Why smart people buy used iPhone? Ans: because Apple charges way too much and after years when the price drops to half, that's the right price for it. Smart people indeed.
hello nick. I've been watching your videos for a while and you convinced me to buy old. I got into iPhones with a used 5s 16 gb which I eventually traded with my butcher for $50 worth of meat. She is still very happy with this phone. I then got a great deal at work for a new 6s 128gb which I eventually gave to my wife (she is a gamer and has no complaints) . I replaced that one with a 6s plus 128gb (my current phone). Last month I bought a iPhone 8 64gb ($200 Canadian) from a friend that needed a new phone for his work. This one will eventually become my wife iPhone. I'm on the lookout right now for a used iPhone 8plus 256gig to replace my 6s Plus. But I plan to keep my 6s Plus if it get the new iOS 14 and still works fine. as you see I'm rabbling on because I'm stuck at home due to this virus thing.
I bought my refurbished iPhone 6s in 2018 and I do not regret a single thing about it. It is also my first iPhone and I’m not planning on switching any time soon.
At current prices for used iPhones nowadays, it doesn’t make sense to buy a used iPhone anymore. The lack of the Apple warranty and wear and tear over years do not make up the minor savings you get.
People seem to just get bored with a perfectly usable phone. For some strange reason, they are really excited with a new phone for a few months, then just get bored with it. It's just a tool or appliance that you use for a specific number of tasks. That's all it does. And most folks only use about 10% of it's features, anyway. It's pretty sad. I am still using an iPhone 6 in 2020. It still handles phone calls, texts, email, RUclips, all my music. It may take a bit longer to open an app, but once it's open, it runs just fine.
I’ve always had used phones and been lucky all the time with the quality. I have an i7 used, changed rhe battery myself (20$) and an iPh SE for travel backup; got it for 30$ and changed the screen and battery for 20$.
When it comes to electrical stuff, it’s best to purchase a brand new unless it’s vehicle. For a cell phones , just buy a midrange cell phone or low end. You never know whom you are buying from . Mid range cell phones have everything you need. To be honest , you don’t really use some of the distinguishing features of the highend phones . And when you buy a brand new you can sale it faster and higher price . This is better than if you selling a used phone that you already used had been bought and was already used . The battery won’t be the same .
I used to buy used phones but after my last 2 experiences never again. One time the screen was replaced which the seller didn’t mention and the other time the phone was financed and I couldn’t activate it. I eventually got my money back thru PayPal but it was such a hassle. I rather pay a little extra for brand new just for piece of mind.
Buying used is a terrible idea, especially when it comes to iPhone. The amount of things that can be wrong (which aren’t all visible for the average customer) is way to high. Especially considering the high prices even used models are on sale. On top of that the likelihood of getting ripped of is way higher when buying and/or selling an iPhone.
There are a lot of shops that sell used phones in their best condition, after many testing so they give you the guaranteed paperwork for a year or more , so it's trustful i think, and u save some bucks
My dad's friend sold me a used iPhone x and it definitely was a great deal, I only had to pay $100 and I'm so lucky to have a premium device for so cheap

Just got myself an used iPhone X and I'm happy with it, despite some minor scratches on the stainless steel bands 😅 although I'm now using a S10+ as my main carrier

I have purchased my last 2 iPhones (iPhone 8 & iPhone X) from Gazelle for under $500. Why pay thousands of dollars when they basically all look the same. Each phone came with 90% battery life as well.
I was going to buy a used iphone 7 Because it would be new to me since I havent owned a iphone since the second gen. Right now I'm on android using a Galaxy A10e along with the Galaxy note 4 with a 10k MAH battery and android 9 custom rom, I only use the note 4 as a media device though because I installed a sound mod and it changed my whole media experience.
Been using the iPhone XR for almost 2 years and I’m reluctant to buy a new phone even though I want to. To be completely honest, I prefer the designs of the iPhone 6Plus- 8plus more than I do the X’s with the exception of the Max’s
I just bought an iPhone XS 256 gig model for 250 unlocked with a blown speaker. It has one month off Apple Care plus on it left. Took it to Apple. They replaced the phone. Now I have a new iPhone XS with 100% battery. Not only that, it let me put Apple Care plus on it. (I chose monthly)
Nick, great video. I like buying used phones, but be careful. If you’re looking at an iPhone 8 or newer, go into the display settings and make sure it has True Tone. If it doesn’t, the screen has been replaced. Nick, let me know if you want to sell the coral Xr :)
They are definitely better these days as it's harder for apps to use too many resources in the future as compared to say 10 years ago.. That being said my iPhone with 2GB RAM is still fine.
Well, I bought an iPhone 8 in 2017. I'm not gonna upgrade until I need to. Some people just upgrade because they want the "latest and greatest". Thinking I might buy a new MacBook because mines is from 2013.
I buy used broken iphones then i fix them and thats how i get a great deal on them for example i just bought a 8+ 256gb few weeks ago for 100 euros and after i have fixed it ill start to use it as my main phone
Had to send my iPhone 11 Pro Max in to Apple to have it replaced. Estimated it will take about 3 weeks to get back. So I dug out my iPhone 7 Plus 256 gb jet black. Cleaned it up. Battery life was at 86% but I’ve had her since day one, honestly it felt refreshing to go back, not to mention everything worked on it that I use on my 11 pro Max! I miss the old design sometimes tho I’ve used iPhones since the iPhone 4. Still have em. So I’m kinda partial to the old design. Keep up the great videos man!
I bought a refurbished iPhone X a few months ago and am totally satisfied with it. The phone is still quick as a whip and runs everything I need it to. The only drawback is the battery is only at 89% capacity but that still gets me through the day with room to spare.
I brought an iPhone 8 Plus two days ago it’s in perfect condition lucky me, NOTHING WRONG WITH IT NO CRACKS NO SCRATCHES NO DINTS , battery compatibility 100% everything works fine and it was used , but the person just bought n then sold it to me
The thing is simple: iPhone XS (my actual phone) original price was nearly $1,100 with taxes, the iPhone XR original price was $800 with taxes. Right now you can get an used XS for $600 and an used XR cost $500. I will never buy an expensive iPhone again, next time I’ll go used or new but the successor of the regular 11
My first IPhone 7-plus was refurbished. But, internally started acting bazaar. It was time for a serious upgrade to a stylish scarlet 11. I purchased first refurbished iPhone from Sprint, and those salespeople throughout San Fernando Valley are horrible. I end up filing a suit against Sprint, but made great contact with a Sprint Executive and worked out a sassy compromise that was satisfactory. I vowed never ever to return to Sprint!
Just bought an Iphone XS space gray 256 gb mint condition with no scratches front and back with 95% battery capacity for just $450 after shipping and tax.
Recently let go of my iPhone 7+ and bought a used iPhone XS Max w/ 512gb for $620 on facebook marketplace. I definitely got a steal, as apple still sells this model refurbished for $1100. The reason I upgraded was because I wanted an OLED screen and better battery life, but absolutely despise spending over $1000 on a new phone. Purchasing used can be sketchy, but if you do all the right tests(IMEI, check to make sure cameras/faceID are working, etc) then you should be ok.
It's because they have power banks from 2017 needing a purpose. No seriously, the older iPhones do hold up in every other department. My SE is testament to that. But personally, and maybe ruthlessly, everything pre iPhone 11 (even the overpriced XR) is a write off battery wise. And yet I still wouldn't pay 11 prices.
A thing I do is get refurbished phones. Right now I have the 6s and I just bought the XS for $699. Some would say it’s idiotic but considering it was $1000. I’m saving big time
Hi Nick, it’s a nice review. I used iPhone SE for sports tracking and music & it’s running very smooth with iOS 13.4. But I also used Google Pixel 2 for working and it’s running smooth also with android 10. So it depends on what we need. Few people have money to buy the new iPhone & it’s ecosystem, but most people prefer to used flagship android and buy it’s accesories with many options available. Thank you Nick, really apreciated it. :)
Other way to be smart about iPhone purchase is to buy a cheap iPhone through low cost carriers like Metro or Cricket. I bought IPhone 6S back in 2018 for just $50(No Contract) from Metro and is still working great.
Akash Agrawal nah, the phones are back to the MSRP prices. The stocks were pretty low so the Xs and Xs Max prices went down, and they’re back up now for some reason.
Because its literally the same device except for a few minor upgrades, same design, same software experience, where Android devices in 2 to 3 generations are going to be leaps and bounds better than 2-3 generations ago
Just go refurbished from a phone company I got my iPhone 7 plus 128gb matte black from Verizon for $8.15 a month and I love it idc about new phones upgraded cameras things like that long as it work make calls hold my music I don't care but hey go for what you like

When you are on prepaid it’s better new
Edit I bought a iPhone 8plus in February brand new $449 straight talk
Potentially depending on the deal
449 is a little bit overkill for an iPhone 8
Nice! 👍🏾
Awakened Garou 8 plus I was scammed when I sold my s10e
Nick Ackerman I have to be on Verizon to get any single
I upgrade my phone every year. Always keep it clean and intact so upgrading wouldn’t cost much 👌🏻
So true I can’t agree more 😊
If i buy a used smartphone, my parents would end up making me the night dinner meat🙄. Though i bought a iPhone XS last month😁
why?
?
Don’t know why but if i speak about used stuff i get killed immediately. Cause they don’t like used stuff 🙄that’s why
@@shriramsb4478 Are you living your life for them?
Davies Udoh I don’t mind about those things. And i live my life like i wanted since i earned this phone myself. I get my things myself
just bought a used iphone 8 upgrade from 6s. Great so far.
Just got my used iPhone 11 Pro Max for 860ish with tax, and it doesn't have any scratches and battery capacity is at 100%. If you didn't tell me it was used I would have believed it was brand new.
I have an iPhone SE 32gb I picked up cheap second hand as a second phone.. works a treat.
They don't buy them because they're smart but because they're cheaper and they're iPhones. But it is smarter to buy used iPhones.
What should they have bought then?
Just got myself an used iPhone X and I'm happy with it, despite some minor scratches on the stainless steel bands 😅 although I'm now using a S10+ as my main carrier
How does the S10+ compares to the X?
I’ll say it again love the resell value and the 5 year software updates with the iPhone
I personally wait for the software update to end just to Flash custom ROMs on them ahhahaha
U don't know how much fun u can have with Custom ROMs
Martin Grant most of updates from iOS nothing big or wow factor justfixed bugs improved tweaks the day customisations happens that’s when. I give Apple some manage respect
@@bigmaxcc that's also why I won't switch to an iPhone anytime soon
I have purchased my last 2 iPhones (iPhone 8 & iPhone X) from Gazelle for under $500. Why pay thousands of dollars when they basically all look the same. Each phone came with 90% battery life as well.
I was going to buy a used iphone 7
Because it would be new to me since I havent owned a iphone since the second gen.
Still rocking my iPhone 7+. Thinking about upgrading to an iPhone 11. Worth the upgrade?
Will consider revising my update video on those
Nick Ackerman thank you! Look forward to that video!
Josh 3204 thank you! I will definitely consider it!
Same! Bought my 7 plus used and loving it now. Thinking of upgrading to an 11/Pro. Maybe once a newer iPhone is released so that price will be lower
Worth every penny 👌🏻
Got a refurb Xr for $420 on ebay and it looks close to brand new except for a few scratches and 96% battery so definitely worth it
I’ve had my iPhone 7 for 2 years, 4 years, and one day. I’m not sure what my next iPhone will be.
Although I never purchased old phone, I liked this based on your logical explanation..
Nick, great video. I like buying used phones, but be careful. If you’re looking at an iPhone 8 or newer, go into the display settings and make sure it has True Tone. If it doesn’t, the screen has been replaced. Nick, let me know if you want to sell the coral Xr :)
Used flagship android phones with more than 6 gigs of ram and with a snapdragon 800 series don't get slow over with time
They are definitely better these days as it's harder for apps to use too many resources in the future as compared to say 10 years ago.. That being said my iPhone with 2GB RAM is still fine.
Like LG G4?hahaha
😂😂😂😂
S8 came from 1500 USD. And now selling for 😂 100
Well, I bought an iPhone 8 in 2017. I'm not gonna upgrade until I need to. Some people just upgrade because they want the "latest and greatest". Thinking I might buy a new MacBook because mines is from 2013.
I buy them used but get new iPhone every 4 years
I have an iPhone 📱 8 Plus + and I had it since it was released and ever since I’ve been using it, I’ve never thought about upgrading to a new one...
What i like to do is buy a last generation iphone because its got most of the specs the new ones have and its cheaper
Life Game Changer should I wait another year and then buy the iPhone 11 or buy the second right now
@@Bigbiceps301 what phone do u have rn and what do u do most on your phone ?
I bought my XR 2weeks ago in Bulgaria for 550gbn which is like 280 USD. Yeah i like it very much. I bought it with 100% battery health
Oh wow a Bulgarian person here :)
How's the phone now?
I bought a refurbished iPhone X a few months ago and am totally satisfied with it. The phone is still quick as a whip and runs everything I need it to. The only drawback is the battery is only at 89% capacity but that still gets me through the day with room to spare.
Chris S I would get a xr if I was you
I brought an iPhone 8 Plus two days ago it’s in perfect condition lucky me, NOTHING WRONG WITH IT NO CRACKS NO SCRATCHES NO DINTS , battery compatibility 100% everything works fine and it was used , but the person just bought n then sold it to me
The thing is simple: iPhone XS (my actual phone) original price was nearly $1,100 with taxes, the iPhone XR original price was $800 with taxes.
I vowed never ever to return to Sprint!
i bought new iphone 11 there is nothing better than that when you unbox it by yourself
sub $200 iphone 7 gang :DDD
I even bought 2 haha
From which website bro?
thats my plan
@@arifmahmudansari i know boost has the used 7 plus 32 gb for 169 and 128 gb for 200
iPhone SE for $70 and 3 months of service is the best deal you can get right now
@@berekexer56 thats crazy
Just bought an Iphone XS space gray 256 gb mint condition with no scratches front and back with 95% battery capacity for just $450 after shipping and tax.
Keep the content coming! 🙏🏻
Well the XR is the only one I would get personally because of the somewhat modern design and price(compared to iPhone 11)
I found a used xs for 230
It's because they have power banks from 2017 needing a purpose.
No seriously, the older iPhones do hold up in every other department. My SE is testament to that.
But personally, and maybe ruthlessly, everything pre iPhone 11 (even the overpriced XR) is a write off battery wise.
And yet I still wouldn't pay 11 prices.
You for sure let me know that this is what smart people do😂😂
A thing I do is get refurbished phones. Right now I have the 6s and I just bought the XS for $699. Some would say it’s idiotic but considering it was $1000. I’m saving big time
Nick is right! I’m on a 6s plus!
Because they can pretend like they bought it at full price and show off.
From 2013 I buy used flagships, I sell them and with some saved money I buy the next used flagship. Never missed any important feature and had fun.
I bought a jet black iphone 7 great condition for only $115
I just bought a 2018 iphone XS. I found the speed of CPU is almost the same as android 2019 flagship.
All my iPhones were used I had a iPhone 7 Plus then the 8 now the X and all worked perfectly 😊
Other way to be smart about iPhone purchase is to buy a cheap iPhone through low cost carriers like Metro or Cricket. I bought IPhone 6S back in 2018 for just $50(No Contract) from Metro and is still working great.
I buy iPhone 6s 128gb in 2015 and I still use my iPhone 6s
Honestly all these reasons are true I recently bought a iPhone XR on eBay for 450 my first iPhone and I enjoy it alot
Great video! I’ve only bought used iPhones.. I’m not in a competition to get the latest like some folks are…
Smart people buy last year’s model flagship iPhone new. I got a brand new XS Max 256 GB for 550US. Amazing deal.
DammitCarl108 Unbelievable.Where did you get such a great deal and when?
@@akashagr about a month ago, in saudi arabia.
DammitCarl108 Is that deal still there or sold out?
Akash Agrawal nah, the phones are back to the MSRP prices. The stocks were pretty low so the Xs and Xs Max prices went down, and they’re back up now for some reason.
DammitCarl108 Ok.Are you aware of its current price in Saudi? As I have someone there who could buy for me,and also which store is it the cheapest
Is it prudent to buy a used android?
i got an iphone 8 64gb with a pre fitted screen protector for $200, oh and battery health is 100%
Because its literally the same device except for a few minor upgrades, same design, same software experience, where Android devices in 2 to 3 generations are going to be leaps and bounds better than 2-3 generations ago
Just go refurbished from a phone company I got my iPhone 7 plus 128gb matte black from Verizon for $8.15 a month and I love it idc about new phones upgraded cameras things like that long as it work make calls hold my music I don't care but hey go for what you like
Thanks for this video because I was thinking about buying a used iPhone.
