Finally! Someone answers a question that I have been looking for the answer to for months! My trees seem to bloom out of nowhere at this time of year and I am busy working and don’t realize it until I just look up one weekend and I have blooms on them. Mine are in danger of getting cut down by the power company. If I don’t keep them trimmed down.I want to trim them now to help them out to keep from getting cut down in the future. I can’t thank you enough for finally answering this question. Have a wonderful day!😊
Thanks! I love how you keep your videos short. I was going to watch later but saw it wasn't long. So I watched it now . We live in NW GA and I've got budding everywhere and didn't get to prune this year due to Uber busy winter and what not. Looks like it's going to freeze hard again this week, ooh rah.
Yes, we are going to have a classic round of late freezes, but the abnormally warm February has trees a few weeks ahead. There is going to be damage, unfortunately.
The secret to gardening is that we're always learning. It doesn't matter if you've been doing this for 2 years or 32 years. Every year, things catch you off-guard. It's humbling and amazing.
I just finished pruning my rhododendron --not really the time of year for it, but it had some leftover dead branches from the 2020 ice storm + extra hot summer. I've been pruning it little by little as it was really full when the weather did it's number. It's kind of Charlie Brown right now but hopefully will fill out again someday! Plum tree is next if the county doesn't take it out when they do their road widening project.
We have done the apple and pears but was told with the plum to wait as it’s due to bud/ it did last year early. So gonna wait and then as the tree looks like it’s never been touched, once’s it’s done it’s stuff this year, then we will cut it back semi major and then give it a long time to recover… that’s the plan.
I would still cut it now before it buds. Establishing the form when they're as young as possible is best, even if it costs you some fruit production in the near-term. The larger a tree gets before you establish its form, the harder it will be on the tree and the grower, and the less attractive it'll be from the size difference of the old wood vs the new wood.
My blackberries are really showing signs of new growth. When should I prune the floricans and laterals? Can you do a video on this? Or do you have a video on this subject? Thanks 😊 🙏 Zone 7B Tell Dale I said HI! 🐕
My blackberries are primocane producers, so I simply cut them back in fall since the fruit is on the new year's growth. I would prune them as soon as possible if they're starting to budge, but since you have floricane producers, you'll have to be a little more strategic with your pruning.
Yeah hi can you please when you explain in Rabat when to prove you’re free instead of saying right now explain when is right now which month cause when I’m watching your video I cannot tell when is right now. Thank you.
@@2MinuteGardenTips All I know is it had new branches and leaves. After pruning, by the next day, the other branches were drooping and eventually died off. I left it planted but that was two springs ago. No signs of life since. Was hoping it was just shock
@Ally The next question would be how clean were your tools? When pruning, you have to clean between trees/shrubs etc to prevent sharing problems and some plants are toxic to others
@Ally Oh yeah. There is!😄 Timing on some things is important too. I killed 2 limbs on an oak by using a chainsaw blade that had cut several different shrubs and trees without cleaning the blade in between. 3 rules of thumb I've learned over the years when pruning 1. Late winter/early spring when dormant 2. Only in months that have "R" 3. Between a full moon and new moon (waning), plants stress less as the sap is down some. They don't bleed as much. Some shrubs like lilacs need pruning after flowering as they spend the rest of summer forming new flower buds.

I truly enjoyed. Also, how you got straight to the point and delivered perfect information. That means a lot to me too. Thank you so much.

I started rooting a bunch of fig cuttings after watching your channel, this is great information as I’m new to fruit trees
Outstanding!! Congratulations. It can become addicting in the best way.
Great, as alway! Thanks so much.
You’re welcome!
Yes, EVERYTHING is blooming now in georgia. I'll remember to prune next year. I'm still learning to garden.

Late freezes are coming all over the east this week. The next three nights are going to be brutal. A lot of cold damage will ensue, unfortunately.

@@2MinuteGardenTips ok will trim asap. Think we should still cat hard back? Some branches are over 3ft long and more I’d say.

I pruned my 2 yo apple tree in the spring. ...and it DIED🤬
Pruning will not kill a tree. What caused the death? Was it too cold outside? Was it attacked by a pest?

@@tesswagner895 thank you for insight.....I didn't realize that. Trees are new for me. There's a lot to learn!
