I still to this day hum this song, and always sing "Rwanda Rwanda" because as a teenager, this song and it's meaning had such a huge impact on me. I carry this with me EVERYWHERE. Hum it everywhere, just for their memory. Anyways, (Im rambling, sorry), but all these years later, I still couldn't remember the lyrics and searched google for the past few months with things like "Christian song about girl who went to Rwanda?" "Rwanda Christian Song Brunette Girl" "2010's rwanda song" and i COULD NOT FIND IT. Until just now I was humming it in the kitchen and sang out Albertine without thinking..I REMEMBERED! ... but hearing it again... Oh man. It brings it all back. and now i'm crying. ok bye, thanks brooke for singing me through some tough times. even with just a little hummed melody to guide me

God has used Brooke to speak to me encouragement, I have loved this song since I first heard it, and it was the instrument that God used to push me to do mission trips. Her voice, and genius is song writing is truly a gift from God, and I hope others are as inspired and encouraged by her lyrics as I am.

I have some concerns about the song capitalising off Africa/Rwanda to sell records & gain commercial success and promote her brand as a humanitarian. From her interview “For example, she's open about her disdain for parts of the Christian music industry and says, "My issue there is the merchandising of the gospel and people making money off the name of Jesus." However, recently (and this is where she swears), she's been thinking that with Albertine, which is named after a Rwandan orphan she met during a visit to Africa in 2005, she could be cashing-in also. "It's funny, and ironic that with Albertine, perhaps I've done that too. And I'm like, 'shit'. But it definitely wasn't intentional.”
