I know this is years too late but, on a training video seeing the actual/modified data screen is 1000 times more important than seeing the vehicle on a dyno or seeing the presenter.
I wouldn't want trim corrections while setting my base VE although maybe there is some wisdom to it on these ecus. on a true VE based standalone I turn closed loop off when calibrating base fueling.
Hi there thanks for that. Question, since you're using LTFT + STFT , after you pasted your changes, I would have thought you would need to RESET the LTFT's before doing the next Run. Am I misunderstanding something?
Actually Virtual VE takes more computing power and a VE table is faster but Virtual VE is better for the engine manufacture because it adapts easier to different variations from vehicle to vehicle. Let's say the exhaust characteristics change, or valve diameter changes, a single or very selective group of coefficients need to changed rather than a range or area of settings in a traditional VE table that need to be proved out empirically. .
Sorry, didn't want to come across as crapping on your video. I'm self taught at tuning and never took any expensive courses and learned a few things by watching this. Thanks very much
@@njphil1279 So you're saying the coefficients are not coefficients of a multi order polynomial, but they actually represent some physical characteristic of the engine?
My question is, for a late model ford ecoboost what would be the proper steps for logging for speed density? Is there parameters that need to be turned off first since it doesn't have a MAF?
I’ve been looking into hp tuners because a friend asked me to possibly tune their suburban but man it just seems so much more complicated than it needs to be honestly. Is there a real-time update? Do we have to flash every single time we make a change? Are there shortcut keys? Quick adjustment keys? I must be spoiled with my native software cause this just seems overly complicated.
I wonder is there an online web application like a real time simulator where you can see all of the most common parameters for tuning engines so you could change them to see the result?
that traditional VE model is really weird if the pressure areas are going to be close. I would expect it to be around 100% VE or maybe a few percent over, not 150% at some points. nice info on how to force VE mode on these ecus though.
@@bmichael1991 but.... the high/lo match is only during ve tuning? then the low table is put back to stock? with no VE adjustments? doesnt make sense to me. My understanding is when you apply the custom OS for NoMaf aka speed density, it converts to use LOW ONLY, meaning there is no more HIGH table... So if you do speed density yourself without applying custom OS in HPT or in tuner pro, you have to copy the high to the low so you get the higher numbers into the low table since thats the only one it will be looking at...
I also would love a video and learn on vvt tuning. I tried tuning a vvt 5.3 and even on stock tune there was as much as 8 degrees timing retard occuring
Hello sir. I'm Planning go from a 6.0 to a 5.3 in my 09 pontiac g8 gt? I tried searching around for a 6.0 in good condition ,but they are way too expensive right now. I know its a tacky swap but its all I can afford and plus its my daily driver. I want to see if this Hp tuner item already has preloaded files for certain cars already so that I could copy the 5.3 pcm perimeters to the g8's pcm or do i have to copy a file from a 5.3 vehicle like the 08 impala SS. I've seen this swap done on youtube but he never got into full build details.
Grab your OS number from the tune information, then find a 5.3L tune file on the tune repository with the same OS as yours. You can then segment swap the engine parameters to your current G8 tune file, upload the tune to your car, then make any adjustments from there by data logging the new tune.
These 1.5 hour videos seem to spend 15 mins on topic and the rest running off on every tangent that can be thought of. When you are actually addressing the setup, doing a continuous setup from start to finish on whichever generation before talking about the alternatives would be easier to comprehend
Easy to go on a tangent when you don’t have a physical audience to engage with. However this comment turned me off on this video at first I then searched numerous others not finding info I needed and came back to and this actually provided me with answers I was looking for. This whole time 🙃
I appreciate knowing all the alternatives and all the information so I could correctly learn how to tune any type of vehicle. These long videos are great so we can learn as much as we can. And they have them for free

btw, 14.7 psig is 101.3 kPag, or 1.013 barg. 1 barg is 100 kPag is 14.5 psig
I guess he's so used to talk about the stoichiometric air/fuel mixture for gasoline which are approximately 14.7. Easy to mix 🤔
Do you not have to disable .ltft and stft before you start so it does not skew the numbers?

Can I use hp tuners on a 04 ion 2.2

A lot of great and clear info! thanks!!
With a fixed cam, wouldnt still need to change cam inputs for fueling?

Some GM ECUs support real time tuning and it definitely helps but otherwise you're stuck flashing every time

Why won't HPT add Real Time Tuning for Gen 4 GM
