crazy how he took back game 6
I like Reynor more because you can tell in the interviews he CAN acutally smile and enjoys himself. Also Maru is better and he can smile as well.
yeah it comes to personality, serral is more like a cold heart hard worker, really serious. ps: Maru isnt better. we will see soon ;)

This series was so exciting. Two very, very talented guys.
Thanks for posting this event ! It was amazing all round !
Serral
God mode:on
Great series and great casting, this is what SC2 is all about
That game 6.. the focus from serral the comeback.. wow.. he is NOT human..
I got a question. Why aren’t there any Korean players in this wcs? Are there some rules?
I think this is the WCS world tournament or something. Koreans fight in the WCS Korea league.
PiG & ZombieGrub did a great job here. Thanks for the commentary!

Gracias joven Serral,es un buen jugador del star craft 2.
This might be a bit persnickety, but the zooming shots on the players are incredibly tacky and amateurish. Imo it should be a clean professional zoom.

Really makes you wonder when Gimbals started existing lol. But then again, I'm guessing the amateurish feel was done on purpose :)
That's a fantastic final series! Some of the best games to watch
Is there any place to look those games in better quality? 720p sucks.
This series is absolutely crazy, I am speechless, I can't believe he actually won this. Absolute hero. I am sad Raynor will be missing at Blizzcon but Serral will be even better after this tournament being so tested...
Serral has been looking a bit weak. But that 6th and 7th game both were mind blowing. Great ZvZ match.
Haven't seen much ultra late game zvz much. Rare thing to see.
Also hilarious that this is his weak form, and he's still squeezing out a WCS 1st place... But man, imagine Reynor 4 years later.
Maybe he will get a life in 4 years and go to school or something, instead of playing a dead game :)
lol
Yeah, part way through game 6 he cranks it up to 11.
I'm really impressed at Serral, I haven't played multiplayer but just completed single player which is not a big deal, and it was then I came to know that SC2 is such a great game having such a great platform !!
Amazing ZvZ. Serral How do you do that?!
At what point will the contrast/colors for the gameplay be fixed? Every broadcast I've ever watched on this channel has been weirdly low-contrast and grey.
What's the song at 49:33 ? I've been trying to find it and I absolutely can't.
I dont here a song. Isnt that just standard sc2 ambient music?
Soundtrack 19:12?
ZvZ can be the most boring matchup, but this was an incredible series. Definitely the best ZvZ I can remember watching.
Good commentating and even better games. I'm not a fan of zerg as I think they're a tad op, but hats off to those 2. Two of the best players in the world.
Blizzcon is going to be awesome this year.
Game 6 was heartbreaking. The best ZvZ I have ever seen
Spoilers, Zerg Won...
as usual
Everything is fine as long as there isn't a swarmy race like Terran there! Cause TvsZs are boring until Zerg is maxed out and can attack as well.
Thank god, no terrans were harmed during this grand final.
One of the best games I've ever seen
Rooted for Serral. Then I rooted for Reynor. Then I just couldn't decide anymore lol. Went back to see this only to come up with a scenario of how epic it would have been if Reynor would bow down to Serral as a humble funny gesture and now that Reynor beat Serral at a Grand Final, Serral would return the favor. Just my wet dreams
ZombieGrub is quickly developing into my favourite caster for these kinds of matches - love the commentary together with PiG!
Has anyone seen Serral's stapler? He's going to set the building on fire.
haHA
Why is there no umbrella in his Mai Tai
It would be insanely hard to set a building like that on fire you'd have to shut down the fire suppression systems and even then good luck
Why didn't either player use infestors in the super long game? It was just roach/viper/hydra/lurker for each side. Infestors would make a great addition.
Reynor could have use swarmhosts and eat away at Serral army and workers since he had him completely contained.
The stakes for reynor: making history being the youngest person to win WCS Also going to blizzcon.
serral gifted AF mechanically. Go watch him in 1st person its something to behold
Hm interesting prognosis, yet only time will show whether or not Reynor can become as dominant as Serral.
1:05:18 imo the best game in the series
RIP Geoff InControl Robinson - you were the best of us
Serral had it relatively easy, he only ever had to prepare for ZvZ ^^
BlizzCon will be decided between Serral and Maru. One won every WCS event, the other every GSL in one year
LOL.
Hey, I like what are you doing, but why are these matches so late uploaded? I was forces to watch it at some russian channel, fffs. Do better next time please!!!
it would be very nice, if the uploads could be in chronological order.
Serral: "desire is irrelevant, I am a MACHINE"
why serral lost the 3 match???
Serral is great, not invincible.
Serral's mental slow grinder in game 6 broke his opponent once again, what a brilliant game 7 follow up!
outstanding grand finale!
Why does it feel like Serral is losing more maps than usual in Montreal? It's like people are catching up to the king.
They are actually better in early game most of the times (Serral was King in early/mid games before), now he is better in late game, and other players will catch up ofc. And it just might be that he was really tired, I saw him losing focus more than once during match ups.
It's because they study Serral play style and adapted to him. And they learn some of Serral game play too.
Serral is the current king so everyone is studying and finding strategies specially to fight serral
Starcraft 2..... the best anime of 2018!
They need to shake the bottle before they give it to the serral so it achieves the effect they are looking for. He opens it then shakes which is backwards.
High level zoom loks amazing. Props to the zerg child prodiogy.
2. Game very well played by Reynor, very nice with those banelings
Well done the players. Zombie Grub had a good tournament. Think she will be a good commentator in the future.
I have a feeling that Serral often lets them win a couple games, just to get in their heads.
respect for serral staying in to the end on 2nd game
omg what a series
Nathaniel is actually a young time travelling Bill Murray
"Take my spaghetti" best poster ever
That sneaky play in the last game. Fantastic.
This guy is unstoppable now!
Min 40:00: I wonder what was Lambo doing near Serral there ...
So i guess the guy at 43:15 knows who is Serral now.....
Watching Reynor I think to myself
“I’m just as old as him, what have I accomplished in my life?”
I'm older than him, that's worst lol
Stop comparing yourselves to Reynor and do what you guys do best
It's good to see good battles
Great games! These kids are good
49:03 best part
Pretty insane game 5. Raynor just was too impatient to capitalize on his significant early lead.
Finally!!
1:34:45 that flank by Serral was so sick
starts at 11:00
Gracias Señor MR bing
I liked the games. Very good. Don't like it that reynor went down to 20 drones in g6. I think he threw away the game doing this.
The day will be incredible that Serral wins Blizzcon, on top of four WCS championships and GSL, *OR* a challenger eventually beats him in the grand final.
Serral ought to retire then and make bank being a Star Craft instructor.
I'd pay good money to be a student at the feet of this grandmaster.(Zerg)
I'd pay good money too to Maru to improve my Terran.
6th game is amazing! Great competition after all
that bane hit at 39:00 was clutch
we are at a point where zvz is fun to watch!
Bruh, that 6th game push both sides’ patience and skill.
Game 6 at 1:22:18, Reynor corrosive biles his own overseers, pretty big mistake there.
Game 7, I could only notice Reynor swaying his head everywhere while Serral was stone cold focused on the match right b4 GG
That was just amazing.
just watched the 2 best players WOW
