Katerina, I am new at pyrography. I am a oil painter most of the time. For your light strands of hair, are you indenting the wood before you burn? Thank you!
I hope Katerina will not mind , but just In case you don`t get a reply,I thought I would share with you 3 of my own methods of putting in light whisps in Hair . I use a few methods but these 3 will get you started . One is to use a scribe on already burnt patches and scrape/ scratch the whisps in ,so as you scratch with the scribe it removes the burned wood leaving a clear base wood ,as long as you havn`t burned too hot where you want the whisps to go.. The second method I also like using white charcoal to put in scratchings before the burning then the burning will not affect the whisps you put in with white charcoal pencils . You can buy them at most art accessory shops. The third method is to use a dremel with a fine grinder bit on the tip to lightly skim over the burned wood and put the wisps in to expose the light unburned wood if you want , you can then also use a coloured art pencil to put the whisps in the colour of the hair in . It's all about improvising to get an end result .Hope this helps .
