I (and another local player in Katanning Western Australia) both had the YC20. We both used 122 Leslies, and wow, what a difference - very Hammond sounding. That cabinet was the difference. That was back in the 70's.
Speaking from experience, it sounds LOVELY through a rotary (there's some videos on my channel). You can get a lovely faux-Hammond tone and much more :)
Very nice! This is such a nice reminiscence to the old days, struggling to learn how to play the organ. Great idea to ask such a talented musician for such a great musical performance. Thank you, Yamaha!
really in my eyes Yamaha made the best transistor organ if u have a Leslie or the Yamaha Rotary speaker u can get a convincing Hammond organ sound . Just wonderful! And funky !
This is the only thing that didn’t make me buy this keyboard already (I have the CP88, but I’m not such a big fan of its organ samples, and the reface YC - which I also own - actually has the vintage YC sounds.
The reverb sounds nice. Is it built in or something you added? I worked for a major league baseball team and the organist insisted on old Yamaha home organs from the 70's - 80's. Her tone was clear, punchy, energtic and reminiscent of what we have here. Easy to hear above the sound of 40K people in the ballpark. And didn't sound like church or roller rink. Getting hard to find parts and qualified service / repair people these days but often they are given away for free if you will move it out.
Absolutely, the YC 45D is also a great Instrument with many more features like 2 programmable Presets (similar to the CS 80 Presets) bigger keyboards and a touchbar with effects like Trombone slides and space sounds. The rotary speakers are the RA- Series. I own a RA 70 and sounds galactic, very different from a Leslie, more like a super-Space 3D- Chorus.
Have to laugh at the comment about the violin fooling people. Technology today has made it so that the new keyboard violins could actually make heads turn.

I had the YC45D model (with the portamento ribbon) earlier this year.
Stunning instrument.
Best vintage YC demo out there. I’ve always wondered what these would sound like through a rotary speaker. Really loved this video!!

What an incredible demo! I loved how much fun he was having, and I had no idea this organ sounded so good. Thank you!

Now I know who the father of my reface YC is 😉
and the VL-1 and VP-1 synths in the background - - nice.....
Even a primitive intrument sounds beautiful when well played.
Great, completely different from hammond, lowrey and Farfisa. I love the sound.
That was amazing
Would be nice to have some of the classic YC sounds as organ engines for the new YC stage keyboard!

No reverb built in on the YC series, but it sounds great even with just a guitar amp spring reverb :)
Pulled out some styles
Is the foot pedal original and where does this plug into an amplifier, is it mono or stereo?
did you use external reverb ? I am owner of this organ.
Can you teach te chords that you play at the organ? Thanks. Popayán Colombia
Did the opening demo have a name??🙏
How would you call the musical genre of the intro ? I'd love to learn play this kind of stuff
Hej, I would call it Bossa Nova....
@@lutzhammond5674 thanks! I will listen some standards then
Which “family saloon” did I win?
Now, through a Leslie!

Wasn’t there a YC45D and a Yamaha rotary speaker?
