I lived here for 18 yrs,returned to nz late 2017.....brings a tear 😢 to my eyes seeing the roads I used to drive o the daily and my local pub ..the grand view in Cleveland .sooo good tysm 💓 ❤

I lived here from the ages of 15-22. The memories are so vivid I can literally taste each area as you're driving. For me Cleveland brought to mind the taste of paint thinners and paint as my first job out of school was with Cleveland Signs. The Alex hills pub i had a taste come to mind of the first and last time i ever drank UDL's and had the worst hangover I've ever had when I turned 18. Memories of my family who I rarely see anymore, we used to go to Sizzlers all the time in Cleveland. I worked at Pizza Hut as a delivery driver for a bunch of years in Cleveland and loved my job, it was so much fun, pay was terrible, total exploitation, but it was a valuable time to me anyway.. I got real good at handbreaking corners. Memories of one of the only relationships I ever had from school, seems impossible to meet anyone anymore now that I'm 35. And I was right into my Karate back then too with John Hamilton of Kempo Australia and then I went onto Shito-Ryu in Thornlands with Garry Edwards. SUCH A RICH period of my life. I can't emphasize enough to people in that age group of 15-20 just how fertile that period is, and how short too.. before you know it you're alone and all that goodness starts fading away despite all your best efforts to be a good person and keep healthy. Then what you're left with is the personification of a "responsible adult" meanwhile internally feeling like that same person you where at 15 internally.. still wanting love, still wanting family, community, fun, but it's no longer there as much as it once was. So cherish those moments when they come folks.
