    I found Lee Drutman's interview was very interesting, his analysis was informative.
    Made the insanity of the USA two party system understandable, it needs to change.

      how change though, there system not setup for that with gerrymandering and supermajority locking the numbers in at around 50/50. Would need to be something that really shocks the system. Otherwise status quo remains. History shows the shock is war and suffering.

    There is only polarisation within the Republican party. The Democrats are united.

  • @richardcaves3601
    @richardcaves3601 Год назад +3

    I think these two have missed a large part of the big picture in American politics. Both main parties in the USA have factions: the Dems have the progressives and liberals, while the Repubs have the conservatives and popularists. Currently the animosity between the Dem factions is muted because Biden has bridged the gap. The Trump faction in the Repubs was part of the Christian popularist that shunted the conservatives aside. What we're seeing now is the death throws of that faction, as their fearless leader heads towards prison and gets banned from the ballot papers. The conservative faction is quietly rebuilding, lacking only a viable leader to finish the other faction off. After the first criminal conviction and first successful disqualification happens, the GOP conversation will belatedly choose a conservative leader. The eventual outcome will be a huge rout of the Republicans, who will lose their majorities in both houses and the majority of the governorships. Americans are sick and tired of being the laughing stock of the world.

      Colorado just found trump guilty of involvement in the J6 insurrection. Being found guilty of violating Amendment 14 section 3 of the Constitution, is the only way to stop trump from running in 2024. Yet the judge is still allowing him to run, after finding him guilty! How does that add up?

    I'm not sure if there has ever been a better time to be a third party candidate in the US. It will be interesting to see if Mitt is now seen in better light now more people have seen through Trump.

    This was a great episode. I just wish Chaz would move to a behind the scenes role. He might be a good data guy (?) but adds cringe every time. Australian TV doesn’t need to be slapstick or goofy to get noticed. Is it an ego thing? Let’s get a smart female co-host next to John. Time to leave 2nd best for the sake of bloke-ism behind. A stronger hosting team would really elevate this show to the 21st century. The data is good but the cringe lets the show down.

    When FB first launched, you could only have an account if you were a student/staff at an American university, and your account name would be the same as the name your Uni email address.
    They didn’t ask for ID, they used that the University already checked people’s ID.
    I wonder if Haley had an account back then. And thinks the lack of ID/verification is why FB has turned feral.

    US atm makes politics here in [downtown] Canberra seem kinda based & half-sane.
    The US are setting the bar FAR too low ffs, we have our own ACT Council elections in 2024! ;-)
    _Can we remind Nikki Haley that holding the 2nd best poker hand is not a great outcome?_
