The original movie was based on the premise that everyone in the USSR lived in the similar buildings, similar apartments, filled with the similar state-produced items (it wasn't QUITE like that, but works for the purpose of the comedy).
I wonder how the same concept will be applied to the American standard cardboard houses.
A similar story happened to me in Trump Village apartment complex in Coney Island, Brooklyn, New York City, U.S. I stayed there at my relatives' apartment, and they lend me their keys. One evening I went back from Manhattan and picked the wrong building. For some reason, the lobby entrance door lock was identical. It was only after I took the elevator to the same floor and noticed another name on the same numbered apartment door when I realized my mistake.
And similar street names, of course! And it wasn't really exaggerated, because you can always find a street named after an important party figure or some communism/internationalism/worker/soviet history stuff in any soviet or even modern russian city.

As I heard the furniture issue will be solved through everyone is buying their stuff from Ikea nowadays.
This is actually a remake of a soviet cult classic 'irony of the fate', i recommend you to watch it. Plus, it seems like the only similar thing between the original and the remake is the reason why heroes met
I hope with your recommendation you mean the original classic and not any remake of it.

Why those modern trailers leave you with the feeling that you just watched the whole movie, with no desire to watch the fool movie, even though you seemed quite interested!? People should start making really shorter trailers leaving more questions etc. So that you won't have DEJAVU sense when you watch the whole movie.

I just watched this movie. Reminds me of the romcoms of the early 2000’s that I have been missing. It’s definitely been added to my list of heartwarmingly funny movies. I can see myself watching this at least once a year, around New Year’s Eve.

В данном случае и не пытались переснимать. Взяли лишь начало сюжета и развили отдельную историю. Хотя мне оригинал скучен и раздут... Вот "Служебный роман" переснимать 1в1 в стране оригинала - неприкрытый кризис идей и распил бюджета на культуру России.

The movie is nostalgic to watch since this is a remake of the Soviet New Year classic "The Irony of Fate" from 1976. Very cute and enjoyable.
It great to see how one of the greatest USSR's Christmas movie get a remake from a totally different culture
Well, as a guest in the cinema field and as a one who hasn't saw the original movie as people claim, i watched it. I like it, i love it. It's a mix between comedy, drama and romance. It's cute, sweet, has a big message to deliver, it did well and made my day.🙃❤️

I feel like this movie was already made years ago but here we go again.
Actually it was. The original movie is a soviet comedy "Irony of the Fate". It is very popular here in Russia, and on the New Year eve people regularly watch it. Although, judging by the trailer, "About Fate" will hardly get as much recognition

It’s still there, but very forced and cringey. The premise just doesn’t adapt well into modern day America.

i just watched this and LOVED it! It made me happy and they were such an adorable couple! So glad I saw it.
It is a remake of a classic that doesn't require a remake to begin with and directed by a director whose "comedies" receive constantly negative reviews (basically the russian version Seltzer and Friedberg in one person). Based on these facts and the trailer I highly doubt that this movie would be any good and will maybe land up as material for a BadComedian-review.

This is indeed a classic Namibian relationship experience.
It's interesting to observe how after almost 50 years since the original movie was released in the Soviet Union back in 1975, at last Hollywood has attempted to produce a remake. Even the names are similar - Irony of Fate (original movie) vs About Fate (remake).
Anyway, I'd suggest to everyone to watch the original movie, as it's more lyrical and interesting, so you can compare later.
