Christian metal typically tends to have uplifting lyrics and are usually intended to spread the message of God. Sometimes the message is "in your face," and at other times it can be a "read-between-the-lines" kind of message. Regardless of how you interpret the music, you should almost always walk away feeling a little better be it emotionally, spiritually or even, in this case, physically. It's nice to have positive messages to balance out all the negative messages most of us receive on a daily basis.

I always found it interesting that Skillet's guitarist Korey Cooper was married to Skillet's vocalist John Cooper but I've also always liked Jen Ledger best both she and John have gone and done side project bands, but also Jen Ledger and Korey Cooper have been friends for a long time. Considering all of that Skillet have been together for 25+ Years. Amazing people.
I also really love that Skillet took the time to open for one of my favorite up and coming rock bands, the family band Liliac and then John Cooper hung out with them after the show.
Well, they are a Christian rock band, because the members are Christians, their lyrics are inspired by Christian ideas, and because they use their platform to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. Many of their songs contain concepts that are taken right out of the Bible.
Great reaction. Yes, heavy metal is associated with rebellion and sin, so how can there be Christian heavy metal? Because, in Christian religion, Jesus came to save sinners. So the message in Christian heavy metal is often how the band members were originally lost sinners and then saved by Jesus forgiveness. Now they have such energetic joy they want to share the message that Jesus came for everyone, even the worst sinners as they used to be. Hope that makes sense.
