Thank you to everyone for sending in your amazing aliens, the response was absolutely astonishing. In this video are two of the main groups introduced in the first video (expect another 1-2 parts after this looking at the others). I apologise for not being able to include every design, but there are just so many that it would be impossible to do justice to each one unfortunately. But I hope you like what we've done so far :)
I think that project it's a good idea for a survival game like the isle.
Wheres walking with dinosaurs part 4? And a new late survived raptor in Mexico has been discovered
Ben G Thomas I found a new species don’t know what to call it but I made a Instagramchat with you to share this new discovery!
Ben G Thomas Definitely worth the wait! I’d love to see all the images and descriptions posted together in a wiki or something so we can appreciate them in greater detail
its here YES
to bad my idea for a fungus type thing that more or less covered the floor of the southeastern archipelago didnt make it in
yeah that was planed to live off of a combination of photosynthesis and scavenging off the dead animals that died on top of it.
I'm feeling like a parent attending their children end of the year school show ( my baby boy is at 33:31, blue glider).Thank you so much for this opportunity, it was really fun and the love you put into it is hearthwarming.
Beautiful boy
Man I love your entry! It's somewhat similar to my entry in terms of lifestyle (swimming and gliding), but they are completely unrelated. In case you're wondering, my entry is Dracosuchus.
your kid is beautiful!
@@Serpenfishil while watching the video I saw some creatures that would have worked well as a close relative to mine, if I had to do it again I would definitely try to work more with the community instead of doing it alone, I would have loved to think about the phylogeny of my boy
I can't find my boy did he get abducted by those crackheads or something?
Imagine making an ARK mod replacing all the animals with these. Or even better , a full game. Like subnautica but on land. Amazing work everyone truly amazing
What a cool idea
Another way this could be done is via minecraft mods. Especially recently, a few mob/dimension mods have had a focus on speculative evolution.
Ark 2 will be something similar
As long as Wildcard doesn't make it. It'll be full of lawsuits and half-baked glitchy garbage and then bam there'll be a DLC 2 months after release 😂
What would the sungazers replace
I never saw an Celestivitan, turn in to an Gomphiobian. Check mate Athesist.
I mean, it *is* intelligent design in this case
Godzilla has a stroke trying to read this
Lmfao.
but i saw how people took the dinglebob combined with shleem then its fleeb was rubbed to turn it into the regular old plumbus. your turn creationist
I never saw one just pop out of nowhere surrounded by divine light. Checkmate Creationists. I think we're left at a standoff here.
I was so sad because i couldn’t post my Alien in time, but i still loved this project and see everyone doing so many things, thx for Making Wallace ll !
Don't lose that alien! I predict this will be highly popular. You might get another chance to post it.😁
I also was going to participate,but i forgot :/
I wanted to develop legume-analogue creatures but just didn’t have the time to sit down and figure the specifics out.
I also had a creature
The lack of Spore creatures surprises me 😂
Penis monsters aren't realistic for most habitats
A fellow spore player!
*the abundance of modded spore creatures
It was so tempting
Look, spore creatures aren't specifically accurate to niches, so they wouldnt make it here
Damn I didn't realize how much actually went into this, I thought it was just like an art contest
I was on the discord and believe me, it was a constant stream of art, ideas an discussions about those. Multiple channels for submissions were opened and still all were constantly active.
joshu why are you allowed to live?
@Breloum nice pfp
Looks like fandom
I love how creative and unique everyone's creatures came out, they all look beautiful in there own ways. And one day I dearly believe that you will hear about a documentary being produced.
Wow my mole dude's in the thumbnail!! I feel honored, this was really fun 😊
36:21 imagine chilling out on a beach at night staring at the beautiful stars when a bat-leech suddenly swoops down from above and latches onto your jugular vein
I mean there is an animal on earth like that now lol. I think it's an eel, penis eel if I recall correctly (or not); brown-purpleish elongated, eel like animal. With a round mouth like that and similar teeths. Yeah fun animal :D
@@HueghMungus Like a lamprey?
Kind of bummed out that my dudes didn´t make it, Dorsostomata, but seeing this project be finally complete and turned into a video honestly made my day. Happy to hear that they are at least canon ! Woohoo !
Everyone did a wonderful job and I am excited to see more of this !
My entry didn't make it either
I can say the same for my Megalar-guy, and am quite salty about. I mean, the only mention of it wasn't even spoken, I just saw it's name floating around in the species tree and nothing else.
Yeah I’m a bit salty too. I obviously know how hard it is to include all entries, but some of these are just “T-Rex but with a trunk” or “Panther but with gills” and it’s such a shame, because so many more creative designs were left out
Yeah. Obviously there was a huge number of submissions so of course some got lost or couldn't be included, so I get it. But I'm still sad my animal didn't make it.
I made one but never submitted :(
My child made it i'm so proud of him 38:08
Good for you 😀
ummm thats MY child, excuse you?
@@ShopeeMarketteam No that's God's child. You dummy dum dum
XD
Pessoa Nominal You’re right.
I can’t wait to learn more about this amazing speculative evolution project!
Lol
Lol
yis
Neither can I.
Ben G Thomas: Look at this full ecosystem we created!
Intelligent designers: *salivates
As an intelligent designer, yeah pretty much.
Ah yes, the good side of internet. A bunch of passionate individuals forming a community to create what interests them and makes them happy. This is so epic, so many cool designs!
I've seen the all the alien creatures of the planet "Darwin IV".
Theses creatures are sooo cool I love the imagination of the people who created them
So glad this came out, something too make my day !
I can’t get over how high quality this channel is, in almost every aspect. The content is obviously always incredible, the editing is immaculate, but you even credit, onscreen, all the artists when showing any artwork or screenshots. Absolutely top tier, my dude. In my opinion, this is one of the best channels on RUclips and it’s what makes this platform so damn special (despite the pitfalls and downsides).
This looks awesome! its so diverse o.o but then again, there are a lot of very diverse animals on earth. thank you for the wonderful work!
37:48 *Bagpipe noises*
Woo o3o i'm in.
Someone, contact animators, we need an animated documentary of all the species’!
But for real, absolutely amazing! Sad I didn’t get mine in on time.
This is really cool to see come together, and I’m glad mine made it in (18:49). I had a great time participating and interacting with other participants on the Discord server. A really, truly interesting and thought-provoking project. Nice job, everyone.
I was hoping for this video for so long 😍😍😍
Also I love your News❤️
And your Bagpacking Vlog 😂😂😊😊
This was so very deeply satisfying - and deeply impressive! My basic pencil on paper drawing pales in comparison to the beautiful art exhibited here. And none of them are beautiful while sacrificing creative application of the guidance.
Excellent work everyone! I’m super excited to see Part 2!
(excited noises)
same!
More Noises intensefies
*excited noises intensefy*
7:04 So now I know where Houndeyes come from. Now I'm curious about the Bullsquid and Vortigaunt.
Vortigaunt from halflife?
RetardosaurusRex
Yes. From halflife lmao.
RetardosaurusRex they all are.
yeah I realized they were like houndeyes.
hot dam i never expected speculative evolution to get so deep and complex, this was a joy to watch and listen to
Me: mom i want avatar!
Mom: we have avatar at home
*Avatar at home*
Me: oh wow this is actually pretty good
Finally! I can't wait to see all the great designs by everyone. I hope mine made it in
I'm happy to see my creation at 15:03 made it in. It was a lot of fun participating in this community project.
Is the rear of the creature imitating its face to deterr attacks?
Yes, yes, YES!!!
It’s out for everyone to see
I’m so happy for everyone who worked on this project and for making such a wonderful first part of this series
Good lord a 40 minuteBen G vid? Cue Ice Cubes "Today was a good day"
Fabulous vid boys, well worth the wait!
16:00 16:10 These animations are awesome
22:19 22:45 These are so cute
13:27 Probably, my favourite
This has so much potential as a videogame. An open-world one, as realistic as possible (but it wouldn't be boring since every creature and the environment itself are new)
"Sun grazers and polyspeculates" i think you mean THE PLANT GANG!! (laughs in mountonion)
PLANT GANG
Plant Gang
I made a plant gang vid
This is so COOL! thank you all for being a part of this and throwing this together!
i'm so sad my entry could'nt make it. I had the design and description ready for a few days before the deadline hit, but i was occupied with other stuff and ended up not sending the entry at all. well, atleast i0m happy how this turned out.
I'm so mad i missed the whole thing, I really hope there will be more projects like this in the future
you can still join sagan 4 👌
i think Dapper Dinosaur is doing something similar. Just look up his channel.
It's finally here! I'm excited to see what got in!
Can't imagine the organization needed on whatever social network or website in order to coordinate so many people and their creations for this idea. Good stuff!
Me: Sees Wallace II on my notifications
Me: **Excited screaming**
I’ve enjoyed this channel for a while, and speculative evolution has been one of my favorite endeavors for forty years now. I hate that I didn’t find out about this until today. I would have loved to submit one or more organisms, but it looks like there was a strong surplus of submissions, and that makes me happy. Thank you to everyone who created such interesting creatures for this series, and thank you, Ben G Thomas, for providing such a wonderful platform for them to do so.
I love this! My only and one nitpick is the fact that some of the creatures don’t have composite eyes, but appear to have developed single lens eyes, like one in vertebrates, being that the common ancestor of all of this aliens possesses composite eyes, it’s kinda weird how some groups have lost it in favor of a completely different eye structure, beyond that, and sorry for being nitpicky, this is an awesome collaboration and a beautiful project, I’ll be waiting for part 2
Yeah doesn't really make that much sense now when you say it, by that logic there should be arthropods with cephalopod or vertebrate-like eyes but there isn't any. I still love this project though and looking forward for part 2 like you.
Happy noises
"Part 1"
(Happy Noises Intensify)
While this is all really really impressive and fascinating to watch, it's also a sad reminder to me that I failed to finish the things I had started making for Wallace II in time due to certain circumstances. I'll have to finish watching it some other time.
Looks absolutely rad tho! 👍👍👍
Oh man, this was awesome! This community has an incredible imagination. Looking forward to the next part(s)!
We need a new Stargate TV Series, but without the "battles" with monster aliens, and just discoveries of weird planets and their inhabitants.
So, Star Trek?
@@barahng no. Star Trek was fantasy bs too.
Even though it's was too hard to get everyone's alien, it was still amazing to recognize some from the discord
I know right
One to tell if any of the mass of super Earth's include any moons is it's density
+Osmosis Jones BenGThomas: *Careful... I am contagious!*
Quit watching RUclips and do something about that rona dude
I was really proud of mine, I’m sad it never made it in. But it’s still a good video (Can’t even remember the scientific name of mine, so I don’t even know if it’s canon)
Edit: Common name was Trap-Leg. Really wish I could see the google forum to see what I wrote about it, but I didn’t save a backup
Mine never made it in either, but I guess that's that..
Mine didn't make it either. That's a shame.
Watching these always make me feel smart
Usually I'm not into speculation videos but damn you gotta respect the effort that when into this.
This was so interesting! I could genuinely watch this over and over.
It's really cool to see the diversity of submission from all ages and talents.
Thanks for the video. It reminds me that documentary called "alien planet" (or something like that).
I liked that one. It was the documentery with the floating balloon drones right?
lemguin that’s the one
@@yellowlemonPenguin yeah the yellow and blue flying drone robots right?
Earth Terra yes
"Fantastic Planet" by Rene Laloux is also intriguing.
Bro imagine playing a DnD campaign exploring alien planets like this
Yeah that would be AMAZING
:D this was amazing, thanks so much for doing it and I can't wait the the next ep :D
I had a great time doing mine (17:43) and would honestly love to do it again :D
Thanks so much for all your work in the project and making the project as it was amazing :D
Fascinating! I love how you think deeply into the organisms you create. A great understanding of ecology and adaption. Brilliant video! :)
I wasn't expecting animations, and I love them!
It's amazing how many people put so much heart and effort into this speculative alien planet.
Also great project dude!!!
i would love to see Biblaridion and Artifexian work on this with everyone, and i have to admit if someone managed to get permission to make a game based on this world, holy shit the amount of amazing things that could be done.
I'm incredibly impressed with all of you and your efforts. Thanks for a little distraction during this stressful time.
*LOVE* me some speculative biology, the Expedition book was one of my favorites growing up. Would really like to see you do a video or two on that book or a particular creature like the Emperor Sea Strider. These clay models are adorable, if those Ambulospeculids were rendered differently they’d be Hallucigenia level horrifying. 5:25 is the start of a baffling and impressive sequence of art styles.
This is just amazing, I can't begin to imagine how this was coordinated and planned.
I really hope everyone creatures at least gets mentioned in the cladeogram, but still very awesome
I am so happy to see my entry got into this video (one of a couple closely related species I entered). 11:08 the Hamodactylus ^-^
Needs more bird inspired probes named after historical figures
I'm so hyped to see what you make of Isla Inferno. The team can't wait either! :D
very cool indeed
Can't wait for Gromit I its many cheese based life forms
I love how it goes from what looks like a drawing I made in grade 5 science class to what looks like an actual page from a highschool biology textbook!
Way to include those of us who are less artistic yet still have great imagination!! Really fun!
Thanks for the awesome content!
A whole 40 minute video on astrobiology and illustrations of speculative alien life!?
I'm home! 💎
I know theres a term called you cant rush art but it has been a while now
I may not have made it, but...I am in awe, This is absolutely Glorious how Many and how Detailed all of these creatures are, Congrats to everyone Here.
30:53 Brachiosidae, wow that sounds similar!
Well 8 minutes of this was more than I could endure
10:10 it looks like the flower is feeding on the fly instead
Awesome and amazing job everyone. The creatures were very well thought out and well drawn. Looking forward to more of this.
Literally no one:
Theories of alien animals: Tentacular bugs with beaks, claws and 400 eyes
Yea, it was kind of disappointing how many just looked like giant bugs and/or had tentacle mouths. I can't really complain about how many looked like fish since the basic structure of a fish/fish's fin is pretty likely due to convergent evolution but I can't think of an evolutionary benefit great enough for so many creatures to have tentacle mouths and exoskeletons are fairly rare in large creatures because, without significantly more oxygen than earth has (which wallace might have had but that wasn't made clear enough), species with exoskeleton's simply can't breath. Maybe the creatures with exoskeletons don't breathe like bugs do but that should have been explained if so and what evolutionary pressures led to these bizarre forms (bizarre forms are not bad at all in speculative biology but I feel like this project could have used a bit more... speculation). I definitely feel like a ton of time and effort went into all of these and feel like a total asshole for being so negative but there are a lot of similarities in unrelated creatures and seemingly little to justify the evolutionary changes that are present.
Oh dear, what an astonishing and fascinating project!
I want to emphasize my deep respect and congratulations to anyone involved - thanks for the time, energy and creativity you put into this amazing work of speculative exobiology!
So.. after watching this - which Pokemon could hypothetically be real? :D
Depends if you include their attacks or just their biological structure
@@kekkat5716 biostructure wd be enough haha. It wd be interesting!
Mr. Mime
@@TimoDcTheLikelyLad most pokemons cus most are animal based
Amazing video man! I can't wait for the next one, I love seeing all the speculative aliens and their designs, I'm so happy that a lot of talented people spent time to do this stuff because it is awesome.
Again, show those ecosystems to CIG, the studio producing Star Citizen, they are looking for scientifically accurate creatures to populate the many worlds of their game.
@Shasvin Puvanesvaran I can only see benefits for them. They pride themselves being in touch with their community inputs, and they already have included very specific talents, like a conlanger for their alien languages or an architect that reviews their spaceship designs. Going one step further with a collaborative biosphere would cement their reputation of being a community-driven studio.
@Shasvin Puvanesvaran Yes, but I think everybody would be on board for that, even if that just means to be credited in-game.
The biggest reason I originally subscribed was all the speculative evolution videos you guys did. Everything else is brilliant too, but this series is going to be so amazing!!! Watched the whole way through and it's just brilliant! Can't wait to see more!
hopefully this can become a series and we survey more planets
Don’t believe everything you see, I’m not discrediting this but they have no papers posted in the description that are peer reviewed, and peer reviewed means research posted at a collegiate level by a professional and then checked by other professionals. When the maker of this video cites a reliable source it is believable sure. But as of now it is just put speculation by some guy, it’s interesting but Unreliable in the fullest.
Oh my, this is so the video for me XD
Drawing and documenting life from a "Planet of my own" since some time and trying to make it look like documented science (you know, the thing that is just fun...) and I just love finding videos or drawings of people who do the same. It is a vast creative field!
Even though mine isn’t in there, it’s still excellent.
Same.
That was awesome! Can't wait for part 2!
When your creatures are Are in the video, but they are are only mentioned briefly :(. Atleast are the mighty flag flaps mentioned
Beautiful Creature you made!
Delightful video! I'm rather dazed by all the life forms. Looking forward to more...
I was gonna make something for this but then I forgot and then I remembered and still didn’t do it
My bois made it 11:49. This turned out amazing. I'd pay good money for a short animated series
Ok but what happened to wallace 1?
*WE DONT TALK ABOUT THE FIRST ONE*
The way you speak about this project make me feel like I missed the news of aliens being discovered
Look at planet we know is full Life like the Billy Ape the Giant Squid. And most recent do to eDNA . The lochness Giant Eel.
Even Kamodragons used to be crypteds .
And 19th century acedimics also the Dodo was mythical creature a better window into human phycholoy representing stupidity. Until a skeleton was dug up
English definitely isn't your first language
Not stupidity but the Dodo was worshiped ...
I really wish there was more of this type of content on youtube, luckily the videos out there are really good
when will part 2 come
Why aren't you a director? This is some of the most creative stuff I've seen on RUclips.
Well all the alien s were made by other people but yeah
"Epestrepseapotithalassa" at 24:20 is literally three greek words with no spaces between and they mean "it returned from the sea". That's a bit lazy as far as names go.
I love this kind of stuff, making a whole new planet and giving it new life.
