stick a handful of rocks, the smooth river rocks you can get at the dollar store work well, and put it in the black bin before putting the white one in, it will allow for more air flow and won't let the soil/roots steeping their feetsies in water. Good job, it's a beautiful plant.
you are now the super star of youtube on propogating watercress! :-) i have never tried it but if i ever do and don't like it i would still definitely grow it because i find the leaves are interesting to look at!! thanks for sharing this as i see in the comment section you have probably encouraged a lot of us to try it :-)👍
P. C. Oh P.C you are gold! Thank you so so much for your kind comments! Yes I really do wish everyone tries it, our gardening community is amazing at inspiring me to try new things, so it will be an honor to see that I inspired at least one person. 😁
Thanks for the excellent video. I will be growing all my plants ( watercress and others ) in my indoor basement garden in various containers ( mainly standard 1020 seedling flats and/ or Solo cops using the double cup method or in Mason jars using the Kratky System ) to escape temperature/weather fluctuations. The temperature in my basement is 70 to 75 Deg F throughout the year ( humidity 65% ) and I have plenty of window light in the basement which I will also supplement with LED grow lights where needed. I suggest that growing indoors would be a good way to escape temperature/weather fluctuations providing you can ensure that the plants get enough light.
Watercress? Interesting. My bride uses some watercress in recipes. Will watch how these grow and I may have to try this. Thanks. I have a brother that lives in Santa Barbara, Calif.Blessings.
Jim's In Town Gardening yes give it a try, once you get one seed to sprout you will have watercress galore lol. Oh cool Santa Barbara is not far from me. 😊
I love Watercress, but I find it does not grow so well in the hot summer where I live, so I always grow winter and spring. I am sure many people will benefit from your video. Warm regards Marty Ware (MartysGarden)
martysgarden oh I am so scared about it dying in summer, it gets ridiculously hot here. Hopefully before it dies it will give me seeds, so that I can plant it in fall again 😊
I am sure it will give you seeds, mine always have. But, I usually just buy the plants from a store and strike cuttings in water each spring. I will save seeds too next time.

Well done Zule. I have heard of watercress but never tried it. Looks like you could use a tripod. I sometimes use a selfie stick put in a roll of paper towels. Best wishes Bob.
North of Pontchartrain lol yes I have been thinking of getting a one. I say if you can, try growing it, I bet you would have way better success than I did. Your a gardening guru 😊
I just cut my watercrest and stuck it in soil. I don't put the pot in water. Just a normal pot with drain holes but I did water them daily. They grew very healthy.
Really cool! That watercress is almost fail-proof since you started off with rooted cuttings. I'm sure they will be overflowing from the container before long.
Your parent w.c. plant is looking strong! Good propagation tips. I tried growing some from seed in my "pond" but they never took. Might have been too cold when I started.
Never Enough Dirt I tried to grow it in water directly but it rotted and died, although I have heard they do well in water I have found from my experience they need moist dirt , not soggy though. I grew mine from seed in November i believe 😊
Really nice vid! Just have a few questions for you: 1. Does this method work with garden cress? 2. When you planted the cuttings in the soil, did they have roots already? Thx
Darryl Chen thank you so much for the kind comment. Unfortunately I am not familiar with garden cress. The cuttings I took did have baby roots, the plant automatically wants to propagate its self lol 😊
@@ltlbnsgardentbh I think they are air roots the plant grows it's air roots on it's stem because in nature the reg roots are in water so can't get oxygen as well so the plant improvise by growing it's air roots up out of the water

Suzanne Fernandes hi thank you for leaving a comment. I just saw it a year later I am so sorry for the delay. I have subbed your channel 😉

what do you mean don't fill the black tub up with water because the roots may rot? watercress goes freely in creeks, ponds etc
Daryl Clare when I have filled the tub with water the plants don’t thrive. But if water works for you then go for it.
