It's so terrible. As a parent, I hate that our schools are only teaching this way of doing math. My kid is in third grade and still using their fingers to count.
I am teaching illustrative for the first time this year, and I'm trying to figure out how I want to organize and keep track of who goes where. I am in K, so this is essential for sure LOL
They don't get to choose centers. And I don't do the center games everyday. We do them about twice a month maybe. In 3rd grade and up it is not imbedded into the lessons. I do let them play the centers at other times though for fun or if a need arrises for extra practice on the skills being taught in the lesson.
This was so helpful 😊My district, Jefferson Parish Schools is implementing Illustrative Mathematics for Grade 3 this year.
Thanks for the feedback!

Do you have all the lessons recorded?
I don't have any lessons recorded. Yet.
Do you have student chose where they want to go or do you have a pocket chart/slide that shows their centers for the day?
