Thank you so much for posting this video. Asanoha is one of my favorite Sashiko patterns. My first attempt at drawing the pattern resulted in a diagram where you could see a six-pointed star if you squinted just right. Too many lines. So I tried it again, slowly and carefully, following the steps in your video. Wow! I'm so happy I can reproduce this pattern by using your formula and directions. It is so empowering to do this from scratch.

I have been wanting to learn the basics of Sashiko for a while and I just found your channel. Your tutorials are excellent and so helpful - from the basics of Sashiko and the materials and tools to use to the patterns..... like this one..... that you so wonderfully explain and draw. I hope that you will continue to create more videos like this one to help us understand how to do more of the beautiful Sashiko patterns.... and... of course.... how to stitch them after we have gotten them drawn !!! Thank you sooooo much !!!

I watched this video, then went to the next one but am a little confused. Question: why can't you just trace the pattern you just drew? I know they are different sizes but if you used the same ratio, couldn't you just copy it to the fabric with a light box?

      Yes, you can😊
If you watch my other videos, you’ll notice that I almost never trace a pattern (except for the latest video of an Ukiyoe pattern). It’s just how I do.
I drew on paper for the purpose of to show how to draw it in this video, but I usually just draw on fabric directly if I know how to draw it.
Many people trace patterns and that’s widely done. If you prefer to trace it, you can absolutely do so!
I personally think I can draw more clearly and accurately if I draw a pattern directly and I can choose different types of erasable markers depending of the material but you can trace it too!

Why do you this more complicated? After you mark the middle of the "stars", connect the points steeper. That's it.

There must be many ways to draw this as it’s a traditional pattern😊 This method serves well for my purposes and I have been using it, but I have no intention to deny other methods. You may find a better way for your purposes too👍

No problem at all❤️ I originally came up with this method for a very specific purpose (drawing by hand directly on fabric for Sashiko), so I genuinely think that there are better and simpler ways depending on the purposes👍😊 Please feel free to modify it.
