That first gentile believer after Jesus death on the cross was the Roman Centurion Saint Longinus. He suffered from an eye disease, he speared Jesus in the side and when Jesus blood spilled out and touched him he was instantly healed of his eye affliction. I have seen the magnificent statue of Saint Longinus by Bernini at St Peters Basilica. In the Phillipines they have a strong devotion to Saint Longinus.

    • @JordonHill

Jesus crucified is the tree of life. It’s fruit is the Eucharist. Jesus’ death on the cross reunites heaven with earth therefore the place of the skull can only be the garden of eden. The place of creation. Life out of death. We enter back into Eden when we partake of the sacrament of the Eucharist.

As the Son of God who became human, Jesus was both God and man. So, at the time of the cross Jesus was still both God and man. So in the words, "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?", This refers to the human nature of Jesus, who prayed to God his Father. The prayer offered by Jesus in Matt. 27:46 is not the prayer of someone who is hopeless, but the prayer of hope.
And because of Jesus' physical limitations at the time of the crucifixion (note: when a person is crucified, every breath is a torture), He only uttered one line from Psalm 22. And therefore, Catholics believe that Jesus revealed Psalm 22 as a whole, which is an expression of God's victory over all suffering and also including death. It can be seen that Jesus quoted the Psalms, where at the beginning of the Psalms it says, “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? … ”(Ps 22: 1) and then ends with a cry of praise to God.
This is one of the reasons why Catholics believe in Jesus as God, because He was prophesied before, including births, public works, miracles, suffering, death, resurrection, etc. This prophecy is so important that mankind does not mistake the Person whom God has promised from the very beginning. If this is not from God, it is very difficult to explain how a prophecy that was declared hundreds or even a thousand years BC was fulfilled in Jesus.
    Warm regards from Indonesia.

Each Ending of the four gospels upon the cross Jesus quotes a Psalm and the last gospel of John when Jesus says, +it is done+ this is continued in the book of Revelation written by John.
    Revelation 21:5
“Behold, I am making all things new.” And He said, “Write, for these words are faithful and true.” Then He said to me, +“It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end.+ I will give to the one who thirsts from the spring of the water of life without cost.
    John 19:30
Therefore when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said,+ “It is finished!”+ And He bowed His head and gave up His spirit.
    +++++++++++++
    Psalm 31:5
Into Your hand I commit my spirit; You have ransomed me, O LORD, God of truth
    Luke 23
44Now it was nearly the sixth hour, and a darkness occurred over the entire earth, until the ninth hour.
45And the sun was obscured. And the veil of the temple was torn down the middle.
46And Jesus, crying out with a loud voice, said: +“Father, into your hands I commend my spirit.”+ And upon saying this, he expired. 47Now, the centurion, seeing what had happened, glorified God, saying, “Truly, this man was the Just One.”

So he was not really feeling forsaken (and did David really feel forsaken too?), he was just quoting psalm 22 but he nonetheless suffered the crucifixion...
Is it the same when he said "My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me." He just quotes? He did not really mean it?

  • @andrewestrada9822
    @andrewestrada9822 Год назад

Another explanation why the place where Jesus is crucified is named "Golgotha, the place of the skull" is that it references what God tells the serpent, Satan, in the garden , that She, the woman, the Blessed Mother, will crush your head (skull) as in triumph. This triumph comes to ultimate fruition on Calvary on the cross....

Jesus affirms that He is the new David by reciting Psalm 22 at His last breath. The first thing David did when he received the Ark is bring it UP to Jerusalem. Mary is the new Ark. The first thing Jesus would do at the end of her life would be to bring her up to the new Jerusalem. And John did see her in heaven when he says that he saw THE Ark. That's why The Assumption is in the Bible.

The explanation of the protestants that the Father turned his face from Jesus or that he abandoned Jesus because Jesus took all the sins of the world is pure nonsense and i will tell you why... First of all as Dr Peter said, you read the whole psalm 22, it is not a psalm of despair but of trust. Second, it is impossible to separate God the Father from God the Son and it is also impossible to separate the divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ from his humanity. Third, The wrath of God came upon man because Adam sinned, because Adam disobeyed, how could God turn his face or abandon Jesus the only one who was obedient unto death, death on the cross? Impossible. Jesus on the cross was not just the new Adam, the victim, but also our high priest, he was praying on our behalf because he was representing all of humanity. Actually because of these words, now we have peace with God again...

WE NEED TO BE SANCTIFIED FIRST BEFORE RECEIVING THE HOLY SPIRIT.
Why did Jesus say, "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? (My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me?)", just before dying?
34 "And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" MARK 15:34
The Holy Spirit had to have left Jesus' body, for at that time it was filled with all the sins of the world and unclean. He (God the Holy Spirit) re-entered Jesus, when He was resurrected, without blemish and cleansed of all our sins.
1 "And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: 2 And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;" ISAIAH 11:1-2
2 "And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world." 1 JOHN 2:2
24 "Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed." 1PETER 2:24

    To whom it may concern,
I am Patricia’s father, and a character reference for her. I can confirm that she is a woman who prides herself in being “independent”. She’s both
independent in her thought processes and her actions. Her independent thinking can be seen in her meticulous record keeping, her ability to carefully
analyze and solve malfunctions such as: computer related, household related, and automobile related, etc.
I’ve known of her working for over 24 hours on a problem. On those occasions when she finds herself to be unknowledgeable about a subject she’s undauntedly researches the topic and/or seeks the advice of experienced people so she can solve the problem herself. When she makes decisions she staunchly sticks by those decisions; arguing her “point-of-view”.
Patricia’s “independent” behavior can be seen in her passionate dedication to her points-of-view. She fiercely protects her children, and to her inalienable rights as a private citizen. I would refer to my daughter as an “alpha” female.
For your information, I have a Bachelors degree in Criminology with a minor in Sociology. I have worked for the Department of Defense for over 40 years as an aircraft electrician and avionics technician. I have also held supervisory positions where I hired personnel based on their character and other references. I’ve also had to evaluate personnel and their job performance. I, too, have staunchly stood by my decisions before my supervisors or other people appointed over me (maybe that’s where Patricia gets her independent attitude).
    Sincerely,
    Walter Herbert
Stepping down the chain of command nothing could be worse then knowing my lamb is experiencing the pains of my crucifixion nailed down behind closed doors. If my intentions were to leave her to suffer and die I would not be forced to become my daughter to defend the equality, and honor of my Mother Mary myself.
I am the good shepherd; I know my own sheep, and they know me, just as my Father knows me and I know the Father. And I lay down my life for the sheep. 10:14 John
Acknowledging the value of my time a true American Father would honor his vows to treat me as himself. Holding true to his pledge of allegiance he would make me a financial offer we both agreed upon, and I could invest my time into setting limitations to avoid harm. Automatically his body will respond to subdue any threat to his dominant position, and he becomes overwhelmed with the sensation to attack me. Inflicting pain is what my purpose serves to prevent, and unless you pull the weed out by the root it will grow back becoming a nuisance.
Persecuting me for claiming the fruits to my own labor I am stripped of my title, and forbidden to speak. Resorting to violence, and forced to conform to the rules of a violent sexual offender to have access to the resources I earn to survive was not the agreement.
Just as you would not give all the boys control over the lunch money for the girls in a school setting the same should apply in the household for the following reasons. The current practices of sexual slavery and trafficking of women and children are similarly abhorrent to the principles upon which the United States was founded.
If you saw the Father raise a knife to your child you would remove the knife from his hands before the crime was committed preventing the criminal all altogether. I have been subjected to persecution beyond what I ever thought possible by a hierarchy of heads on my own justice system. Multiplying himself just like the fraudulent Fathers in the Catholic Church there is no limit to how low they will go to dishonor my role.
Standing in opposition to me the beast competes for the most financial power, and paired with a pre-disposition to maintain the illusion he is superior triggers the flight or fight reaction depleting blood from the brain necessary to compute basic logic.
Claiming the value of my time will NOT raise his intelligence level above mine. Forced to provide the responsibilities of the justice system for free what right do they have to persecute me or any child for that matter for all the problems which arise as a result of dictator officially taking responsibility?

I completely disagree with that "safe" interpretation of just quoting Psalm 22. That is not even an explanation of why Jesus said it and why did the Messiah in Psalm said it. He said it maybe because Jesus was forsaken by the Father that is why the Apostles' Creed says...
"He was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to hell. The third day he rose again from the dead."
Just merely saying he is a quoting an old testament scripture does not offer an explanation at all, why not quote something else? Why even use the word forsaken? Anyway, thank you for this video. I learned something from this not related to Psalm 22. To God be the Glory!

It was common practice at that place and time, before Sacred Scripture was divided into chapter and verse, to quote the first line only (in the case of psalms, the first substantive line). Look at the content of that particular psalm. When it was first written, the idea of a suffering Servant descending into death (v. 15) and then somehow coming back to open a salvific relationship between God and all the nations (v. 28) would have made no sense, except for the belief that God can do anything. But like Dr. Pitre explained, it wasn't something that David or anyone else in the books of the Old Covenant had ever done. And the parallels to crucifixion in that psalm, especially the particular crucifixion of Jesus, are amazing. Clearly, Psalm 22 is about Jesus, and it is equally clear that Jesus prayed that psalm from the cross.

What is your interpretation then? And on what authority is your interpretation more correct than the apostolic tradition? Pls...
