7 box, two in the 6. Reload then four in the 6 box, 4 in the four and one in the one box then second reload and then run everything on the right side of the target.
Great drill! It has a lot of the elements in it that I encountered when I was active in IDPA competition. Every scenario is different and you have to THINK while your shooting, which would be a good thing if you were to find yourself in a defensive situation. Enjoyable and informative!
Yep I only carry 2 as well. Anything more than that seems a bit much. I do however have a belt sleeve that holds a magazine if I feel I need it. It’s a sleeve that the belt feeds into. I will have to start training with it. The thing I like most about this is having to process something while shooting. Regular Range shooting is not going to help with the processing in a time restricted situation. Mixing up the Range Training is a great idea. Thanks for bringing this to us. I am definitely changing my Training practices going forward. These exercises help with having to quickly do all the core stuff required to hit your target. Up, down, left, right bringing your sight picture to you from a quick draw or reload. I mean it brings everything into this one exercise just about. It’s actually pretty fantastic. Keeps the training fresh as well and keeping it fun. Great job as always!

Not knocking the drill or who made it but I think the only place this really has for people is a “hey let’s try this” type of drill. If it was reworked to not be 28 rounds a run and more like 10-15 I think it would be more open to people trying it out. For a third spare mag o carry it in my back pocket right next to my wallet which keeps the mag upright. It’s really only a range/comp thing since that’s where my handheld would sit for edc.
I definitely think I should look into getting a red dot on my P365. It's my 1st handgun and I got it not long ago, I just got the standard P365, not the XL and it didn't come optics ready. Not sure if I want to send my slide to get cut or just buy another slide that's precut. And if I get another, whether it should be the same size or if I should go with the XL slide to give that a shot and see how it feels. Kinda wish I had just waited another month to get it bc the P365 X Macro just came out not long ago and that's optics read and ported and is basically just an upgraded P365 XL plus it would've only been an extra $200
Yep, I carry the FN 509. I did the same thing. It was my first one and I rushed it. I did a little research but not extensive. I really didn’t know what I wanted or might want later. Now I am buying the compact but doing a build. I have already ordered the performance modification parts I will need to make it like I want. This time I am buying the tactical version which is already set up to accept the Red Dot, light and compensator I will be adding. I will be doing a couple internal things as well like changing out my trigger, trigger springs and firing pin. I say all that to say I feel you. It’s natural that your first gun is not going to be the exact one you want. It really takes buying your first one before you figure out what you want and or need, lol! Problem now it’s becoming an expensive addiction! Lots of research too. I use my first gun as my home defense with no changes except adding a light. Using the iron sight on it is good training as well.
I shot the 3 sevens today. Came close on the time but had 3 out. Shot it a bunch more Xs but never got a clean go. Super fun though. Can't wait to do this one.
I would like to see this drill ran with rifle and pistol. 9 with the rifle then transition to pistol for 9 then reload rifle for the last 10. Might have to play around with the time standards but should be interesting.
Always good stuff - can you try the Rune Nation Cold Start Target? KitBadger does it beginning of every product review. Also have you done Baer Solutions Cold Start?
decent drill. however as you saw...good luck trying to score/analyze it on your own unless you're hitting in the shapes. Seems like a slight waste of ammo personally. Better drills out there for less ammo.
@@AJuniorOutdoorsman then why not just have a page with 64 half inch circles shot at 10 yards with a time standard of 45 seconds? Your logic would apply to that perfectly.
