@@stargazer0365 how does it not sound like shit??????? I've recorded my voice on any device multiple times and I always sound dumb--this is absolute talent
When I think of the lyrics 'Father can you do this?' and 'I never saw him cry', I think of one of two things for each First one is 'Father can you do this? Can you kill me?' Second, 'Father can you do this? Can you save me?' For the next line; 'I never saw him cry, until today.' and 'I never saw him cry, before I died.' They both just break my heart. But this song is so well made it also mends it WONDERFUL work man
I love this song so much!!! The lyrics are so well done, and capture Wilbur’s character as a whole really well. I love Ghostbur, but Wilbur was such a tragic character even when he was alive, which is what makes Ghostbur so effective as a character imo. I also really like how you differentiate between Ghostbur/Alivebur singing through pitch!! I loved how after seeing fireworks, they start singing together, as if Ghostbur is starting to remember more of who he used to be, until Ghostbur’s voice vanishes as he relives his death (and I love the line “I write down the things I choose to remember” and it’s placement there, because of the implication that despite his insistence, Ghostbur and Alivebur are really the same person-that Ghostbur is just the result of Alivebur repressing all negative memories in response to his trauma). It was really subtle but really effective. Also, the line “I never saw him cry” absolutely destroyed me. Excellent song, 10/10, it made me cry. :’]
Idk how to describe this vibe, but it is a bit unsettling in a good way. It just makes it special from the other Dream SMP songs. Not saying that the other SMP songs weren't great, but this is song has something that stands out from the others and I really enjoy that.
Why for me, the background/wilbur's colors changing means: First one was Ghostbur Second one was Vilbur, or Insane Wilbur Third one was just... normal Wilbur Soot. And then it changes back to Ghostbur. I don't know why its like that to me, I just felt that that's what each picture/background portrayed. All in all, the song is amazing and I wish that more people should see it, also the "Oh beans" at the end made me laugh lmao.
Yeah, i thought that also! Each verse in every part represents something that happened to Ghostbur/Vilbur/Alivebur. And at the end it's like it all comes back to him. I just love it so much
Okay, this whole song is _so_ good, but Alivebur's part is SO PERFECT! The way his voice falters at the ends of the lines "I can't look in his eyes. Father, can you do this...? I never saw him cry..." is just * *chef kiss* *. Absolute art!
The lyrics: I open up a book Put page to feather I write about the things I can remember Crinkling yellow pages Silent drifting leaves The flapping of a large flag Carried laughter in the breeze Phantom feelings of a good past Tingle in my skin I can feel a heartbeat Somewhere within Those two boys With lights in their eyes Thriving with youth Trying to prove That they can survive Even so, It doesn't take a man with horns To leave a past of strife and scorn In a nation built on desire The warmth of a fire Down beneath the earth The feeling of a home Up above the ground They learn to grow Looking towards a future Restoring a past The craters of our trials Prove that we can last Now I look at this family of mine A son I once had A father I'm glad Has somehow survived Brothers who Fight will never win the war Advice I should've taken more I'm told it wasn't meant to be Was that 'cause of me? Fireworks, they Burn so bright Celebrating Our new light Something in them Burns my head I resort to Write instead Fireworks, they Burn so bright We no longer Have to fight Something in them Burns my heart Please my son Can we restart? I open up a book Put page to feather I write about the things I choose to remember Phantom feeling at a doorway I can't look in his eyes Father, can you do this? I never saw him cry Will I miss this world? This is my final goodbye. My L'manberg (x8)
That part at the beginning where Ghostbur sings about things he can remember; when he talks about Tommy and himsel, the memory shifts over to Schlatt. He pauses, and then mentions a completely different memory (the warmth of a fire), as if the bad memory just immediately purged itself from his mind
could i possibly make an animatic with this song? it is just so good!! i will make sure to give u credit and let u know when i post it ^^ if not, thats ok :)
My little theory, is that since ghostbur only has good memories, when the colors change it could be the resemblance of all the repressed bad memories. When the colors change a 2nd time, its wilbur. Not ghostbur, not the "Representation", but like almost a combination of both :)

When Wilbur sings "My L'manberg" at the end of the song, you can imagine that those were his genuine last words. Only Phil knows of this, as he listened to his son say these nearly meaningless (to him) words; barely above a whisper.
This is still one of my favorite songs in this fandom. It's set apart from the other songs not by production or fancy music but by the great amount of emotion it's sung with. I love it
My sister thought this was a Cavetown song. That's saying something about the quality of this piece. I've been obsessively listening to this for the past few days
ok imagine this "will i miss this world? this is my final goodbye" the lines Wilbur sings as hes dying and then each "my L'manberg" is flashes of events in Wilbur's life that led up to his demise, such as the founding of L'manberg, the first war, the election and pogtopia
Honestly, so good. I adore this song. Probably one of my favorite songs I've heard this year. Just hits differently and I love it so much. Constantly suggesting this song to other people, I hope this gets more recognition because this song deserves it.
'I never saw him cry' that made me think of ghostbur talking about how he never got a grave, and then made me think about how phil didnt cry when he killed him, which made me think about how no one was super upset that he died or at least didnt seem that way when talking to wilbur

I write about the things
I can remember
Crinkling yellow pages
Silent drifting leaves

Carried laughter in the breeze
Phantom feelings of a good past
Tingle in my skin

Those two boys
With lights in their eyes
Thriving with youth
Trying to prove
That they can survive
Even so,
It doesn't take a man with horns
To leave a past of strife and scorn
In a nation built on desire
The warmth of a fire
Down beneath the earth
The feeling of a home
Up above the ground
They learn to grow
Looking towards a future
Restoring a past
The craters of our trials
Prove that we can last
Now I look at this family of mine
A son I once had
A father I'm glad
Has somehow survived
Brothers who
Fight will never win the war
Advice I should've taken more
I'm told it wasn't meant to be
Was that 'cause of me?
Fireworks, they
Burn so bright
Celebrating
Our new light
Something in them
Burns my head
I resort to
Write instead
Fireworks, they
Burn so bright
We no longer
Have to fight
Something in them
Burns my heart
Please my son
Can we restart?

i have listened to this song about 10 times and every time i'm on the verge of tears because of how well written this is
even after months this still goes so hard- and when i tell you i got chills i mean it, this is so good :o
Truely is an unfinished symphony, he never got to finish the final 'my lmanburg' in the song
THIS IS SO GOOD OMG IM SO PROUD
This is the best dream smp original song I’ve ever heard
