      well its $ 1.5 min pre mile suppolsy run about 2500 to 3000 miles week so weekly paycheck should be around $3,750 to $4,500 week the sliding what you get paid is based on van vs flatbed short haul on flat bed is 2.00$ for western express. if you work 3 weeks out of month $11,250 to $13,500 now the average truck gets about 6.5 miles per gallon cost $5 or $6 mile cost of truck and insurance run anywhere $1059 week to low end $779.00 week cost are tax write offs if you're like me and have another business-like farm that my EIN runs out you can make that taxable income disappear. it be harder if you're only running as owner operator but if you have business already like myself having farm and then you run your trucking commercial off farm EIN with its own DOT and MC and that business like my farm pays for all your home cost and bills and itself.

    4:27 bro youre gonna need to use that fuel anyways. Might as well fill up where its the cheapest. You might have a slightly bigger check one week but you gonna feel it the following week forsure. It really doesn't make a big difference. The real killer when it comes to fuel is IDLING. That's when you start to overspend on fuel and maintenance. Dont be afraid to fill up your tank when you find cheap fuel.

    It made sense when freight was 2+ per mile. But with the fixed costs, and the fact they charge more than most dealers would interest wise, you really have to be dedicated to living in the truck there’s no other way. And with the market right now, I’d wait a year or two before making that kind of leap

    • @ProjectBedrok
      @ProjectBedrok  Год назад +1

      $117 something is missing how many miles did you do that week? Are you behind on your pymts from hometime/vacation?
      You have to take a hard look at your truck expenses example: my fixed truck expenses never break $1000
      Variable expenses are Fuel and Escrow
      Mean they will fluctuate

    I hate to rain on anybody’s parade but getting $1.50 per mile really isn’t great when you remember that all expenses come out of your end. At best yoy are making the same take home as a company driver at an actual decent company (read: not western exp) but for way more extra hassle. I ger it, you are new. I’m not knocking you if you are happy but you aren’t nearly as well paid as you may think.

    This guy is obviously new to this LP program. First of all ive been here at WSXI for almost 16 years. 6 years have been as an LP driver. I made incredible amount of money here over 2.5k weekly and thats from M-S... going home every weekend. This last year has been the worst year ever with freight. Ive struggled in these last 10 months. After they fired the night planner rodney who made sure drivers were moving and had them fedex loads moving, this company has gone down tremendously. Not the same. Im not making over 1k a week its hit or miss now. Guys u dont have to work everyweekend to make money.. this guy is single and has no responsibilities at home so ita easy for him to stay out.

    Number 4 truck maintenance. Despite that being a lease you are responsible for maintenance and preventable repairs. You can account that for 20 cents a mile to be on the safe side. That brings you to 80 cents a mile if you are not accounting for any additional repairs, blown tires etc. Sounds good when you compare it to base rate per mile as a new driver, I don't see it being sustainable in the long run. Line haul driver straight out of school can make 76 cents a mile, with tanker and hazmat endorsement. No overhead close to 2k after taxes w2. You mention 1099 being tax free might be confusing to new drivers, if you are not setting aside 20-30% of your gross you might be surprised when you do your taxes.
    There is lot to learn in this business besides holdin on to steering wheel and counting miles. At least you are not one of those guys who are flashing piles of money saing how much they make this week all being gross income before expenses.
    If you can make over 100k with your western express lease in your first year that's great. Once the market turns, finance your own equipment end lease it on or get your own authority and double that money with the same workload.
    Good luck to you, and stay safe on your journey.
