- This 👆 channel is the second one I've made in the past few years. The first one... well, it didn't grow quite as big. 😅 I'm glad I started both of them, though! The first one taught me a lot (and helped this one become as successful as it has), and this one has completely changed my life.
If you don't already have a channel of your own, I'd HIGHLY recommend starting one. But I know it can be tough to get something like that off the ground. How do you even start?? What should your channel be about? Do you need an expensive camera... or can you just shoot on your phone? There are so many questions to answer.
In today's video I'm sharing exactly how I got started -- and started GROWING my channel. I hope my story inspires you and helps you figure out how to overcome anything that might be getting in the way of starting your own channel.

Gillian, thank you for sharing your experience with us. I have decided to finally start my own RUclips channel.
I debated about it for a while, I watched some of your videos and was curious about it. Though to be honest, it didn't really hit me until a few people that I am friends with were reluctant to ask for advice on a home project that they were doing. When we finally got down to the reason why, it was because they had no idea what tools they needed, what they were called, or where to turn. That was the final piece of catalyst that was needed for me to start my channel.
I plan on hosting weekly videos (may upload two or three the first week) on projects that I have done or am currently doing around my house. The tools that I would recommend to use and how I use them to get the results that I do. Plus other videos that explain which tool(s) are which, how to use them, what one should have for basic home repair or vehicle maintenance etc...
Thank you for being part of the inspiration that helped me to take the step and create my own channel. Hope it helps others and who knows, maybe i'll make a little money on the side.
I initially started a channel purely because I love filming and editing...
and then somehow it became something I actually love researching for, planning videos video, having a strategy and so on... a reverse process I guess. But now so love where the channel is going

Haven’t established a strategy yet. But I post 2x a week, have branded my channel so hopefully soon the work will pay off. I’m going to give myself a 10 video grace period, then develop my strategy more

I'd watch the braid video at least from that old channel, you looked quite engaging there :).
I was the exact same as you, started off with beauty etc but then pivoted a few times until I’m now finally doing business. I didn’t know if I should start a new channel or not but decided to just stick with it since I was already monetised.
My greatest mistake was not starting.. I am not big but I started...my content is improving and my message is being heard...Now getting 50 views/day and about 5 subscribers/day....I had excuses like I don't have a camera but nevertheless I started with a $30 smartphone & its happening..

Hi Gillian! I'm in the process of rebranding my own channel, and I noticed that you refer to this as your "second channel" but when you showed your hair braiding video that went viral on your old channel, it looks like it's actually on this same channel. So did you actually just private all of your old videos and start fresh on the same channel? If so, is that something you would recommend, or do you think it's better to start completely fresh on a brand new channel? Thank you! xx

Thank you, but which method for 2 YT channels is BETTER? - I have a RUclips channel, not monetized, will never be (music covers), under my email1 and my only phone#. I want to make another one, travel oriented, that I'd like to make monetized. For creating this new channel, do I generate a new email address (is gmail recommended?) Can I use the same phone# that I have? I don't want to jeopardize my existing singing channel in any way. Also, if I use my existing google account to create another youtube channel "under" the existing one, it is then called "branded" and this is confusing. Thank you
