  • The coastal line of the Athens tram running from Piraeus to Voula is one of the most beautiful seaside rail lines I've seen. Most parts of the track are covered with beautiful greenery (green track) and there are lots of shrubs and plants along the line that make the commuting experience even more relaxing and enjoyable! And with the new Alston Citadis X05 this is even better!

Nice catch! I haven't even noticed that! My guess is that it's going to the depot since Agios Alexandros is the stop just before the track branches to the depot line, and having this be just behind another tram, it makes sense to be that. It's just taking passengers up until that stop I guess. Now about using the number 3 I have no idea, maybe they haven't changed it for when they are going to the depot and kept the old system in.

@@AllThingsTrainsbyDrTesla yeah also it doesn't make sense to have lines 6 and 7. Where did lines 1-5 go? lol

@@kimjongun1847 it's kind of stupid indeed, but i think the idea is that they cannot use the same old number for a "new" line for some years after the old line has stopped operation. This is done on the buses lines numbers too, it's why so many numbers are skipped there too, to not confuse people that were used to the old numbers. For the buses it makes a bit of sense but for tram lines, it's bad I think and makes things more complicated.

@@AllThingsTrainsbyDrTesla Yeah, I think trams should follow an Alphabet system like Line A, Line B, Line Γ, Line Δ, and etc

@@kimjongun1847 Greek alphabet letters will be hard for the tourists, which the tram serves a lot. Numbers are fine as long as they don't change all the time and are consistent with the actual number of lines, in this case just 1 and 2, not 6 or 7.

in my opinion a coastal suburban railway would have been better, as the tram takes too long and there are bus routes as a local alternative
