SPMW 208 Rotary Snowplow in Action!

On January 12, 2008, this historic piece of equipment was put to use clearing the tracks at its home, the Western Pacific Railroad Museum in Portola, California. It is see being pushed by two historic SP locomotives, SD9 #4404 and GP9 #2873.

I wish they had the steam boiler working! The steam around the rotary, as well as the unmistakable whistle, add to the awesome effect of the rotaries in action.

It broke and the WPRRM sold it to Western Rail Incorpirated who sadly converted it to a low hood.
