Stunning views of Dunnottar Castle - Aberdeenshire.
I take a walk to Dunnottar Castle near Stonehaven in Aberdeenshire.
The Castle sits on top of a rock in the North Sea.
A steep walk down the steps to the bay, and I go into the sea cave under the Castle.
The Castle is open to the public, and access is via the steep steps.

Stonehaven - After the storms!!
Просмотров 141Месяц назад
I revisit Stonehaven in Aberdeenshire April 2024. There have been a few storms which have caused destruction to Stonehaven bay. The new board walk decking was washed away, and rocks and pebbles have been washed up onto the shore in massive quantities. Credit to all the local people and tradesmen who have worked tirelessly to restore some normality to this beautiful bay. #sea #storm #scotland #t...
A red castle at Redcastle!

I visit the small shore side village of Milton of Redcastle on the Black Isle, Highlands of Scotland. There is a ruin of a castle dating back to 1179. The castle is built in red sandstone, which gives it its red appearance. Stonehaven Fireball festival on Hogmanay. The annual celebration to welcome in the new year. A festival with approximately 150 year history. Burning Fireballs are swung around for twenty minutes up and down the High Street where they are eventually thrown into Stonehaven Harbour. It is said to clear out any bad spirits or bad luck from the old year, and give a clean start to the New year. This ...

It was Manager, Donald Coleman who invented the Dugout in 1934. He was a great tactician, and in many ways, ahead of his time. He practised possession football, and wanted to have a closer look at his players footwork, and so devised the dugout, so he could sit at pitch level and get a better view of the game. Up until that time, Managers either sat in the stand, or on a simple bench at the side of the pitch.

In 1983 I wandered around this very spot. Years later I told my kids spooky stories about hearing voices from that hole in the ground (8 min). They still remember it. My wee Grannie was from Cromarty, Isobelle Finlayson (hence my visit). The graveyard looks the same! Mike, in Toronto Canada

We used to come to Avoch twice a year for holidays back in the 1970s when I was a small child. It’s lovely to see it hasn’t changed too much in the last 50 years, although that community garden used to be the location of a petrol station back in the 70s, before being transformed into a small cafe. The large whitewashed building with the steps up to the 1st floor on the outside, opposite the entrance to the harbour, used to be the Ship’s Chandlers, which was full of everything the local fishermen needed, when Avoch had a thriving fishing fleet. In fact, that house on Shore Street at the bottom of James Street - with the whitewashed wall facing the seas - was our house. Thanks for bringing back some awesome childhood memories mate 👌

We’ll be staying a few houses up from our original house on the sea front and will return our parent’s ashes to the place that meant so much to all of us, with so many happy family memories… Your video reminded me of how much we all loved our time in Avoch, so thank you mate 🙏

We're looking at grabbing a bite to eat at either Coyote Burger or possibly a place called Comfort Foods on Church Street when we're passing through Inverness in a few weeks. The Highlander bar on Queen Street is supposed to be good, and they do play live traditional music. Gellions bar is good on the High Street, but can get very busy in the evenings. I guess you will get the feel of places when you are wandering about.
