Thanks for the review John. Looking forward to reading it. This is definitely the best period of their solo work and my favorite. Keep up the good work!!
One of the most intelligent and incisive books on the post-Beatles I've read. Contrary to the majority opinion, I've always found 'Aisumasen' pure unadulterated Lennon, one of the rawest, most emotive and finest tracks in his oeuvre. It is the sound of John's heart breaking, a desperate plea to Yoko for forgiveness and absolution after his repellent 1972 infidelity. I agree with Terry that Spinozza's incendiary solo at the finale is spectacular, one of the greatest in Rock and one that never fails to take me to another place. A remarkable read and another great review thanks, John ❤
Very good review of the book. My copy is arriving today, I am looking forward to reading it as 1970-75 is my favorite period of the Beatles solo careers.
I wasn’t aware of this book, but after watching your review, I plan picking it up soon. I’m very interested in that time period of the Beatles careers. Thanks for sharing.
In addition, for what it is worth, Ben Fong Torres, author of Lumbering in the material world , from Rolling Stones said that he got the most negative mail of his career from that article.
Brilliant review as always John and yes I agree it's all subjective in regards to preference of the songs. Someone has just sent me a rather strange Beatles book titled the memoirs of Billy Shears, just wondered what your take on that one is, that is if you have read it ?
Thanks for the review John 👍 Also John check out a book by Tim English-John Lennon 1980 Playlist - its a book about the music that John listened to between the years 1977 to 1980, and inspired him to record music again. - Im pretty sure you will enjoy this book -Cheers John 🍺
great review I am half way through and think it is great ! I thought very interesting on Red Rose Speedway! Poor Glynn not enjoying the initial phase of songs McCartney worked on! Sensible it was cut down to a single Album sounds like it would have been an awful double Lp
Great recommendation here John. I have been reading it this week and I’ve particularly enjoyed the lack of hubris from Wilson. He’s insightful and detailed but balanced and fair. Crap book title though. Why not review The Beatles “Love” soon? I really adore that bizarre but captivating record and it’s a bit of an omission from your videography. Thanks for all of the excellent content over the years too.
It’s predictable though a little regretful that this was the period that produced material at the same level as the original band. Can you imagine Beatles albums that included songs from Plastic Ono, Imagine, ATMP, and B on the R. Still, we got the songs anyway - my only minor gripe is George got a little carried away and should’ve made his a single. The rest of their albums just didn’t hit those heights.
IMHO Too Many People is one of Paul's best songs. I like him best when he evokes his inner Lennon and writes from the heart rather than in the second person.
I agree with everything you say about the book, except your claim that it is well written. There are typos, errors, and infelicities of style on almost every page, as is often the case with self-published books. I also disagree with your claim that the period 1970-74 contains 80% of the Beatles' post-Beatles music. The 1990s was a golden time for McCartney.

I really enjoyed your critique of this book, John, which I have now ordered so thank you for alerting me to it. I didn't know that it even existed!
I love Aisumasen. It's soulful, not depressing. Spinozza's solo is amazing.
Sounds like a good book. I was not aware of it. Great period of Beatles solo music.
Very interesting review, John.
I have just ordered the book. Thanks for making me aware.
Thanks John - sounds worth looking into!
Very informative review . Thanks.
All the best from Sweden, Beatles fan.
Thanks, that's the first purchase of the year!
Excellent review, book is ordered and on its way, Gilbert.
Had this a while and loving it
Thanks for the review. I don't have a lot of Beatles books by any means, but this sounds like one I would enjoy.
I have it and like you I am very impressed.

I’ll definitely get it. Sounds great.
Have you got a video going through your backdrop? if not i think that would be an interesting idea
John could you do a review of remastered albums. If they are good or not. Did they improve on the original versions? ect.
The oriigional double album of Red Rose Speedway released a few years ago is a much stronger album .It comes across as more of a band lalbum.
John, I noticed that he mentioned the Dark Horse Album. Did he mention the 1974 tour?
Yes, he does mention it, and goes through it in sequence with the other events happening at the time.

Hi John there’s still a weird background clicking noise in many of your recent videos. Just an FYI
Bout time you reviewed MIDAS MAN
