My oven had the "not bent enough" problem that you mentioned, but I found your video before any others. Your disassembly instructions were exactly what I needed to get into the oven to diagnose my problem. The hardest part of the whole process was putting the cover back on and getting the gasket and all the retainer tabs to line up at the same time. Thanks for posting this!

My toaster had the same problem. Breville wanted over $150 to ship it to them for repairs. Your video showed me how to fix it myself in under 30 minutes, with most of the time spent on getting the cover off and back on. Thank you!

I actually don't have the problem that you do. The spring for my oven's door just broke, and I can see from what you presented in your video that it will be a very easy fix. Thanks so much, and don't apologize for your kids, they sound adorable.

Mine is working nicely now, I had to bend the switch arm down. It was hard to bend, but now it works like it should.
    Thanks.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I've been trying to fix this damn door gap for two years now and I couldn't find any good tutorials for it until your video came along. I was actually bending the pin too low instead of higher. thank you so much!

The door to our Breville would not fully close. It came to a hard stop 2 inches from closing. I watched you video, but the closure arm seemed properly aligned. I turned the oven onto its left side and gave it a shake. It sounded like the sensor plate fell back into place. The door now closes perfectly.

This looks like a good fix IF I can get the cover off. I have taken out all of the screws, but it still feels like something is holding it near the feet. Help appreciated. Thanks, ann

The cover needs to be pulled towards you when you're facing the back of the oven,. Make sure all the six Philips screws are removed from the bottom three on each side when you have the oven upside down. Then turn the oven back on its feet and the screws will fall. The second step is to remove the four Star screws, two on each side. And the last group of screws are the one on the back, only the ones on the edge. Once those three groups of screws are removed, and while facing the back of the oven, you need to slide the cover towards you so you can release the hidden tabs of the cover. The only thing I can think of that may prevent the cover from sliding is the bottom screws, if one of them is not completely taken away from the oven it's going to stay there and the hole in block the cover from sliding, that's my guess.

@@PickyOne I could not get the last screw out. I tried every method suggested for a ruined screw. Nothing seemed to work. I then tried drilling it out again. did not seem to work. Then I ran a small tool around the other side then the back then up until I Hit the screw. I just hit is a few times because I was so frusstrated and apparently not strong enough to use the screw remover tool I bought at the hardware AND it snapped apart. Took a while to get it off. Too tired to fiddle with it tonight. Just watched your video again so I can try your fix tomorrow. Thanks, ann

Thanks so much for the video. The last screw in the 'foot' finally fell out when it accidentally landed too hard on the counter top. If I had removed the screws in the feet first, I do not think I would have had any problem. Having all the other screws out put a strain on these last one which are impossible to see anyway. SUCCESS with fixing the door. I was worried I would not have the strength to re-bend the 'landing plate'. Shocked at how thin and flimsy it is. I put a couple of crimps in it to give it a little more strength because when I just bent it back, it bent again when I shut the door. Very disappointed in the thinness of the materials in the Breville. Funny thing is that I bought this particular model because I thought I would use the air-fry feature. Rarely use it because it is soo messy. Already have my casserole ready to go for lunch. I'm now wondering IF I can just replace my 30" oven with a smaller convection oven. Not trusting the Breville to last much longer given the cheap components.

I'm happy you fixed it. Yes, you should've started with the bottom screws. My oven still in use (or abuse) by a family of five for all three meals and all snacks. My three children don't like any thing microwaved or any fast food, Breville came and solved the situation. We used the have the middle size Breville, but I accidentally broke one the heating elements, I found it a chance to upgrade, and for the outcome we got from the broken one, I didn't mind paying for the top of the line. Not really into air frying, I just wanted the best.

Squeaking toaster oven door: When the door of a toaster oven has no lubricant on its hinges, it usually speaks. You have to lubricate the door hinges with a non-flammable silicone spray. I read that:
To apply this solution, you will have to disassemble the door from the hinges that are located on the bottom front side.
Well that may not be true. Find a lubricant that has a high heat range and apply a light coating on the door arm. I did not need to disassemble the smart oven to lubricate the door arm. This solved my problem.

I can see the issue in your video, it is not the switch. It's that little white wheel that the door guide runs on. Same as my oven, it has a groove worn in is no longer rolling. That makes the metal guide drop down and it then hits the switch so the door won't close. I can see that the wheel is off-center. If you unscrew it, the back snaps off and you can pull it out/inspect. I just got a quote from @Breville - they want me to ship them the oven and pay $159 to fix it! For a $450 oven! I'm going to try to rig up something out of a stack of washers to replace it. Really a poor design for what is a very nice oven.

This video was shot almost a year ago and the door still holding up. The wheel was rolling smoothly, but wheel failure is coming sooner or later. Thanks for the info. The oven exceeded $450 now, but we really got our money back. This oven still saving the family time and energy, a family of five for all meals and snacks. Our big oven is not in use and we don't use the microwave anymore. Thanks again for passing by.

Mine was so bent it wouldn’t slide over the switch, it just hit it. All fixed and used a little lithium grease to maybe help it slide a little easier.

Mine is still under extreme abuse by 3 three kids and their parents, so it's self greased🙂. I thought of using automotive grease but I was afraid of 🔥 or chemical vapors.

Thanks for your video! I was able to fix the mechanism but I wasn’t able to slide the cover off. It was stuck to the oven at the front and sides. I had to almost peel it off at the front. It still wouldn’t slide off toward the back. When I try to put the cover back on there are big gaps at both sides. I think I ruined it for good but not sure. Anyone else have this problem? 😢

As far as the door slides shut , the cover does not affect the functionality of the oven. The cover only protects the slider on the left side and other components on the right.
Yes, sliding the cover is more harder in heavily used ovens since oil vapors turns into glue. Also you need to make sure you removed all the screws required for this job, 3+3 at the bottom, 2+2 on both sides, and a ton of tiny screw at the back. I assume you bent the sliding tabs/tongues that slides behind the front sides of the oven, in this case you may need extra hands to fit them in while pushing the cover back in place. good luck
