I boxed for a few years. Did practical street self defense and JKD for 7 years. But when two guys tried to stab me, the only thing i recalled was what ive trained under real pressure. No self defense(except for keeping my opponents in front of me, keeping sight of the situation, and walking backwards), no tricks, no lap sau pak sau, no holds, grabs, breaking arms or high kicks. All of that went out the window when i saw the guy pulling a knife, i slapped his hand, the knife flew away and i just started boxing. 5 punchens on his face and 20 feet from where i started hitting the guy was knocked down. I instantly turned around and focused on the other guy who hadnt even realized what happend as i charged him, i trew 4 good punches as hard i ever did before and send him to flying. A few seconds went by and they both got up and both grabbed a knife, their faces utterly smashed, but they didn't feel it as they were high on drugs. So. I thought fuk it and i turned around and started running. All that JKD and self defense training and in that tense and stressfull situation i remembered nothing of it. That's when i started training Systema. No drills. No techniques, no stances, attacks from every angle in every way with multiple opponents. Only principles. Breathing. Relaxing. Movement. But that's me. My point is that if you do not train something under stress and tension you wont recall it in a stressfull situation. The most important thing i have learned in 15 years of martial arts, is being able to Stay calm in any situation. Tension blocks the mind and body. If you are able to Stay relaxed and move with the attack of the opponent you nullify any impact and in that movement or flow you can break your opponent very easily. I tested it in a MMA gym. It worked. The exercises to train this are very simple and work very fast to reprogram your mind from tensing and resisting under stress to moving with the flow and using any and all movement from your opponent to your advantage with the least possible amount of force with the largest impact and result. Im teaching this now for 7 years. Id love to help others online sinds the pandemic is getting in the way of training physically.

Started with Judo went Tae Kwon Do as a teen with former PKA champ Neil Wilson Kenpo Shotokahn with Frank and Raymond Daniels MuayThai with Joe Russ as an adult and finally settled in JKD with Dale Olsen at the Kwoon in Palmdale Ca. Been teaching for 15 years now and you describe to a 't' what Bruce Lee describes as the physiological side of empty hand combat. When tense you don't breathe properly you can't move efficiently and basically have taken yourself out of the fight by depriving the brain and the muscles of oxygen. Also when tense the brain has to send signals to the muscles to relax before the second set of signals go to the muscles on either side of the joint to start your block or your strike. This takes time. You must learn to relax and act as if nothing stressful is occurring. When I was competing I always took off on the tense fighter because I knew I had him beat.... Step dad was a Judo brown belt and navy diver. Even as a kid he used to drag me to the bottom of the swimming pool and make me fight my way out. Under water staying calm was even more important. I think that alone gave me the edge in many confrontations. Being able to stay calm and yet still take advantage of the adrenaline is a rare ability. But yeah you nailed it... Regards 'SAAH'

Wing Chun would have problems with a much bigger guy....Especially if using trapping....Always stay DETACHED and if life is in danger go for DECISIVE targets....No place for rule restrictions in a dangerous environment like that.
Master Wong! Why have you not reached out to the producers of COBRA KIA so you can bring Wing Chun into the series? You would be excellent for the show and great comedy. It just can't be Tang So Karate vs Tang So all the time. Do it Sifu! You will be great. really? 70kg butterfly but cant get his arm in front? ok when its done fast and yu can crush his ribs befor he can react and get his arms in front then maby he wont have the breath anymore to do anything. but when he managed to grapling you cant compete with a strong arm where you can hang onto. (just even break his nose with your head)

An actual street fight
