Thank you Polo Reef for sharing this video, learned a lot about lights and new lights that reef bright has to offer, I would love to see pendent light on the tank and see without any other lights on to see how corals look under that light only, but great video, thank you,
Another awesome video! I really appreciate the detailed content, especially learning about how the tanks operate. I do have a few questions that came to mind: • What are the advantages of these lights in terms of operational costs? Are they more energy-efficient? • Do the lights help reduce cooling needs by generating less heat, making it easier to maintain the right water temperature? • When it comes to backup power, do the lights add an extra margin of safety? I imagine they might be easier on generators, but I’d love to hear more about it. Thanks again for the great content!
"True daylight, but no UV". Not true full spectrum. Another great LED light in the market. Better than most available in terms of spread, to say the least. If you want LEDs, get that. Ha! Best light for corals are real full spectrum. The 6500K halides are what comes closer to sunlight. The 10K halides are second place. 14K halide lamps will give you the best combination of "white" and "blue" light for a halide. The 20K halides are mostly for the "blues", but still a white lamp with the proper ballast. Those 20K halides are still full spectrum, but with more "blues". The 14K halides are the king for any comparison over reef tanks. I love Tulio's explanations. I hope LED users will consider his new lights! I'm still a halide/T5 guy! That tank needs a 14K halide lamp with some nice reflectors IMO!!!! Those LEDs are so expensive and will NEVER SUBSTITUTE the QUALITIES of any halide lamp! Sorry! 13:50. No Andrew, it doesn't "DUPLICATE A METAL HALIDE BULB". THAT IS A WRONG STATEMENT!!
Curious what you may recommend for a deep tank led light. I have a 5 foot tall by 3 foot deep by 7 foot long tank I am converting from fresh to saltwater. Trying to research what lights will punch down all the way to the bottom in order to grow corals.
What's the bright white looking coral at 10:32? I got one from Mike palettas tank last month that looks just like it. When I saw it in his tank I new I had to have a frag. It really pops!
T5 guy here, 8 bulbs that go edge to edge of my tank, front to back, left to right. No point source lighting. 7 month old reef tank, my acropora's and several other Sps corals are doing incredible, not to mention the various Lps corals growing like crazy. End of story for me.
that commercial coral vue pendant is akin to a real fullrange high efficiency speakers which give you similar performance as those d'agostino / wilson set up 😁
Those 50/50 are gorgeous, the corals looked so good! Definitely reminded me of T5 lighting. Since you guys were talking power, would you be willing to share your usage and power costs to run all that? Thanks!
The Hydros XHO has yet to be released. I like that he said it has the Hydros brain built in, that's keeping with Hydros philosophy of redundancy. Does anybody know why it seems lighting is moving away from spectrum adjustability within one fixture, and starting to require supplemental lights again? Seems like lighting is taking steps backwards. But I like that we are all starting to think of the full spectrum of light for corals.
@@PoloReef I just switched to Quanta Atlas lights with an AI Blade for supplimental light. The spectrum of that light is very similar to the industrial light he was showing. There is some really interesting lighting out there. Thanks for sharing this with us!
@@johngraves2185 I know. it upsets me you cant change spectrum. btw i hated the color of ushio 14k mogul but i think the de was better ! Still prob needs supplements
I’m currently using one over my tank and it reminds me of the Hamilton 14k, it’s not that white compared to the mogul base version. I do run two Quanta meso blue pro bars, but the Atlas is doing 90% of the work.

Na, I think he’s annoyed he went with Dalua. Anyone that saw these lights at Reefapalooza know that these lights are a game changer. They simulate the old VHOs that people desire. Then, teaming up with Hydros, it moved Tullio’s lights to another level.
Love the narration, you guys are making mini docs. Love it.
The video I needed.
Tulio’s new hydros/XHO leds are going to be a game changer. He has shown that the intensity and spectral output really makes a difference.
After 30+ years in the hobby still a lot to learn you clearly never stop learning good job. Keep it up.

You can see how well the bottom of the drop down tank was eliminated with his new lights and a crisp color in comparison. Very interesting. Thanks.🐟
The depth penetration of the light in that deep section on the 900 dropdown was fantastic

The UV produced by Metal Halide can never be matched by any LED produced. Metal Halide is still superior to any LED in the market.
