  • Pargali Ibrahim Pasha was one of the most influential and controversial figures in Ottoman history. He was a Greek Christian who was captured as a child and converted to Islam. He rose through the ranks of the Ottoman bureaucracy and became the Grand Vizier, the highest-ranking official in the empire. He was involved in many military campaigns, diplomatic missions, and administrative reforms. He was known for his pro-Western policies and his patronage of arts and sciences. However, he also made many enemies among the Ottoman nobility and clergy, who resented his power and influence. His plans for sultan's succession attracted Hurrem Sultan's rage, and Suleiman ordered his execution in 1536. His death marked the end of an era in Ottoman history, as Suleiman became more isolated and paranoid.

    As a British lady who was educated in schools here, we were taught absolutely nothing about the Ottoman Empire in my day. I became interested in Suleiman's era in my late 60's a few years ago and I'm fascinated by his reign and the life of others that served him in this period. Apart from having his best friend Pargali Ibrahim murdered and also his own son Mustafa along with various others who he illiminated because of loyalty only to him is henious. Saying that however, he did have magnificent mosques and other beautiful structures built. He brought culture through the arts with only the best artisans encouraged to teach others through his schools. I appreciate your knowledge and reseach in your work making these videos. Thank you so much, very interesting.

      historians are divided on what her role was: according to some, she was a high-ranking lady in the administration of the harem, according to others she was one of the consort of Süleyman and mother of Şehzade Murad (and/or Raziye Sultan), and who, after death of her son, became a lady-in-waiting and hostess of the harem by virtue of her qualities and closeness to the sultan, instead of being exiled to the province as tradition.

    I think that Ibrahim he did really marry sultan sister as he was known as Damat ibrahim as Damat called to men whoo married sultan sister or daughter

    • @Sir-Bacon
      @Sir-Bacon  11 месяцев назад +3

      Yes, you are right. Damat literally means The Groom in Turkish. There is no recording of who Ibrahim's bride was. Early historians assumed she could be Suleiman's sister due to the richness of the wedding ceremony and the attendance list including the sultan. This was widely accepted for a long time and the Damat Ibrahim Pasha name used. Very lately, studies on this subject, especially by historian Ebru Turan (University of Chicago, PhD) including the discovery of multiple references to Muhsine in Venetian and Ottoman texts as well as a signed letter from her to Ibrahim, shows that Ibrahim's wife was Muhsine and not Hatice. I found this new info credible and decided to use it in the video.

    • @Sir-Bacon
      @Sir-Bacon  10 месяцев назад +3

      Hay diferentes teorías: Ibrahim empezó a actuar como sultán y Suleiman no podía permitir que eso sucediera. O Hurrem no quería que Ibrahim apoyara a Mustafa para convertirse en el próximo sultán.

      She did manipulate him. Look at history: She became his legal wife, had more than one son, never left the palace. He changed so many traditions for her. Her fear would be a very strong motivator. There were many writings from Suleiman that reflected his regret for killing Pargoli Ibrahim Pasha. She manipulated him by making him paranoid. Hence the killing of Mustafa as well. She wasn’t stupid at all. Smiling on the surface all the while.

      He was the lover of Suleiman they had physical relationship which ended when Hurrem came and this became the reason of the jealousy of Ibrahim to Hurrem and the war started

    • @michaelochido3244
      @michaelochido3244 6 месяцев назад +3

      @@Sabakhan98234 I have read a lot of Ottoman history including.... Osman's dream......the relationship between the sultan and Ibrahiim was too close...not that of a master and slave..one theory posits that the sultan realized ibrahim had an affair with another man hence his raging jealousy. ibrahim was never a threat nor a rival for power as he was still Suleimans slave..So his execution may have been a "crime of passion "by the Sultan and of course due to Hurrems jealousy!. Of course most Turkish historians want to paint a pretty picture ...not the dark cruel side of the Ottoman Empire
