I started my channel in Feb 2024 and I'm having an absolute blast with it! Interacting with comments, experimenting, and gradually improving with each bit of content I publish. The growth is steady; just how I prefer it honestly. Still in the learning stages of course, however beyond motivated to keep going. Never giving up and for everyone else starting out, keep on doing the same gamer!
I really enjoy the learning process. Like learning how to use the programs. I use opensource stuff like Openshot and GIMP for graphics and video editing. Not a pro, but its been fun
I created a gaming channel end of last year. At first it was a bit scary / intimidating however I wanted to improve my editing skills and have footage of my favorite games available to watch anytime... I ended up enjoying the whole editing side and now trying to make gaming videos in TV show style format with intros and recaps.... not there yet but I am always open for criticism if it will improve my content :)
I support your grind sir! I am also a small gaming channel who's trying to improve on my editing skills and creative content. I checked out your videos and it's solid work so far, keep grinding and I'll recommend you on the gaming feed. You got a sub from me as well!! 😎
I’d change one thing. Post 1-3 videos a month so you can actually learn about filming, editing, etc. It can help you from becoming overwhelmed and allow you the time to improve each video by 1% -you won’t feel rushed to get videos out each week. This is my goal because I work full time as a teacher and making multiple videos every week is not practical for me to make better videos

That's how I started 9 years ago I was used my ps4 to edit and record my gameplays but eventually I got a capture card and editing software and it boosted my stats fairly well. But it's still a process and growing as a gaming content creator is challenging but rewarding. You get a small build of community which will eventually grow !
How you been doing this for 9 years and have less than 3K subs but are not worried about it never making much? Not to say you don't enjoy the process but gaming pays about $3 for every 1K views so many will be doing this as a hobby at most and the lucky ones will make about $90 a month with 50K views.....

Great vid Midnight man. Especially the part with 'just get started' is so true. You just forgot to mention that whatever you said for ps5 is also true for ps4. Also a good tip is visiting your Analytics section from time to time. I totally forgot about that for months, and doing that will let you see your own content more out of the eyes of your audience.
What got me started was coming across a channel i thought was silly, then remembering the channel about 5 years later seeing how much its changed and how good its gotten when i never even started
I started RUclips in 2020 and made 104 subs and my account got hacked, I’ve always wanted to entertain people because youtubers entertained and entertain me, so now I’m on this account and I’m working harder because of this video
love your videos Midnight. would you be able to do a (/or recommend an existing) video tutorial outlining the basics of video editing please. maybe not a specific software. just presenting the main considerations involved and how to begin getting started. I think the way you would explain it would be great. thanks
Thanks!! I needed the motivation even knowing everything what you said!!! Insecurities mess us most of the time!!! It would be years creating content but here I am without starting!!!
I've been on youtube for years, on different accounts of course, and it's not easy to get your channel out there, it takes a lot of work and dedication. nothing happens overnight, you gotta keep uploading every day if you can, because the more active you're...the more traffic there will be to your channel because people know that you actively upload, so keep that up and you will be there in no time! I am still trying to get there myself.
This is especially true for newer creators. Once you have a large body of work (preferably of decent well thought out video ideas) then you can ramp up the quality and slow the upload frequency if it aligns with your content. For some channels, continuing to upload multiple times a week will still be better off for faster growth as long as the videos are good and decently edited.
I just recently started this channel and I’ve gone a different route as you suggested; basically upgraded all my recording equipment, bought channel art, etc. right off the bat. My channel is slowly growing, I knew the first video I was going to make would help initially grow a small audience, but I’ve had a lot of fun either way!
Your videos have really helped me get the confidence to just start posting. Very early days but did a lot of work to know how to capture and edit gameplay first. Excited to keep it going!
Great video, but i disagree with the quantity over quality. RUclips favors quality a lot because quality content retains viewers attention more. I also disagree with the quality over quantity advice a lot of people give to. Its like the old saying "work smarter not harder". You should work smarter AND harder. Quality AND quantity. Obviously your not a robot and you cant put out insane quality videos every single day. Over time youll get better at making video ideas, thumbnails, recording, and editing and youll be able to make quality content more efficiently.
I’ve started streaming since I just bought a Xbox and I’ve just been streaming and then exporting the videos to RUclips and making shorts to get some people to see my gameplay! I’ve really just wanted to basically document my gameplay and experiences but having people follow along will be cool!
The first tip is key, i waited 2 years before starting my channel.... you gotta jump in. My only advice, what ever you do, have fun doing it. It translates in the video, big time. As for subscribers: it's a marathon not a sprint!
I am an Indian boy, I am 19 years old and my father is working as a cement guard. We are very old, I have kept some pocket money with me, 9,500 rupees to buy an iPhone. Give me an iPhone that doesn't take money.
You don't need an iPhone to create gaming content bro Use AI tools for enhanced performance for RUclips Use that money for cloud gaming (cloud gaming is very very helpful) cloud gaming will provide you PlayStation games on mobile If you keep making passionate videos after one point your channel definitely will grow
I stated a channel about a month ago and had no idea where do begin or what content to put out. Thanks to these videos I was able to get started confidently and I'm loving every bit of it. The art with editing and thumbnails its very exciting. Good looking out for the RUclips community - This is very helpful, appreciate the videos MidnightMan and thank you.
You were exactly how I was when I started. I found the joy and excitement when making videos. A tip I have for you is to not "do it alone". Have a bit of help from friends who also share your passion. I look forward to see what you can do in the future!
Wanted to give up as I wasn’t seeing any progression was stuck on 100 subs for a while I put my head down and started grinding now I’m seeing progress daily
I started about a month ago and honestly, I noticed slow to no growth for a couple weeks. I don’t talk much on clips but editing and having wholesome moments have brought me a decent start up following, also learned everyone has a niche and it’s up to you to find it. Shorts has definitely helped !
I do all kinds of games and love it! From Mega Man to Dark Souls to Warhammer to Fortnite. I’ve been a gamer for over 30 years and I love playing a big variety of types of games. I don’t ever expect to become famous or have millions of subs, I just enjoy sharing gameplay videos and streams and connecting with fellow gamers.
Gaming has been a large part of my life since I was a little kid. I’d wanted to make a RUclips for a few years but always pushed it off for fear of rejection. Glad I started, process hasn’t been easy or fast, but I’ve learned something every day and having a blast.
just found your channel and as someone growing a small gaming channel rn your videos have helped me so much. I have so many notes on how to make my videos better. THANKS SOOOOO MUCH!!!
I started putting out content 2.5 months ago. I'm really humbled by the experience and my channels overall growth. Best thing I can say is dont spend too much time trying to think of a masterpiece or viral video, or spend too much time editing if you're new. Dont try to make the perfect video. Dont try to be perfect. Your imperfections is what makes you perfect. Just put something out and be yourself. Just DO it and success will come. Wishing everyone the best in their journeys.
Me and my friend just started ours. The biggest problem for us was seeing the views and getting discouraged but after this and some more recent posts we are lore optimistic!!
This video has been very helpful to me to understand derstand that some of our very first few videos our early journey of game streamer/ content creator would not make a positive impact. Yet still have stay encouraged and keep pressing into making more new content ❤❤
I’ve never been focused on playing “current” or “popular” games just to build a subscriber base. However, I’ve ALWAYS been focused on having fun with my content. I always try different things like being off camera, so the game can be clearly seen, or being on screen and showcasing my personality, or being completely silent in some videos and letting the video game speak for itself. Or even a “How to”, and I kid you not, the kind of videos I wouldn’t expect to do well ended up being my most viewed - but shoddily edited - videos. Different things work for different audiences. But I will ALWAYS try to have fun with whatever I’m playing.
Yes RUclips analytics and algorithms are definitely different than such as TikTok, RUclips is something I am still getting use to but we gain more every week but it is really a serious grind.
Hey man thanks a lot, I started my gaming channel week back and I was struggling in my mind. But after seeing this video you showed me that I'm on the right track. This was so helpful like a personal counseling. ✌️
Just posted my first video for my gaming channel. Definitely lots of engagement from people and plenty of room to grow. 2024 is a good year for gaming!!
Thank you for walking through what you would do. I'm in the very early stages of looking into creating a gaming channel, and it's nice to hear some pointers.
When I first start my channel, it was a little bit of game trailer and put some movie. It was pretty good but after my movie is dead I started to do gaming and now I don't know where to go so I watched this video to learn more. In other RUclipsr so now I am watching your video to help me thank you
My biggest piece of advice is if you are only interested in it for the money…find a way to love and enjoy it…if you’re only in it for money you’re gonna quit and give up. Guarantee it. If it’s not something you love you will lose the drive in the goal in mind which is profit unless you love what you’re doing to grind and make cash.
Awesome video and good tips! Thanks! I happened to start around the beginning of 2024 and it really is a grind. For me what I find helps is consistency and I always try to post everyday around 9:00am-10:00am or sometimes a bit earlier. (EST). I still haven’t had an actual video of mine “blow up” but a couple of my shorts have done quite well. (Although, everyone’s interpretation of a video “blowing up” is different)
As a new content creator, EXPERIMENT! This is your time to see what works, and what doesn’t for your intended audience. Once you start finding success in certain gaming videos, double down on that type of content to increase the speed of your growth.
Most importantly though, HAVE FUN!
i am trying hard from last 1 year hope one day I will achieve my goal

Also a good tip is visiting your Analytics section from time to time. I totally forgot about that for months, and doing that will let you see your own content more out of the eyes of your audience.
What got me started was coming across a channel i thought was silly, then remembering the channel about 5 years later seeing how much its changed and how good its gotten when i never even started
I started RUclips in 2020 and made 104 subs and my account got hacked, I’ve always wanted to entertain people because youtubers entertained and entertain me, so now I’m on this account and I’m working harder because of this video
Thanks for sharing, man! I'm a new RUclips gaming channel, and now I can see what I should be focusing on and what to improve. Thanks again!
Done Please 🖤💜
its going really badly for me but i aint giving up!
My channel was dead started watching you videos and i have made it up again ❤ Thanks alot
Love to hear it! ❤️
I started my channel during the inception of YT, I just started working and slacked off, Now i am just uploading GP.
love your videos Midnight. would you be able to do a (/or recommend an existing) video tutorial outlining the basics of video editing please. maybe not a specific software. just presenting the main considerations involved and how to begin getting started. I think the way you would explain it would be great. thanks
I’ll add this to my ideas list! Thanks for this suggestion
Thanks!! I needed the motivation even knowing everything what you said!!! Insecurities mess us most of the time!!! It would be years creating content but here I am without starting!!!
Done Please 🖤🤍💜
All in all if you're passionate about entertaining just do it. It will never hurt to try something you love.
I really enjoy the RUclips community so much and how some show others so much love
Thanks for sharing these great tips man! It’s been tough to stay motivated but I’m energized to continue the grind 🙏🏾👍🏾
@@MidnightMan Perfectly well said! thank you, sir.
Started my gaming channel back in 2011, still upload til this day and haven’t even broke 150 subs 💀💀 Still have fun though

@@jalenmills3332 thanks so much 🙌🏽 I gotchu too!
Great content. I have just started a gaming channel, and this helped. All the best Jordan
Your videos have really helped me get the confidence to just start posting. Very early days but did a lot of work to know how to capture and edit gameplay first. Excited to keep it going!
I’ve been doing RUclips for about a year and this is still really helpful thank you. Still a lot of tips in this that I will keep in mind.
thats crazy a YEAR
@@chillian1360what’s wrong with that?

I want to thank you for this video it really helps me out a lot, I just started my RUclips channel today and this is the first step.thank you so much.
I’ve really just wanted to basically document my gameplay and experiences but having people follow along will be cool!
at 580 subs after 6 months of grinding, algorithm is questionable

The first tip is key, i waited 2 years before starting my channel.... you gotta jump in. My only advice, what ever you do, have fun doing it. It translates in the video, big time. As for subscribers: it's a marathon not a sprint!
I've just started mine! slowly began getting into the rhythm of editing etc and i love it!! hopefully overtime the channel can grow 😊😊
I am an Indian boy, I am 19 years old and my father is working as a cement guard. We are very old, I have kept some pocket money with me, 9,500 rupees to buy an iPhone. Give me an iPhone that doesn't take money.
You won't achieve your dreams if all you do is beg, dreams are meant to be achieved not given, so if I were you I'd start working hard right now.
You don't need an iPhone to create gaming content bro
Use AI tools for enhanced performance for RUclips
Use that money for cloud gaming (cloud gaming is very very helpful) cloud gaming will provide you PlayStation games on mobile
If you keep making passionate videos after one point your channel definitely will grow
@@arsevel thank you, only time will tell
Wanted to give up as I wasn’t seeing any progression was stuck on 100 subs for a while I put my head down and started grinding now I’m seeing progress daily
As long as you love what you are doing and you are happy with it keep doing it.. 😄
I started about a month ago and honestly, I noticed slow to no growth for a couple weeks. I don’t talk much on clips but editing and having wholesome moments have brought me a decent start up following, also learned everyone has a niche and it’s up to you to find it. Shorts has definitely helped !
REASRCH IS KEY 👍 & knowing half the battle 😎
Wishing everyone the best in their journeys.
thanks for the tip brother
Can you get a copyright strike for posting videos games?
@@Valeria.... nah
I also just started streaming and editing. Being a quiet person and introvert is really hard but I won't give up! Just keep grinding guys!
Started flight simulator a month ago i must say it’s going strong 🔥🙏🏽
Me and my friend just started ours. The biggest problem for us was seeing the views and getting discouraged but after this and some more recent posts we are lore optimistic!!
So what you’re saying is you never give up never back down
Just started my journey good luck everyone
Way much inspiration ❤️❤️
Big thank you🎉🎉
Started a few months ago and i can honestly say its videos like this that push me to be better and keep making gaming vids. Thanks for the hope!
Thanks for the advice! I started streaming on my channel but need to start creating shorter highlight videos as well.
Hey man thanks a lot, I started my gaming channel week back and I was struggling in my mind. But after seeing this video you showed me that I'm on the right track. This was so helpful like a personal counseling. ✌️
On 10 subscribers right now… this is the video we need!
Super helpful video! Time to start my journey.
The fortune is the journey 🔥🔥
Just posted my first video for my gaming channel. Definitely lots of engagement from people and plenty of room to grow. 2024 is a good year for gaming!!
Thank you for walking through what you would do. I'm in the very early stages of looking into creating a gaming channel, and it's nice to hear some pointers.
When I first start my channel, it was a little bit of game trailer and put some movie. It was pretty good but after my movie is dead I started to do gaming and now I don't know where to go so I watched this video to learn more. In other RUclipsr so now I am watching your video to help me thank you
I truly appreciate the advice and the words of encouragement. I definitely needed to hear this💯
My biggest piece of advice is if you are only interested in it for the money…find a way to love and enjoy it…if you’re only in it for money you’re gonna quit and give up. Guarantee it. If it’s not something you love you will lose the drive in the goal in mind which is profit unless you love what you’re doing to grind and make cash.
Let’s go, just started! Good luck to everyone!
