I like the fact that you didn't go overboard with finishing and polishing & buffing every nook and cranny! After all, it is a tool, isn't it? Thank you foe showcasing your expertise.
I have a Wilton Bullet that I acquired when someone was throwing a work bench away. I asked about the vise that was attached to the bench and they said I could have it if I wanted it. 3 bolts with a crescent wrench and it was in my pickup. I just got my paint and it will be done this weekend. I am looking forward to it. Nice videography and it was good help with my project. Thanks.
Kirk Buster YESSS! Glad to hear that it was helpful for you! Free vises (especially these) are the best! Thanks for watching and subscribing!! Good luck with your rebuild. Send me some pics when your done! @partsandrestoration on Instagram or the same name on facebook
I recently bought a new vice (vise for you Americans, but us Brits like ours vices), when I see videos like this I think I could get twice the vice for half the money. They are practically giving them away on eBay. Then I remember, you need at least some idea what you are doing. A great video as always with your brilliant sense of humour.
Ha! Thanks Mark! Glad you enjoyed this latest work! Look me up on Instagram or Facebook for lots more restorations (I only video a few of the bigger jobs). Thanks for watching, brother!

Earl Soldier thanks Earl! I’m glad to hear that you found it will find it entertaining and useful, that’s what it’s all about! Be sure to click that subscribe button!!
Nice share of the Wilton even has its swivel base you are doing good. We do not have a Wilton but as micro-machinist if we did it would be the baby Wilton to best fit in around here. Cool lettering work to boot.
You too, Patrick? Baby Bullet with the Power Arm, not clapped out. Preferably not costing a fortune, too. If I find one, I'll let you know. After I have my own, of course. ;-)
I think you covered everything in the description except the color paint that you used on the vise..i would love to know the brand of paint and color.. thx for bringing us along..
Justin Robertson flipflops are standard, as far as the toes, you’re either born with it or you’re not😂😂😂🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓 thanks for watching, don’t forget to subscribe! 👍
Is there such a thing as a Wilton bullet vice that isn’t pretty? Even pre restoration they blow most other vices out of the park. A great clean up and paint job, I really like the 'natural' look. Great production and editing too, you certainly made me smile. Personally I find the videos like yours that don’t have the 'after' in the thumbnail far more satisfying. Thank you.
I’m restoring a Wilton vise right now and your video has helped a ton! Did you sandblast the outside of the main long stock on the clamping jaw? I couldn’t tell if you wore wheeled it or didn’t touch it. Also, how did you clean the inner parts?
Had me nervous at the beginning with that music loop you used to use, lol. Great video, good content, I always enjoy humor added in the videos. Looking forward to more content! I hope this channel continues to grow! Biased bonus points to you for being from PA! Lol
Agreed. Until I got a nice industrial surplus workbench and Wilton tradesman vise, I cracked in half 7 crappy Home Depot vises and destroyed two flimsy Home Depot cardboard workbenches.
Cool restoration. I just picked up an old wilton and am going to take it apart and clean it up. Mine is massive though, on the lookout to eventually get a smaller bench vise like this one. What size are the jaws? 3 inches?
Look into dry moly spray as well, my Wilton I just restored I used dry moly on all machined surfaces and then grease, we use dry moly in the oilfield and boy I cant describe how much better it makes grease work. Also, your acid etch primer should go on as a dust coat only.. it works better this way - instructions say so. Nice resto though Sir!
you didn't show replacing/upon reassembly the grease lube (seen at 1:48 minute) on shaft that was visible when disassembling? what kind of lube to use and how far along shaft is it applied?
Parts & Restoration thank you. I pulled the dust cap off this morning and noticed it’s two pins. Your video is making my job a ton easier thank you again!
Nice job! I redid that same exact model a couple years ago. Did you regrease the screw? What was the date code on yours? Mine was worn off. I have a picture based video of mine over on my channel if you feel like taking a look. Did you hook up the Teco vfd bridgeport yourself?
Tom's Dreamshop Worx hey Tom thanks for watching! The screw did get regressed after the video. Grease and cameras gets a little messy. Mine is a 6-1-78 date of manufacture. As for the phase converter, yes I did and I’ll tell ya, it was a lot easier than I thought!
The fad of giving a thumbs up 30 times a video has become annoying. Everyone does this now and it's pointless. Here's a can of paint ... THUMBS UP. I just used an angle grinder ... THUMBS UP.
Dale D hey Dale! I gotta give it to the RUclips community, you guys don’t miss a thing! I am learning as I go and I’ve since greased the Jesus out of the lead screw! Thanks for the feedback, it’s genuinely helpful! Thanks for watching and check out my other videos!!
These vises are for people of average intelligence and common sense. If you don’t know what to do after watching this video, chances are, you’re the problem, not me, or the twenty two THOUSAND other people who watched and didn’t complain. Thanks for commenting! Be sure to like, share, and subscribe! PS: This video is complimented by a detailed voice over how-to guide video that can be found in my list of uploaded videos. Maybe you’ll figure out how to locate it. Expectations are low though.....😘
Don't see how this could be called restored when nothing was done about wear on the screw & nut. And that wire wheel in the drill press - that's just plain ridiculous on several levels.

believe it or not, that iis exactly what happened to me. I am 80% done restoring mine. What a monster LOL !
So lucky! Ive been looking for a good vise at a good price for a while, congrats!
@@chrisgriffin8490 thanks ! I was very lucky to have pulled mine out of the trash !! Good luck, Chris.
Excellent!! I learned a LOT, too. Beautiful vise! Nice boots.
I enjoyed your cinematography as well
Thanks adorn!
Nice job I just picked up a Bullet vice for myself to repaint
Great video. I now have some idea on how to restore a 3 1/2" Wilton Bullet that a friend gave me last night.
Nice dude!! Glad to help
COOL now i have my project for this weekend!
Thanks for the teardown vid. But I'm keeping the original patina on my 6.5" bullet.
Puttin the ole Bridgeport to work! Great video

Very nice resto. Luv these vises.

I love Wilton Bullet Vises and your video informative and amusing. Now you should think about restoring those toenails to their former glory.
Hahahaha. I need a man-acure 😂 thanks for watching brother!

In Brazil this is rare vise my dream !!
40 Garage they’re hard to find in the USA too! Not very common and often very expensive!

4:27 that moment you needed a vise to hold your vise. Just keep your, well you know, out of the vise.
Fact!! I was thinking it at the time and during edit! My shop is in transition and I have many vises but non bolted down!!
Also excellent advise about....well you know.
I thought you were supposed to keep it in a vice🤣
Can't astir restoration I really like the old vices I'm now a new subscriber thanks
mental health model maker thanks for watching! I’m glad you liked it!

@@partsandresto I can certainly deal with that.
I've got an old vise that I want to repair with my everlast welder. A lot of the new vises they sell today are junk.
Damn near all of them are junk made today.
Agreed. Until I got a nice industrial surplus workbench and Wilton tradesman vise, I cracked in half 7 crappy Home Depot vises and destroyed two flimsy Home Depot cardboard workbenches.
What color spray paint did you use? Looks great!
Thank you! It’s Rustoleum Hammertone Black
What are the benefits of a old bullet still cast iron? Or machined?
They are cast but they are very well made
Looking at the basement construction I assume the house must be at least 75 years old.
Built in 1899
Cool restoration. I just picked up an old wilton and am going to take it apart and clean it up. Mine is massive though, on the lookout to eventually get a smaller bench vise like this one. What size are the jaws? 3 inches?
Hey Vinny, I think these were 4" but im not certain. I recently purchase a wilton C4 and ill be doing a video on that soon. Good luck with your resto.
@@partsandresto awesome! I look forward to it
Good job! Turned out pretty good, love the vise, very unique shape!
Subbed!
Nice job but why didn't you grease the inside parts?
Happened off camera. Thanks for watching!!
Beautiful job! Bet you were ready for an easy one. Do you keep everything you restore? That milling machine is awesome!
I generally do keep them all.
nice job , but man : grease , grease , grease

I read that you dont want to grease slide areas.

you didn't show replacing/upon reassembly the grease lube (seen at 1:48 minute) on shaft that was visible when disassembling? what kind of lube to use and how far along shaft is it applied?
El Rico I used synthetic grease on the whole screw!
That’s what she said.
Giggity goo
So is that two pins in the rear or a single? I need to know ASAP!?!? Thank you
Sorry for the delay. Two pins. Knock them both in 1/4 inch or so and the back cast half dome part comes out
Parts & Restoration thank you. I pulled the dust cap off this morning and noticed it’s two pins. Your video is making my job a ton easier thank you again!

How much is a vice like that worth? I got one for free and just restored it. I was gonna keep it but it’s kinda over kill for my uses.
Keep it...:
200 bucks is the going rate
@@partsandresto yeah I’ll probably just keep it it’s a beast probably weight 75lbs easy. Thx for the reply. Good video.
You didn't replace the pins that hold the "bullet" in the vise body. And you didn't grease the lead screw.
Fake news
The wilton company stamped the keys in their vises with the production date just something to look for great video though
Samuel Coffman yes sir! Mines marked 6-1-78!
@@partsandresto nice mine is dated 8/53

should of powdercoated it but yes good job
Buy me a powder coating gun, supplies, and an oven and I’ll powder coat everything I own. Until then, 5 dollar rattle cans all day. 🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️

What happen to powder coating which is 15 times stronger than paint?
Bobcatt22 do I look like a have a friggin powder coating setup? Go back to your hole
Your little toe is so creepy!! Haahahaha!!
Mate, I didn't see any of your lead based safety paint on those toenails… 😋
axelisis lead insoles in the cowboy boots!!😂😂😂
You have an identity crisis. The vice looks nice too though. But if you don't put grease on the main roundy thing it will get scratched easily.
