Good video. Fame is a strange thing, a former film, theatre actor and playwright of note, Matheson Lang lies in Tomnahurich - his grave pretty well forgotten. You can find clips of his films and see him speaking on 'youtube'. From the silent era to the 1940's he was pretty famous, but now people would say "who?" He was born in Canada, his father was a Revd. who came to Inverness. Matheson was part educated and began his acting career in Inverness, and after he died his remains came all the way from Barbados to be buried in Tomnahurich. Many of my relatives and ancestors lie there, but finding graves in the cemetery is really difficult.
Thank you for sharing that information. I will certainly take a look on RUclips for him, very interesting indeed. The Cemetery covers a large expanse and some of the graves are inaccessible now unfortunately. I could have easily spent a full day there looking at all the history. Thank you for watching.
My great grandfathers grave is on top of Tomnahurich hill. He was an auctioneer in the 1800s. His name was George Hamilton. Other members of my family are also buried there. There is a street beside M&S called Hamilton street which is named after him and the family business of Hamiltons auctions which used to stand where Morrisons supermarket is now.
@@Brummie-In-The-Highlands unfortunately not. I moved to Salisbury in June 2014 then to West Yorkshire in 2015. My last job was as a citylink driver based in Skye doing the Inverness run 5 times a week from July to December 2019. I wanted to move back to Inverness but couldn’t find suitable accommodation. So I’m stuck in Yorkshire now. I retired in 2020. I miss Inverness so much. Wish there was a way to return but my circumstances won’t allow it. You’re very lucky to live there. Best wishes.
Accommodation here is at premium, prices are very high because of lack of stock unfortunately. I worked at Stagecoach Inverness briefly during 2010/2011, our paths may have crossed?
@@Brummie-In-The-Highlands I lived in Skye from 2008 to 2010 then moved to York. I lived in Kinmylies from 2012 till 2014 but I was a taxi driver then. I worked briefly for D&E coaches and Highland Experience tours before moving to Salisbury.
What a fascinating place and a lovely watch on this cold Sunday Morning thanks 🙏
It certainly is fascinating, I could have easily spent more time up there. Lots of history. Thank you for watching.
Beautiful view from the top!
I wish I could have spent more time up there, lots of history. Thank you for watching.

I also worked at D&E, which is a coincidence, your name certainly rings a bell.

I'm sorry I can't help you with that one. I had a quick look on Google, there is a Paul Brady from the Indians, he is still alive I believe.
