Interesting.. I'm new to this though actually had to look that up.. I find it interesting cause I didn't realize to get multiples of a dit or dah you just held it.. I thought you did more like a straight key kind of thing.. Which seems to be exactly what you mentioned.. So what's the advantages and disadvantages of doing a cootie key? .. I'm all ways willing to learn
You should use it as a Cootie key. Looking good.

Folks use a feeler gauge or an old saw blade to flex a little better too.
