I like them both. I noticed that the clean sounds were very different from one another. However, the distorted sounds had much less noticeable differences. They weren't necessarily "identical" but they were so similar that in a blind test people would probably 50/50 guess which was which.
Probably because they both essentially have humbuckers in them. That Tele doesn't have single coil pickups in it. He should have done the sound comparison with a Tele that has actual single coils in it. I had an Utra Strat when they first came out and I got rid of it because it didn't have the typical Strat tone due to the darker sounding Ultra Noiseless pickups.

with eyes closed. clean tele. distorted I loved both equally... i wouldn't care or recognize without listening closely. casually I cannot hear it, only when I listen in on this sample. typically much more clear
I love the warmth of a LP, I've been a Strat guy for 3 years then changed to LP last July. the thing I miss on single coils is its twangy sound on cleans, that's why I installed a coil splitter on my LP, not accurately sounding like a real Singles but good enough for me.
Difference between the distorted sounds are negligible in my opinion. However when it comes to clean the Fender wins. That’s why I play a Strat. I can approximate any humbucker tone with it, but humbuckers don’t sound like single coils. Or at least I don’t know how to do it.
@@mr.brutus1369 Fender noiseless pickups are humbuckers but the coils are on top of each other and not side by side. Thus this video doesn't make a good comparison since they're not true single coils and that's why they both sound the same with overdrive. The difference you can hear on the clean channel is due to the difference in how the guitars are built. Fender guitars have a longer neck which means the strings are under more tension, which is where the "twang" we hear in the Tele and Strat come from. Single coils contribute to this a lot of course but even stratocasters with traditional humbuckers are twangy to me
I liked the contrast between the 2 guitars. If I was recording that track in the studio, I would def play two diff guitars like you just did, one guitar on trck1 and the other on tel 2. Very nice sound.
It’s most definitely been done before for like album covers and band art but the crossed guitars like that tickled something in my brain that shi looks cool asf
I'm curious! What kind of "twangy" Metal, are you playing? I've only ever seen a very few playing Metal on a Tele-style guitar. Qnd never on a standard, with the single-coils. I could imagine it in some classic Metal or Hair-Metal, but I've just never seen it! Going into the heavier Metal genres, humbuckers are almost exclusively used.
A big difference is the pickups. Single coils have more feedback, leading to the crisp and punchy tone you got with the fender, while the humbuckers on the Les paul reduce the feedback and put emphasis on every note. Leading the distortion to sound cleaner, yet more robust. Neck design, the curvature of the fret board, the shape and size can affect how you play. Its all about what you like, not what everyone tells you to like.
That’s one thing i love about guitars, they each have their own tone, style, and everybody who plays one puts their own personality into the instrument, the instrument is the same but the sounds are so distinct
@@charlesnesbitt985 those pickups in the Tele are Fender's Ultra Noiseless pickups with are stacked humbuckers. They're designed to fit into single coil routes and maintain the look of normal single coils while removing the hum.

Gibson has that vintage hunbucker warmth, but all of the fenders that use a single coil, like a tele or strat have that glassy clean tone wich sounds really funky on the 2th and 4th position
