One of my factory headlights went out on my ‘14 Honda Accord. So I bought Sylvania Silverstar Ultra (H11). They are nice and clear; HOWEVER, they dim over time and only last about 4-6months before they burn out. It states it on their packaging. With these lights, the brighter the bulb the shorter the life. I’ve replaced them four times, and only because they kept burning and I needed a quick fix. I’m now going with something else.
If you're going through bulbs every six months there's another problem. Either electrical or you're teaching the glass on the buld itself which will cause it to prematurely burn out thanks to the oils in your skin
I use latex gloves to put the bulbs on. Furthermore, reviews on Amazon claim a short life span of 4-6 months, as well. After further research, Sylvania states this particular bulb only has a life span of 150-200 hours. If you do the math, it comes out to 5 to 6.5 months at an hour-a-day use of the bulb. It's time to go LED, Fredrick.

I bought Sylvania white blue halogen headlights for a 1979 Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais and they improved range and visibility drastically. I wish they make the replacement bulbs like that for the newer plastic lens vehicles. P.S. The paint on the ends of the bulbs was blue not black in the head lamps for the 1979 Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais.

You've got it wrong on the zxe, sure they look the best but they also perform the best of all shown. I'm not reading from the website. I've had these bulbs in everything from small sedans to all the way up to suburbans, I also work midnights and take rural/unlit roads every night. If you want the best without blinding other drivers they're the best for the price. And if you're blinding other drivers, always make sure lights are properly adjusted every time you change a bulb
I live in a rural town as well and it’s winter so it gets pitch dark early. I have been contemplating new lights bcus sometimes it seems like my lights aren’t even on! But I have been so worried about blinding others, as I myself get blinded 😭😭😭
Aggread, if people are blinding you they probably have illigal LED's above 3,000 lumens above the recommended for legally driving while not blinding people. It's ridiculous so many light companies are trying to scam people these days.
Once upon a time, it used to be so easy to change or upgrade headlight bulbs. You just take the original bulb to your nearest auto parts dealer and get the new bulb. With new technologies, this simple task has become overwhelming. In my 2017 Toyota Camry Atara SL (Australian Model), it has low beam headlight has an H11 Halogen bulb with projector housing and high beam headlight has an HB3 Halogen bulb with reflector housing. I am not sure why Toyota didn't have both as either reflector or projector housing. It also has parking light bulbs in wedge base housing. I simply want to replace the bulbs with a bit more brightness and whiter. I am so confused, I don't know which bulb to buy? I very much appreciate your help.
Ha I agree, I’ve own old models of GM and there just like legos, easy to put back. And have fun engine swapping them. But my buds got the new gm models and there slightly different. But for white would be the silver star halogen bulb.
This is nothing more than marketing fluff. Actual specifications would be nice - color temperature, lifetime, brightness, etc. Why does Sylvania not provide this basic information? :(
they do provide it. on the packaging. Also do a google search, its not a companies job to reach out to you and inform you of every specification of their product. Also, you are watching a video from O"Reilly Auto Parts youtube channel, maybe that isnt the best place to get detailed specifics
i do a lot of night driving, bought the Silverstar 9003s, and the first one burned out in a year. great lights but if annual headlight changes aren't your thing i'd just get basic bulbs
Just get Lasfit - LC plus that has 25W per bulb, 2500 lumens per bulb, $50 a pair, 1 year warranty. They are two and half times brighter than stock. Definitely a nice affordable upgrade from Lasfit.

For the Sylvania - Silverstar ultra, it’s 27% brighter than stock, and 16% whiter than stock. It’s the brightest halogen bulb performance in its segment. If u want the brightest halogen bulbs, the silverstar ultra is the way to go. But they last around a year or more. Depending how u use it. I bought it for $45 bucks. And it’s worth it. Remember, the brighter the halogen lights, the lower the lifespan.
Basically if you're just looking for working headlights, get the light blue box "basic" ones. If you want ones that are brighter but don't last as long (rated for 375 hours) get the purple box xtravision ones. Those are your two options. Don't get the silverstar or silverstar ultra ones, their life expectancy (on the back of the package) is less than 200 hours. They're not worth the money.
I own them. And honestly, they are worth the money. I had some of my xB enthusiasts had these. And they had it between 1-1.5 years. They are truly worth the money for better brightness off the halogen, and it’d excellent.

After multiple Silver Star ULTRA failures at about a year, guessing 400 hours ($ 45) I switched to Philips Night Guide 130% rated bulbs. Havent had a burnout yet. I did test some $$ LEDs that are whiter, brighter, but blow light everywhere. Poor focus. Replaced with Philips.

The blind blue kind he describes is the 6000k led white lights with a tinge of blue. The led bulbs are much more precise and mimic better than halogens. U can only blind other drivers with blinding blue kind, if u get the wrong ones.
Kind of a joke improving the bulbs output and sacrificing service life by as much as 50% in some cases. But if people are good with replacing bulbs 1-2 times a year, power to them. No pun intended.
Yeah I bought a pair of Silverstar Ultras and they burned out within 4 months because I use my car for work and work at night. The basics last much longer. I did try using LED’s but they do not work in Halogen housings unless you can pony up $250 for ones that do work properly.

I can forgive the sylvania - silverstar. But I personally prefer and for projector gives a better contrast and the light output it makes. The sylvania - silverstar ultra are the best high performance halogen bulbs. The kelvin increase from dingy ugly yellow white 3100k. To nice contrast 3650k Very nice and very nice color. It increase the brightness up to 27% brighter and 16% whiter than stock. Which is very nice for a halogen bulb. Lifespan is 1.5 years The maximum lux is 1299 So that’s 39% brighter than stock And that’s for low beams. However the high beams is weird. It decrease by -1% less bright. Which is odd. So that’s 283 maximum lux. For the Lumens, the stock lumens the 25 feet is between 900-1220 lumens for 55 watt. With the sylvania - silverstar ultra. It went 1300 lumens. So that’s +4% increase in lumens. Which very respectable increase. The color temperature is actually 3675K. So they are bit more white then oem. Which a better look to ur vehicle with H11 projector housing. Makes it look more sharper. The lifespan of this is 1.5 years. Realize, the brighter the halogen lights, the shorter the lifespan is. The price for the H11 size is $45 bucks. It’s worth it if u don’t mind the lifespan but worth for how it performs very well for a high performance halogen bulbs. You might want to try the next step up from the regular bulb and see how that does. Amazon does allow returns fairly easily. If you are not satisfied, put it back in the original packaging and ask for a refund.
Get the sylvania silverstar ultra. They last 1.5 years but it’s worth it. Or get an led with a pure white 5000k. Try Formula J87, they offer 4300k, and 5000k.
For SSU on H11 is 1.5 years or 200 hours of lifespan. For 9006, it’s 300 hours of lifespan. If u have an H1, the smallest halogen bulbs. And if u get SSU, the lifespan is 100. And that’s bad. Swap with led like Lasfit or Auxito for better lifespan on those tiny led bulbs.
Of course. But if u want brighter than stock and want led. I would recommend Lasfit - LC plus 9006 led bulbs. They are 2 and a half times brighter than stock. And it retains the same beam pattern as ur original halogen. For both price between SSU VS. Lasfit. - LC plus they are on $50 price range. Although SSU is $3-$5 more than led. But the halogen is 250Hrs of lifespan VS. led are 30,000 hours of lifespan. The halogen bulb produce 750+ degrees Fahrenheit And led bulbs, especially the LC plus model produce 123 degrees Fahrenheit. The led bulbs are very compact. And will still fit well for 99% vehicles. So if u have 9006 halogen bulb, u need to get a 9006 led bulbs.
For ur Hyundai, I would also recommend get a Lasfit - anti-flicker or resistor to keep ur led bulbs stable. Because with Hyundai, led bulbs can react weird on Korean cars from my understanding. So get a resistor to keep the led bulbs stable.

We been running with Lasfit with about a year with no issues. Upgrade with led is a must, it’s safer, it’s brighter, it’s better. And u won’t blind others with the correct two sided led bulbs. That’s a fact. Halogen bulbs are a thing of the past, they are not bright enough and not safe enough. We have no issues at all.
I mean what do u expect? Ur not gonna expect for a long lasting halogens. They are great products. The problem for u is, ur lookin for long lasting and best brightness light source. So go for led of course. The silvania - silverstar ultra has 325 hours of lifespan, and that takes about a year before they go out. And they have 4000k. The silverstar ZXE has 4100k. And it has 100 life’s span. They will last less than a year. Higher output halogen bulbs will always have a sacrifice. Either u want basic bulbs that doesn’t produce brightness her long lasting, or u want better brightness to see the road better, but will have a shorter lifespan. That’s just the way the halogen goes. A one year of 4000k/4100k halogen bulbs is pretty decent. Try look up 8000k-8500k GP thunder halogen bulbs. Those last about 2-3 months 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 too much power for a halogen.
And no they are mot the same. Compare between basic and silverstar ultra. For more accurate brightness, using a projector low beam. The basic halogen lights rates 3000k. Which is the typical warm and ugly yellow light. The silverstar ultra are 4000k. Which is a cool white that spreads down the road even better. And if u still had this problem and expect the brightness spread, well it only creates brighter. The only way to get this affect, is to (if u have a projector low beam) adjust ur projector low beam. From there, u can see a plastic bolt that u can use to adjust with a wrens or with a Philip screwdriver.
I recommend them and keep them in mind that sylvania - silver star ultra are the best high performance halogen bulbs. They burned out faster yes, but it depends on the bulb size. The smaller the halogen bulb, and with high performance SSU, the shorter the lifespan will be. H11’s are the best ones. Even 9006 are better that larger bulbs size, last a bit longer but not as much as own or XtraVision.
For the comparison price, and performs way better than SSU. Get Lasfit - LC plus. Both are $50 price range or $3 more for SSU. For H11 as an example. SSY VS. LC Plus 250 Hrs VS. 30,000 Hrs 750+ degrees Fahrenheit VS. 123 degrees Fahrenheit Color temperature and brightness difference: SSU - 3650K 27% brighter and 16% whiter than stock Lasfit LC plus - 6000k pure white 250% brighter than stock. Bulbfacts actually test the sylvania basic bulb. Surprisingly, instead of restore the brightness. It’s 4% percent dimmer than oem. That’s not a good thing.
@@jgg204 oh I had no problems on the road with halogens before. When I bought my 2015 Scion xB brand new 8 years ago. It was fine. At the time, I didn’t know much about led. Or how to chance them. It was all stock. On projector it was good. 6-7 years later, I realize they becoming more dim and I was surprised it was holding well. But not for long. I constantly put on high beams and it’s sort of brighter than restored brightness of the low beams. Man the degredation of the haligje bulbs we’re super dim and unsafe. So again. I had no issues using halogens. It’s just not bright enough. So switch to sylvania silverstar ultra, and they were a lot better. Nicer 3800k. 27% brighter and 16% whiter than stock. I only had them for 5 months. So now I switch to Lasfit - LD plus switchback led. 6000k white and 3000k yellow. 3 time brighter than stock. And it’s way better to see farther down the road. LED’s are the way to go for precise led bulbs.

It only depends on the bulb size. Sylvania are excellent brand to upgrade with high performance halogen. If u don’t the shorter lifespan. I use to run with SSU ( sylvania - silverstar ultra) and I had them for 5 months before I switch to led. And they are sweet.
If u want something a bit brighter, between 2 - 2.5 times brighter than stock. I’d highly recommend Lasfit - L1 plus fanless 20W per bulb 2000 lumens per bulb 6000K $40 a pair, 2 year warranty Or Lasfit - LC plus 25W per bulb 2500 lumens per bulb, and 6000k $50 a pair, 1 year warranty. U will be much happier with them.

U got xenon halogen bulbs which is fine. The blind blue kind he describes is the 6000k led white lights with a tinge of blue.
The led bulbs are much more precise and mimic better than halogens.
U can only blind other drivers with blinding blue kind, if u get the wrong ones.
Kind of a joke improving the bulbs output and sacrificing service life by as much as 50% in some cases. But if people are good with replacing bulbs 1-2 times a year, power to them. No pun intended.
Yeah I bought a pair of Silverstar Ultras and they burned out within 4 months because I use my car for work and work at night. The basics last much longer.
I did try using LED’s but they do not work in Halogen housings unless you can pony up $250 for ones that do work properly.

The basic halogen bulbs are a long life, meaning they will last 3-6 years.
But with sylvania silverstar ultra.
Those don’t last as much as the oem.
Our alternators are fine.
Realized, the brighter halogen bulbs that is a high performance halogen bulbs, the shorter the lifespan is.
U can even see the package between the pairs.

No they don’t. Look up bulbfacts.
They already tested multiple different halogen bulbs, own and aftermarket HID bulbs, and LED bulbs.
I can forgive the sylvania - silverstar.
But I personally prefer and for projector gives a better contrast and the light output it makes.
The sylvania - silverstar ultra are the best high performance halogen bulbs.
The kelvin increase from dingy ugly yellow white 3100k. To nice contrast 3650k Very nice and very nice color.
It increase the brightness up to 27% brighter and 16% whiter than stock. Which is very nice for a halogen bulb.
Lifespan is 1.5 years
The maximum lux is 1299
So that’s 39% brighter than stock
And that’s for low beams. However the high beams is weird. It decrease by -1% less bright. Which is odd.
So that’s 283 maximum lux.
For the Lumens, the stock lumens the 25 feet is between 900-1220 lumens for 55 watt.
With the sylvania - silverstar ultra. It went 1300 lumens. So that’s +4% increase in lumens. Which very respectable increase.
The color temperature is actually 3675K.
So they are bit more white then oem. Which a better look to ur vehicle with H11 projector housing.
Makes it look more sharper.
The lifespan of this is 1.5 years.
Realize, the brighter the halogen lights, the shorter the lifespan is.
The price for the H11 size is $45 bucks.
It’s worth it if u don’t mind the lifespan but worth for how it performs very well for a high performance halogen bulbs.

You might want to try the next step up from the regular bulb and see how that does. Amazon does allow returns fairly easily. If you are not satisfied, put it back in the original packaging and ask for a refund.
Get the sylvania silverstar ultra.
They last 1.5 years but it’s worth it.
Or get an led with a pure white 5000k. Try Formula J87, they offer 4300k, and 5000k.

For SSU on H11 is 1.5 years or 200 hours of lifespan. For 9006, it’s 300 hours of lifespan.
If u have an H1, the smallest halogen bulbs. And if u get SSU, the lifespan is 100. And that’s bad. Swap with led like Lasfit or Auxito for better lifespan on those tiny led bulbs.
Will the 9006 work on 2007 Hyundai

But if u want brighter than stock and want led.
I would recommend Lasfit - LC plus 9006 led bulbs.
They are 2 and a half times brighter than stock.
And it retains the same beam pattern as ur original halogen.
For both price between SSU VS. Lasfit. - LC plus they are on $50 price range.
Although SSU is $3-$5 more than led.
But the halogen is 250Hrs of lifespan VS. led are 30,000 hours of lifespan.
The halogen bulb produce 750+ degrees Fahrenheit
And led bulbs, especially the LC plus model produce 123 degrees Fahrenheit.
The led bulbs are very compact.
And will still fit well for 99% vehicles.
So if u have 9006 halogen bulb, u need to get a 9006 led bulbs.
For ur Hyundai, I would also recommend get a Lasfit - anti-flicker or resistor to keep ur led bulbs stable.
Because with Hyundai, led bulbs can react weird on Korean cars from my understanding.
So get a resistor to keep the led bulbs stable.
What if I want to blind other drivers though?
If u have a projector headlight housing, the beam pattern will focus more down on mid range and slightly lower.

But for the slightly brightest halogen, I’d recommend sylvania silverstar ultra.
But if u want something that can last and for good budget that’s $60 and up.
I’d go for sylvania H11 LED low beams.
then you shouldnt be driving on a public road. Also do some soul searching and ask yourself if your "enjoyment" is worth someone elses suffering.

We already do so much and much research to know and understand which led bulbs is right for our vehicles.
And that’s Lasfit. We been running with Lasfit with about a year with no issues.
Upgrade with led is a must, it’s safer, it’s brighter, it’s better. And u won’t blind others with the correct two sided led bulbs.
That’s a fact.
Halogen bulbs are a thing of the past, they are not bright enough and not safe enough.
We have no issues at all.

The problem for u is, ur lookin for long lasting and best brightness light source. So go for led of course.
The silvania - silverstar ultra has 325 hours of lifespan, and that takes about a year before they go out. And they have 4000k.
The silverstar ZXE has 4100k. And it has 100 life’s span. They will last less than a year.
Higher output halogen bulbs will always have a sacrifice.
Either u want basic bulbs that doesn’t produce brightness her long lasting, or u want better brightness to see the road better, but will have a shorter lifespan.
That’s just the way the halogen goes. A one year of 4000k/4100k halogen bulbs is pretty decent.
Try look up 8000k-8500k GP thunder halogen bulbs.
Those last about 2-3 months 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 too much power for a halogen.
Just get the basic, save you bucks and looks the same

That’s why they have options that suits u for ur basic taste
And no they are mot the same. Compare between basic and silverstar ultra. For more accurate brightness, using a projector low beam.
The basic halogen lights rates 3000k. Which is the typical warm and ugly yellow light.
The silverstar ultra are 4000k. Which is a cool white that spreads down the road even better.
And if u still had this problem and expect the brightness spread, well it only creates brighter. The only way to get this affect, is to (if u have a projector low beam) adjust ur projector low beam. From there, u can see a plastic bolt that u can use to adjust with a wrens or with a Philip screwdriver.

I recommend them and keep them in mind that sylvania - silver star ultra are the best high performance halogen bulbs.
They burned out faster yes, but it depends on the bulb size. The smaller the halogen bulb, and with high performance SSU, the shorter the lifespan will be.
H11’s are the best ones. Even 9006 are better that larger bulbs size, last a bit longer but not as much as own or XtraVision.
For the comparison price, and performs way better than SSU.
Get Lasfit - LC plus.
Both are $50 price range or $3 more for SSU.
For H11 as an example.

Bulbfacts actually test the sylvania basic bulb. Surprisingly, instead of restore the brightness. It’s 4% percent dimmer than oem. That’s not a good thing.

On projector it was good.
6-7 years later, I realize they becoming more dim and I was surprised it was holding well. But not for long.
I constantly put on high beams and it’s sort of brighter than restored brightness of the low beams.
Man the degredation of the haligje bulbs we’re super dim and unsafe.
So again. I had no issues using halogens. It’s just not bright enough.
So switch to sylvania silverstar ultra, and they were a lot better. Nicer 3800k. 27% brighter and 16% whiter than stock. I only had them for 5 months.
So now I switch to Lasfit - LD plus switchback led. 6000k white and 3000k yellow.
3 time brighter than stock. And it’s way better to see farther down the road.
LED’s are the way to go for precise led bulbs.
