This performance was my first introduction to Katrina, some 3yrs back now, and as much it blew my socks off then, she's absolutely unrecognizable from in her skill, and tone since this performance.
If you really have time check out her Whitney Houston Medley at the Metrowalk, or her mind blowing performance of "Somewhere over the rainbow" also at the Metrowalk.

I hope you explore her works more, this performance is a few years old already. Since then, her tone has changed a little, and her lower notes have improved. Compared to before, she's now less inclined to add flourishes but still always shows power, which is becoming her signature. Her lung power is unmatched in the Philippines.
Loved your reaction and analysis. Hope to hear more of your reactions to her. Watching her all these years I’ve experienced her work on her craft and I believe in the years expanded her range and improved her timbre. Her storytelling also has evolved. This opinion of course comes from a layman.

This was the first video I believe which made her trending and known internationally to vocal coaches & enthusiasts. Another terrific analysis. Your assessments always add a much richer appreciation of the singers that you react to. If you really are inviting suggestions for future reactions, I have a couple on my wish list that I hope you might consider reacting to. First, I would really enjoy a reaction to the song, "Zombie", by the Irish rock band, The Cranberries. Their singer, the late Delores O'Riordan, had a very unusual yodeling, hiccuping type of vocal delivery, and it would be fascinating to see what you make of it. There are live versions, but I would strongly recommend a reaction to the official music video of "Zombie", because that video is something quite special. "Zombie" is song about religious strife in Northern Ireland, and music video is one of the most moving and effective that I have ever seen. Additionally, I hope you will consider reacting to the live version of the song, "She's Gone", by the American rock band, Steelheart. Steelheart have a remarkable vocalist in Mike Matijevic. When most male hard rock vocalists go to the top of their range, it often sounds to me like they are shouting or shrieking. But Mike can go up into soprano territory with male Rock God power, and he is actually singing way up there, and not just shouting. It would be interesting to get your assessment of him.

This was one of the two best performances, ever, on the WISH 107.5 Bus (the other one was Akin Ka Na Lang by Morissette Amon. Katrina Velarde is a vocal beast and not only that, she is a superb songstress and technical master singer. She should be an international superstar, household name. FTR, I am a retired professional music critic with 45+ years experience. I saw Whitney, Celine, Mariah, etc., live, in their Apex elite prime and Katrina is more than a match for all of them.

Wow awesome,while on her belting I'm my diaphragm as well.I feel there's a nerve working on legs travels going through my heart...On my opinion no other singers could duplicate the original version...but for Katrina she has her own style,the overall criteria of her song was defined by her emotions and harmony to the most of her greatest love of her talent.I know it is easy to react but hard to master a song with too many technicalities to consider.Her version was totally phenomenal and not easy to learn especially like a beginners on music industry.She has her own passion and that what makes her absolutely fantastic and named nowadays as one of greatest Filipino multi song artist.Thanks for your reaction video as well as your vocal technique strategies that may resource to aspiring singers around the world.In Philippines,every places have different accents and too many dialects too when it comes to pronunciation that may matter to the tone in singing-F.Y.I.sometimes it reassembles us for where we are from etheir living in a city, countrysides or in a islands.The country in which anywhere from north to south you can find great high performance self taught singers especially the Bisaya fellows.In our country,Singing is not only by professionalism like other countries do,learning to go musical schools but however in the first point of view,most of us singing is more fun or on contrary releasing someone's emotions and when mastered don't even realized that it could make popular and inspire others influence.

Maybe not for a reaction (or maybe?), but I recently found this gem, a live performance at Pinkpop 1996 of The Gathering. I think while young she has great technique while singing with power (but I'm a noob...) and even jumping on stage. And if you like happy singers, her smile is very nice 😍

Not trying to sound like a repeating record but this was some time ago, she was live, and seating. She has grown since. Lastly English is her second language where you can hear “T”s pronounced as “D”s and, other phonetically mispronunciations, which is the same with Marcelito Pomoy. Great review!
