    I've just installed our blinds, but they're moving lot in the brackets. There's large amount of clearance and the blind slides about when you raise of lower them.

    We have inherited these with the flat we bought and they are not fitted properly. Trying to fit them it's obvious why: the wall just can't be drilled into. A couple of cm and the bit runs hot. Hammer setting no difference. We have red bricks covered in plaster and presumably metal lintels made out of titanium... 😜 Any advice?!

    How do I get the middle bracket installed when there's a steel lintel above the window frame? Tried 2 and 3mm cobalt drill bits and an electric power drill bit still can't get through it

      Pull the right side cord to the left slightly then it allows them to fall as you let go of the cord. Pull cord to right to stop them.

    It looks like you are drilling into wood which is not necessary as you can put a screw straight into it.

  • @lionatheart5902

    Perhaps use white wall plugs not red for the clear cleats for a better finishing appearance.

    I am finding it impossible to drill the holes as long as the screws, I'm not sure if this is because there is something hard (e.g. a lintel) at a certain depth. I can get about 1 inch in. I am not drilling into wood, i am drilling into concrete. What else can I do? if I purchase different screws and plugs will this depth of hole be sufficient to hold the weight of the blinds? I have purchased 4 blinds from blinds direct and all of them need to go into concrete alcoves. thanks.

    • @jasvir17
      @jasvir17 4 года назад +7

      If you use a masonry drill bit with a power drill, you will be able to drill the hole of the depth you require. I had the same challenge with a couple of windows and it was because of a concrete lintel which was like trying to drill into granite.
      Response is a couple of months too late but maybe it will help the next person who comes along. I hope your blinds are up by now :)

      I actually drilled into the side of the wall rather than upwards into the lintel, seems to have worked just fine!

    • @HandymanStratforduponAvon
      @HandymanStratforduponAvon 3 года назад +2

      @@jasvir17 You may find that there is a steel lintel above the window which a masonry drill will not go through. You need a 3.5mm HSS drill and a 4mm screw. Hard work but works really well.

    • @CrArC
      @CrArC Год назад

      @@y2kcurran This is my plan, gonna try sideways for these since their brackets allow for it. There's some kind of steel plate behind the plasterboard above, won't pierce even with a hammer drill and I had to use shorter screws for other BD blinds which were top fitted.

    Sorry but pelmet fitting for recess not clear. How can you get the clips over once the headrail is in place? Impossible

    • @alexdavidlion
      @alexdavidlion 3 года назад

      Edit. Do the clips go on the headrail before it's put it the brackets. Then the pelmet piece clips on (the clips need a but of poke/squeeze to get them in the slot).
      This clip design is new as the blinds I've had from BD was the way shown in the video.

      @@alexdavidlion I always put the clips on first and then put the pelmet into clips

    • @gezwaters
      @gezwaters 11 месяцев назад +1

      I had trouble with this too. But as you mentioned, put the clips on the main unit first, not the pelmet. Then once the whole unit is in place, with the hinge doors closed, insert the top part of the clip into the pelmet groove and then push up the bottom part of the clip with a screwdriver until it clicks in place. It would have been useful if they could have shown that in the video.

    Please avoid them. Poor customer service.
    We have purchased 8 wooden blinds and followed their website guidance for the measurements, and two of the blind sizes were wrong and we can not fit them at all! We called customer service and they said they cannot do anything about it and cannot resize them or return them! They only offered to get more money and asked to order extra new ones!
    Also, paid for the aluminum handles and a couple of them came with the basic plastic ones!
    There is no return/refund policy!
    Avoid them!
