Who Are You Watching?
My name is Sara and I’m a mid-40 year old Gen X woman just doing her best. Some days, that best is better (or worse) than others. I love to read, bake muffins, and wander the aisles of my local Ulta store. I’m the founder and editor of The Pretty Intellectual, a lifestyle Substack newsletter and RUclips channel for Gen X women where we share everything from fashion and beauty to books and culture through a wry, over-40 perspective.
I live just outside Minneapolis, MN, with my husband, Dan, and our Shih Tzu, Gravy. I’ve been a fashion and beauty writer since 2007 and have worked with some truly delightful people at brands including Lane Bryant, City Chic, and Christopher and Banks. I’ve been featured in Redbook, The Knot, and Plus Model Magazine. And I spent seven really fun years creating and presenting beauty segments on KSTP-5 (ABC) ‘s daytime talk show, Twin Cities Live.
For reference, I have:
dry skin with a touch of rosacea; haven’t yet tried Botox, fillers or surgical enhancements
fine hair that is regularly colored and treated to all kinds of heat damage
paper-thin nails that peel and break
Looooooooove! All I would really, REALLY need is my lanolin lip balm.

Do you use the Moisture Surge Mask as a moisturizer or as a mask? Checking it out right now! I agree that we do have a lot in common, beauty product-wise and otherwise.

@ It’s just a really nice moisturiser! I thought it would be thick & heavy (like a mask!) but it absorbs super fast & just leaves the skin super hydrated for the morning. I love it! 🩷
@ There’s nothing like waking up feeling hydrated and plumped. That’s the ultimate goal! I’d love to be able to forgo some of the oils I usually rely on for that impact. Always appreciate your suggestions! ♥️
