Hello FC, long time quiet fan of the channel. I really appreciate your music vlogs and I have picked up on a few new artists because of them. I just wanted to add to the conservation. I love DAMN and I think Kendrick has made fantastic studio albums throughout his career. However, I would say To Pimp A Butterfly is still his best and most resonant album.
DAMN feels too commercial at times. It was like the moment he realized he broke into massive mainstream success and made an album to market to a larger audience. TPAB feels more like the moment he was at the height of his lyricism and writing. It feels poetic in a way that Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers feels like his most introspective and personal.
That's not to downplay the work and talent on display in DAMN. There are more certifiable club bangers on that album than perhaps any of his other work. It feels like the divide on Not Like Us and Euphoria. Euphoria is the better written and most complex track, but Not Like Us is a universal jam. I get why one is more popular than the other while, arguably, not being as great. You don't get people dancing in the street to Euphoria.
Anyway, good choices for August all around. Looking forward to your future videos. Keep up the good work!

i completely agree that TPAB is the better album. i just enjoy listening to DAMN more. i went more in depth about it in my “top 10 albums of the 2010s” list. DAMN is certainly commercial but i wouldnt say its too commercial in my opinion. a lot of the sounds on it are nostalgic to me since i was very into modern hip hop in tue early to mid 2010s. i believe he mixed these sounds well with his own style. its mostly just a matter of personal preference for me.
thank you for taking the time to watch my videos consistently. it means a lot and i am glad that you enjoy them. i appreciate you taking the time to write this comment to me. please feel free to share your thoughts on any of my videos. i always like to hear other’s perspectives. i love hearing that i’ve been able to help you find new music. i’d love to hear what you’ve gotten into.
