Homelander never bothered to look in that notebook did he? She left it for him only to pick it up again untouched. He’s too wrapped up in his own trauma to even notice the notebook lying around. Sage is taking full advantage of being ignored and overlooked. Winning!

Homelanders the sword sage is the shield and firecracker is the nursing bottle, the deep in black noir are just epic rarity cronies (the three don't have a reason to take a chance at the University for a higher rarity)
Nothing is stopping the shield from going all Soldier boy but we know how that ends
Nothing is stopping the sword from killing all in its wake, but if it keeps that up it'll lose its purpose
And without the nursing bottle, the sword would stop giving shits

One of my favourite scenes this season. Homelander is literally crying on the floor, being at his lowest point and here comes Sage, saving his ass. When she came back to him, I think it was his first time experiencing true unconditional loyalty and empathy. Someone came back to him. You could see how shocked he was. Sage completely won him over in this moment and he won’t forget that. She’s now the closest he has to a friend and maybe even more than that, knowing his relationship with women. It's interesting how Sage and Firecracker give Homelander two different things he desperately wants from female characters, and while FC thinks she gave him what he wanted with the breast milk, it's nothing compared to what Sage did here, coming back for HL after he rejected her, because it's what HL always really wanted deep down from a maternal figure: unconditional love. Obviously Sage isn't really giving him unconditional love but to HL's stunted desperate pov that's what he'll see, somebody who doesn't appear to be using him (that was Stormfront's mistake, making it clear to him she just wanted him to realize her Nazi dream), who came back for him after he threw a tantrum, who fixed all his mistakes and promises to always be there for him no matter what. Her reasons for aiding Homelander comes from a need for a challenge (being one of the smartest people in the planet, she'd need stimulation), and a resentment towards humanity (she came up with a cure for cancer, but was dismissed while her grandma died; along with Vought's treatment over their "products").
      Phase 1:
      1. Tip the aggression between the Homelander and Starlight fans to their favor.
▪︎Frame Starlight's supporters for murdering Todd and his friends (initially a success ala a riot; foiled because A-Train provided the evidence that proves the latters' innocence)
▪︎Integrate Firecracker as part of the Seven due to her history with Starlight from their pageant days (a success because it kept Annie distracted)
      2. The Presidential Campaign
▪︎"Motivate" Neuman to take a more pro-active stance that would help Vought International take the lead (success...but only because she was intimidated and stressed out)
▪︎Have Neuman become president (failed without Sage's direct supervision, along with Neuman's own ambitions and tethers being a possible obstacle that led to her death)
▪︎Homelander being granted the position to take control (a backup plan should Neuman falter; a success)
      3. Dealing with "The Seven"
▪︎The Deep ("planted a seed" that enabled Kevin to become a threat)
▪︎Noir 2.0 (inapplicable, but the lobotomy is no different from her time with Kevin)
▪︎Firecracker (undeniably hired due to her history with Starlight; one of the few elements that ended up backfiring against her in light of A-Train being revealed as the traitor)

That makes her the most diabolical character of all and I think one day, Homelander will come to regret visiting her the first time for "advice." The world will wish that he should have left her alone "reeking of Taco Bell and loneliness instead of putting some of her theories into practice on a global scale!" Those moments throughout the series where Antony's performance shows you that deep down Homelander just wants someone who actually cares about him that he can trust, the one thing he was denied his whole life. Almost being in tears by the simple gesture of Sage still helping him after turning on her, realizing she still stood by him despite his faults, instead of just turning on him or trying to get back at him for it.
Even acknowledging and calling him out on his shortcomings/mistakes, letting him know she's still gonna be there for him despite them, and making her seem like someone he can actually trust by giving him unconditional friendship for the first time.
It's ultimately for her own ulterior motives, but I don't think he realizes that just yet. She knows that deep down he wants real companionship and is using that to gain his full trust to blindside him.
His reaction of "why would you do this?" as if he can't even comprehend the idea of someone not just doing something for him simply because they're either afraid of him, want something from him, or are trying to appease him.
Makes you realize how sad it is he was raised the way he was, and the missed opportunity of the great superhero he could have actually become if he'd experienced love and happiness growing up.

Sister Sage was the surprise for me this season, I didn’t like her at all at first but by the end of the season she became such an interesting and fun villain to watch. She is probably the most dangerous person on the show at this point next to Homelander.
Edit: The actress is so good too, the subtle way she is concealing her excitement over the plan going exactly how she wanted is perfect. You can tell she has never been this excited to cause chaos before.
