LET THE TRUE LOVE HATE FEELING TOWARDS FLINT BEGIN. I really love how polarizing Flint is amongst them even now, this reaction series is gonna be good 😂
I was so pissed off with Flint after this xq loved Gates ;-; at least Jack cheers me up :P and the chills I get when the Man o War turns and opens all those cannon hatches and fires.. damn! RIP Jannes Eiselen, his last episode as Dufresne before passing away :(
Poor Eric. His man-crush was killed and broke Erics heart. I was pissed off too though. Gates was amazing. Will miss him. However, that stupid letter from the woman was a concoction by her to try and get forgiveness for Flint by England - she lied and said he was going to betray his crew so that he looked loyal to england. They are taking her desperation to go back to civilized society as truth. He really wants to get this treasure to set up all his crew with land & homes so that they can stop pirating if they want, or always have a home. His motivations were honorable but he is being forced into desperate acts to make it come true. :(
Shane, during the storm, about Dufresne: "He looks so badass now" Also Shane, before the man o' war fight, about Dufresne: "That fucking fat nerd" Lmao. I felt the same way, man.
Flint is the type of character that you hate to love. He pisses you off, but somehow you still enjoy him. He's like Little Finger, but even better. A more badass version of him.
SpriteQc And LF motives are more for personal benefit... Flint is the definition of the anti-hero... LF is an interesting but more villainous character...
You guys have been bitten by the Black Sails bug, you're all super into it, it's great. This reaction series is going to be one of your best yet. You all have different viewpoints that leads to great discussion, you're interested in pretty much all of the characters which shows how well written and acted it is and you're entirely unprepared for how hype it gets. Shame Calvin wasn't here.
Black Sails didn't get enough attention when it aired. I think the first season turned some away because it was a lot more narrative/character development driven than people expected from a pirate show. That being said, the "slow" pacing of season one and the character development is paid off ten fold by the series end and each season after the first continually bests the previous.
First, no one should have been going through the captain's private letters; Second, your quartermaster, while there for the good of the crew, should never, ever, give information out like that... He didn't know what the letter was about and he and Billy were fighting, it's not like it was like they were up on the mast and he threw him off. I loved Gates character but hey, you don't do that.
(spoilers for season 2) one of the things that you notice when you rewatch the show is that Gate's words (basically 'you can run, go somewhere with Barlow and I'll make sure you're not killed for your crimes') are later mirrored by Hennesey's words, who also gives James the chance to run and not be killed for his 'crimes', I always thought that this was what pushed Flint to kill Gates, this remainder of why he's fighting and why he's willing to do absolutely horrific things to get his revange
I actually think Aaron sees the most logic (other than Rick) out of the crew. Eric was frustrated about Flint killing Gates. Aaron gets some flack because he plays devil’s advocate sometimes.
(kinda spoilers) Man... I just got reminded that Dufresne changes actor in season 2, so I looked up why. Turns out the actor (Jannes Eiselen) was diagnosed with brain cancer after this season and died two years later (2016) just after he turned 36. R.I.P. Jannes Eiselen, I really enjoyed your acting in season 1, you would have gotten far :'(
For me season 2 was the best of Black Sails there were some awesome episodes after but season 2 for me was the best where each episode build on to each other.
Just started watching this for the first time and decided to come and watch the old reaction since the new one will take a bit to come out. Really enjoying the show and the reaction, but I gotta say coming back, I don't miss shane in videos anymore. I feel the the discussions are much more focused and there's less bickering between everyone. Granted, this was 6 years ago and the whole crew is different and they're even more used to reactions and discussions now but still.
i'm glad you guys are enjoying the show, this is easily the weakest season (still good of course), but season 2 to 4 are straight up some of the best tv in years
I hates that Flint killed gates but gates said that he was going to hang Flint. The way I see it it's either I kill my best friend or my best friend kills me. It's a very difficult decision but he killed gates for not only his life but also to achieve his dream and get the gold. I think you guys forgot that gates would have hung Flint which is a huge part in why he had to kill gates. Also some future stuff make even more sense why he killed gates.
You guys should check out Strike Back & Banshee on Cinemax. Banshee finished its 4 season run last yr and Strike Back returned for its 6th season with an all-new cast. Their both action shows(read the series synopsis for a better understanding of overall plot details than I can explain to someone who hasn't seen the show(s) ). With Strike Back don't skip the 6 or 8 episode prequel series starring Richard Armitage ,Andrew Lincoln and Toby Stephens that aired in between seasons 4 & 5
COWBOY BEBOP !!! Maybe they already watched it like some pointed to, that wold make that comment (and a lot of others) useless but it's not confirmed so... COWBOY BEBOP !!!!!
Flint lies to everyone because he thinks nearly everyone else is beneath his honesty. They aren't people to him, just tools. Only a couple of characters in the show ever grow to be more than that to him. I always found that aspect of him really annoying to watch. I don't hate the character, but I definitely watched more for Jack, Max, Anne, and Vane.
Flint killed a honorable and a great friend that was going to help him even after ALL He did out of pure sellfish ambision, He wasnt saving himself or someone, ONLY his pride
Eric has a weirdly homoerotic love for gates, dude legit looked like he was gonna cry over him dying lol Eric always automatically takes the side of any fat character without question lol
Flint is still my fave even after this episode. WASH ME IN YOUR JUDGEMENT
Trying to imagine a woman screaming “WASH ME IN YOUR JUDGMENT”
This is why the crew of BlindWave is the best. They get so invested in the story and characters.
Guys, I don't wanna overhype anything, but the show really doesn't drop in quality from here on out. Welcome to BLACK SAILS!
LET THE TRUE LOVE HATE FEELING TOWARDS FLINT BEGIN.
I really love how polarizing Flint is amongst them even now, this reaction series is gonna be good 😂

Gates said he'd already setup a getaway for Flint but anyway.. I'm not saying what he did wasn't understandable.. I just liked Gates so was mad xq
God damn I didn't know he passed away, that's so fuckin sad :/ RIP
The actor died?! 😟
@@blainevanity6 Yes, he was diagnosed with brain cancer shortly after the first season.
They are so into it. I love it!
Melissa K. Our names are the same lol .
Youre dismissed! Thank ya for ya service!
Love the way Jack says that lmao
Poor Eric. His man-crush was killed and broke Erics heart. I was pissed off too though. Gates was amazing. Will miss him. Can't wait to hear the discussions next season when everything you think you know gets turned on its head.
Shane, during the storm, about Dufresne: "He looks so badass now"
Also Shane, before the man o' war fight, about Dufresne: "That fucking fat nerd"
Lmao. I felt the same way, man.

the discussion around this episode was so fucking good!! I love this show so much I knew the reactions would be amazing

True, I stopped watching after the 5th ep then started watching again after a year or so boy, am I glad I went back to watch it.
Remember the fuck tent? That’s why he can’t do full disclosure. They would want to spend all the money on short term goals.
LUFFY IS GOING TO BE KING OF THE PIRATES!
Maxblind20 Yeah, theres WAY too many episodes
You guys are so not ready for what's to come, it's amazing
Everyone was sleeping on this show. I watched the whole series in a month last year. So freaking good.
Ryne Reacts I wasn't. A small group of friends were right into it, but most people we knew didn't care because it wasn't GoT. Simple as that.
Now that the set-up is complete, season 2 is going to completely kick your ass. You haven't seen anything yet, believe us.
Eric asks all the right questions. I can't wait for you to get more answers to see how you feel then.
eric is so smart.. hes the only one who suspects flints ulterior motives
And Aaron so sweetly naive, he needs to a bit more time scrubbing the deck and eating stale bread :)
They all know Flint is doing this for himself, but their disagreement about Flint is based on whether or not Flint had a choice in killing Gates
It’s Monday, and you know what time is it... it’s Black Sails and Agents of Shield day! “best day ever!”
Such a great episode
I’ve been waiting for this episode since several of you named Gates your favorite character :)
Shane and Aaron are on my side🙌🏻
#teamFlint
The show goes full bananas in the next two seasons. Can’t wait for you guys to watch.
Billy went home and is living happily in Horn Hill
Even after this , Flint is a favorite of mine 100%
Guy in the blue shirt is one the right track
Just started watching this for the first time and decided to come and watch the old reaction since the new one will take a bit to come out. i'm glad you guys are enjoying the show, this is easily the weakest season (still good of course), but season 2 to 4 are straight up some of the best tv in years
Alright, the correct but not that amazing season 1 is done.
Now onto the perfect stuff !
I hates that Flint killed gates but gates said that he was going to hang Flint. The way I see it it's either I kill my best friend or my best friend kills me. It's a very difficult decision but he killed gates for not only his life but also to achieve his dream and get the gold. His name is Dufresne but it's pronounced doofrain. The S is silent. Also he was recast cause the original actor died.
You guys should check out Strike Back & Banshee on Cinemax. Banshee finished its 4 season run last yr and Strike Back returned for its 6th season with an all-new cast. Crowned Prince These three shows were the reason why I always thought GoT was overhyped. Top quality TV.
I will never get sick of the intro
Flint is all about the greater good.
its just gonna get better :D i wish i could rewatch this for the first time again!
5:53 I hate to see Eric so heartbroken.
Flint is the greatest of them all!
And here we go. Flint: King of Poor Life Decisions.
Black Sails: Poor Life Decisions - the show.
oh shit, didn't even realize Calvin wasn't there until they mentioned it at the end of the reaction haha
30 mins + discussion, I love it
Pls watch Black Mirror or Fargo its really worth it
Flint is literally a fuck but he’s such an interesting character for that reason LOL
5:54 their faces say it all
RIP Gates. can't blame Flint tho he had no choice
RIP Gates. At least Flint felt bad about it and will live with it.
That ship was not the Ranger. It was the man of war. During the battle you could see it heavily damaging both pirate ships simultaneously.
It would be so scary to see a Man o War ship like that opening fire, and if we're on the boat that's being the target.
By the way, the Jolly Rodger you have hanging behind you is Jack rackham's real life flag
you ain't seen nothing yet guys, get ready for season 2!
COWBOY BEBOP !!! Maybe they already watched it like some pointed to, that wold make that comment (and a lot of others) useless but it's not confirmed so... COWBOY BEBOP !!!!!
Will you dudes check out Peaky Blinders? Its a top Show in my opinion
By order of the Peaky fucking blinders!
That's the Man o'war, not the Ranger.
flint said... queen... lol
Noooooo flint says it to billy so clearly *I am your king *
There is a motivation and stuff you don't know. He is not doing any of this for the men
Lol, Shane and Aaron have an opinion on Flint that I have never seen with this show. I have no idea how they still believe in him.
Chris Cerullo I was totally cheering Flint too... favorite character in all of tv!
Chris Cerullo After watching all 4 seasons he's still my favorite character! Season 2 really made me feel for Flint with the flashbacks.
Chris Cerullo I had that opinion, I'm just starting season 2 so I still do.
Would be cool seeing you guys out on the sea in Sea of Thieves
Obviously Billy Bones isn't dead since he is in treasure island
React to The Terror!
Team Flint.
Haha I root for Flint
Are British actors really saying Cregg? What the fuck? Its CRAIG!
Flint lies to everyone because he thinks nearly everyone else is beneath his honesty. They aren't people to him, just tools. Only a couple of characters in the show ever grow to be more than that to him. I always found that aspect of him really annoying to watch. I don't hate the character, but I definitely watched more for Jack, Max, Anne, and Vane.
please react to peaky blinders
Flint killed a honorable and a great friend that was going to help him even after ALL He did out of pure sellfish ambision, He wasnt saving himself or someone, ONLY his pride
The One Piece
❤🧡💛💚💙💜
Please continue the black sails series
He's doing it all for himself not the crew. Don't give him more credit than is necessary
Sorry Calvin, but I genuinely did not notice you were missing.
Watch this at 2x speed trust u won't regret it
Just a nitpick - can we please call a ship a ship and not a boat?
Eric has a weirdly homoerotic love for gates, dude legit looked like he was gonna cry over him dying lol Eric always automatically takes the side of any fat character without question lol
