    I do miss when everyone was sitting at a table and you could see how much they liked being with others people who did the same job. I know zoom is not the same but maybe leave some pauses between the questions so they might respond to each other and connect more.

      I thought it was a shame too that there weren't any interactions between the actresses. I watched the Roundtable with Zendaya, Jen Aniston, Reese Witherspoon and some others and they did talk to each other. That was filmed recently during the Pandemic.

    One of the things I admire about Zendaya is how she's able to manage her anxiety. I notice she gets nervous and has anxiety in situations and interviews like these but she still seems to be so strong and doesn't let the anxiety stop her. As someone who has anxiety I difinitely would freeze on the spot and have an anxiety attack or all together just not join the zoom call, lmao, but I admire how Zendaya stays so strong throughout everything. It also inspires me to challenge my introvertness and anxiety as well. She's my biggest role model no joke.

    • @cheyennepredium9860
      @cheyennepredium9860 3 года назад +40

      Same here, she's my biggest role model. Thank you for this comment. There's a lot of people in this comment section trying to tear her down and only talk about her being nervous instead of the topics she discussed.

      @@cheyennepredium9860 of course no prob!. I don't often comment on any youtube video because I suck at forming sentences to convey my thoughts lmao, but I'm happy I could stand up for daya✨. Zendaya is right ! These big budget movies and movie studios 95% of the time will pick an actor that’s already well known because they will bring in revenue , they will rarely pick an unknown actor because they don’t have a huge following . Also guys Glen is from a different era , back then they made movies differently so she wouldn’t really understand what Zendaya’s trying to talk about .

      I think she got a lot better in the last half of the interview. I think she was genuinely impressed by all the women in this roundtable and it started to show more by the end.
      It's easy to say weird things sometimes, and that comment was a bit weird. But it's entirely possible the hint of defensiveness that came across was directed at the way the industry overpowers the art unless you protect it, or something more personal to Close, not at Zendaya, herself.

    For all of you talking about how nervous Zendaya is.. go watch the round table from August 2020 with Jeniffer Anniston and Reese Witherspoon. THAT was actually a conversation where all of the women were engaged and responding to each other. Unlike this interview where the moderator fired off questions without giving the women a chance to respond to each other. It definitely sets a sort of formal tone rather than the warm, welcoming environment that I saw in the August Round Table that would put people with anxiety (like Zendaya) at ease. Just an observation.

    This was weirdly cold and impersonal. There was very little interaction between the actresses, which I believe is the main draw of this series. Also a somewhat lighter tone would’ve been appreciated, while still addressing some of the pressing social issues and craft details they were asked about. Kate and Glenn (both of whom I admire as artists and as people) especially came across kinda... snobbish, lacking any kind of self deprecating humor or recognition of their privileged position.

    When the brain surgeon makes a slight mistake, people die or are disabled forever. When an actor makes a mistake, they don't get the role or they get a bad review. Glenn really needs some damn perspective. Anyone can study acting at any age, get better and maybe even book some small roles. He wasn't saying, "How do I become Anthony Hopkins in a month?"

      I get your point but also, I think that's not what prompted her strong reaction. It is ironic seeing how glenn and kate get hate by random people who don't know them for sharing a story or their opinion about something. Being an actor isn't as easy as people may think, this is what they were saying and it answers the interviewer's question. That's it.

    I do not understand how Glenn Close can be offended by that brain surgeon. He was coming from a vulnerable place. He’s miserable, he wants to switch jobs, he thinks maybe acting would be more of a fun-fulfilling path. Because it IS creative and beautiful and probably cathartic to perform, so of course? So many ordinary people daydream of an actor’s life. And if you live in LA, it’s really not that far fetched. Anyway, ppl can be actors and love acting without being high caliber THR Roundtable-level actors.

    Glenn Close and Zendaya have very different careers and backgrounds. Glenn started doing theater at age 27. Zendaya got into show business before she was a teenager (she's currently only 24 years old!). There's no way Glenn knows what it's like to have a career at such a young age and learn the business side of things that early (while also being a POC in a racist society). Glenn is obviously also a businesswoman (she owns multiple properties, has funded movie projects, owned businesses, etc.) so her trying to downplay that aspect of her career just comes off as shady and hypocritical.
