- Recently given his own talk show, Bill Boggs interviews an old friend (Helen Reddy) about her personal life and her career. Later in the interview, Jeff Wald (Helen's then husband) joins them on the set (Part 2 of 2)
I'm so thankful that our world had Helen in it and for videos like this which help keep her alive. Thank you so much.
His cocaine addiction sunk the marriage. Very tragic. She really loved him. Helen was THE voice of th early seventies, and even though I have always been the ex act opposite of a feminist, which Helen represented, I appreciate Helen's voice and her wonderful songs from a very important era of my life. Rest in peace, good lady.
He was a Cocaine addict for some time. Went through a lot of her money. She didn't have much in her later years. Was renting an apartment. It's sad. Helen died in September. Had gotten Dementia and her daughter had said that since Covid she couldn't spend time with her mother and then Helen went down hill after not being able to see anyone. That has happened to many elderly because of covid. They need the talking and holding family. But covid has kept us apart. Many die alone. Families can't get in to see them and left heartbroken.
Helen lectured on shows and guest appearances at functions in Cali & Australia about her concern for an event coming to the world.. Covid was in the distant horizon.. She was also a very spiritual person who studied the metaphysical, past life regression and reincarnation for 50 yeas. Then Covid hit... she was a nurturing person who cared for others. It saddens me that the anguish of isolation from Covid contributed to her death. Helen made the world a better place and gave women a voice they lacked when it was needed the most. Her interviews give great insight into the mind of a fascinating woman who spoke about issues that applied to everyone, and was dubbed by Talk Host Robyn Walker as "Aussie's Oprah". RIP Helen, and thanks for the music & memories. You gave so generously because you cared about people unselfishly.
Helen is pure class. I can't see her with this guy at all.
From this very short interview you can tell that. Before she met him her career was not going anywhere. He truly helped her a lot as her manager. There was some connection for they both truly helped one another and were a team.
You have to remember the guy he became isn't the guy she first met. Not to make excuses for Jeff, he became such an excellent manager and was inducted in the Managers Hall of Fame. Keep in mind Jeff was a manager too many celebrities, Donna Summer, Slyvester Stallone (which Jeff has a cameo in Stallone's movie Paradise Alley) and there are more acts he managed, so the pressure of trying to keep everybody happy may have to a bit much.
@@cyndy45Agreed!
She adores him. l can remember all the glowing reports on this relationship in aussie magazines etc. Then was shocked to hear it had come to an end.
Jeff Wald seems very insecure . Helen seems like she was always trying to boost him up and appease him. Probably why he liked cocaine so much ,it made him feel things that he was lacking within himself. She was way too good for the likes of him. Rip Helen x
She made him and he bankrupt her. She loved and trusted him, so sad RIP Helen we will always love and remember you.
JEFF WALD (1944 . 2021)
HELEN REDDY (1941 - 2020)
I could care less about his drug addiction, Jeff Wald was a pretty good manager
Helen lost everything, because of his addiction
A "good" manager doesn't deliberately destroy and ruin a client's career. And that's exactly what Jeff did to Helen. Most of the 30 million dollars she made went up his nose and to pay his gambling debts. And he blacklisted her in show business. Nobody would hire her for anything out of fear of retribution from Jeff. The guy was certifiably insane. Fortunately, Helen was able to rebuild her career once he was out of her life for good and some time had passed. But it took many, many years, after she had worked so hard to build a successful career the first time.
He may have been a good manager, but every drug addicts behavior affects everyone around them. It's like a smoker who says "It's my body. I will smoke if I want to. What do you care?"....Well, all that second hand smoke affects everyone else......A drug addicts behavior, poor judgement & debt poison everything & everyone around them. Nothing ever good comes from being a drug addict.
It sounds like a broken record when they showed that song from Pete's Dragon.
He seems like he had a very fragile ego.
That filter is fake
